I suspect he'd just been told he was off air. He was a bit upset about not getting a countdown. Made me laugh. Well done Cadel even if he is a boring spoilt brat.

They were selling them new on ebay for 220 last season. But yours is old and the bulbs and batteries do not last. 2 years ago there were about 6 in use in our club, now there are none. I very nearly got one but I'm glad I didn't. Two on ebay at mo 51 and 92 quid so there's still a market for them. One went for £125.

Tried various topeak etc LEDs to start – Pants.
Knightlight 5W 10W Halgens – Ok at 1st but batt was pants.
BLT 21ne – Good to start but faded. Modded with P4 – Ok in Tesco torch kind of way.
Niteflux Photon Max – briliant on helmet but not floody enough for bars. Then it died. Got a refund.
Tesco torch. Good bright torch but too heavy so has never been used as a bike light.
Cateye Tripleshot (Got for a steal)- It's ok but not quite bright/floody or focussed enough to be used in isolation. Modded with P4s it's not a bad light but optics could really be better. I still use it on the bars.
Hope 4 – Great bright and floody light with fantastic run times. Best on the bars but mine's on my helmet at mo. The mounts sticks up a bit far but overall fantastic.
DX light – had a "it's only 50 quid what the hell" moment last week so will let you know when it gets here.

I've only ever seen them on girls hips or arses. I have no opinions on them whatsoever.

Well that would keep me in beer, I guess you'll have to busk for food and heating and stuff.

I bought a 456 summer season as my winter bike last year and ride it more than anything else now. I reckon I'll try this SS malarkey on it soon too.

Wow! Kick out the jams – I thought that that was a Blue Oyster Cult track but have just found out that they actually covered it. The race looks just my kind of mental fun. I fancy a bit of that in the next couple of years.

Still got a ripped calf muscle so booked a hangover for tomorrow early doors, watching rugby match tomorrow afternoon. Got a formal dinner sat evening so will get kilted up and then bladdered. Sun have bigger hangover booked but will try a very gentle local woods ride to blow away the cobwebs. The end.

Not a trendy choice but On One have got the FSA V Drive at 65 quid. It's not the prettiest but it lasts a long time. When I bought one a couple of years ago it was top choice on MTBR and I can't fault it. I've swapped rings and BBs but otherwise it's going fine.

On hard pack you will really notice the difference in speed. The Larsen is great for everything except braking where the surface is loose or breaks away and in mud. Mine out performed my pal's Highroller on a really wet rooty climb the other day but some of that may also be down to pressure and my lardy weight and <ahem> superior technique. You do realise though that as soon as you change over the winter will arrive in the form of wet muddy trails.

The niteflux photon max is still the best helmet light out there I reckon. Shame about the backup. Mine lost one LED so I sent it back and after 7 weeks of nothing I just got a refund. As has been said, Smudge will be able to sort you with a battery but there is certainly no need to spend 300 sheckles to replace it. A full set up Ay-Ups is less but I can't see past the DX at the mo. It's <ahem> blinding value.

Pah, just MTFU and cycle over the cables. On a unicycle. Can be hairy in a gale. As a kid I used to ride the path and often got blown sideways in a drift kind of way where the tyres gave up their grip on the tarmac.

Been on it for a while. It seems to have stolen some features from google chrome which is a good thing. It's still my browser of choice.

Never knew they sold it too. Will have to try theirs as well.

I've skied Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang and it's a fantastic huge area. I'd love to ride there. The parks look fun too and if the apres bike is half as good as teh apres ski it'll be brill. It would get my vote.

You do realise that there is a new kid on the block guys and gals?

Looks like the same light with a heed strap for helmet mount too.

I'll name and shame them – they're called bikes and bowls in Elgin and a bigger bunch of incompetents I've never met. They are Kona dealers apparently so when I took my Dawg in for bearing changes they kept it for 2 weeks and then decided it was too hard. Meanwhile I was getting fat and tetchy with no bike. Bothy in Aviemore did it in 40 mins. Worse than that though was the fact that they undid my front mech and didn't tighten it so I had to set it all up once the bike was returned and they cut the cable ties for my brake and gear cables at the back. I only noticed this when they had started wearing through my seat clamp and themselves so my back indexing went to pot too. There is a story of one of the Moray MBC guys who went in to get his pads changed and it cost more than a full set of new hayes 9s (before CRC much cheapness). His mum paid without knowing the going rate. Truly shocking. They'll never get their hands on my 10 bike family's cash again.

Maxxis High Roller (F) and Larsen TT (R) both 2.35 SPC Maxxpro 60a

I find this a very good combination. Highly recommended.

What you done? They told me 10 weeks when I separated my shoulder. I was back on the bike in 10 days but only very gentle XC and it was effectively one handed for a long time but it kept my legs spinning. In hindsight probably not the best idea as if you do come off it's going to be a lot worse.
I'm in the same situation now with a ripped calf. I know I should lay off but I go stir crazy after 3 days of inactivity and it doesn't hurt as long as I don't do bumps and big hills. The local ex-railway and cycle tracks are getting a beating every couple of days.
At the end of the day only you can judge the strength and pain in it but you skinny little whippet racers don't have any upper body strength to lose anyway! 🙂

Hmmm. Frames might not cause chainsuck but the design of some makes it inevitable. This has obviously be recognised and addressed in the latest evolution; the Ragleys with their fancy fingery chainstay thing. Does the 456 tactical dent work on 853s?

Mine's 33lbs with lyrics and 823s with 2.35 highrollers. As others have said, check the scales or take the seatpost out and tip it upside down to let out the water!!

And in 3 months time we'll have another bunch of tubeless naysayers who tell you it's a crap system that burps and doesn't hold air. Either proper UST on UST or Ghetto with normal tyres and rims. Anything else is asking for trouble.
In answer to the OP's question I use LUST 60a Highrollers and can't fault them.

Have ridden with a guy that wears one. Basically he had a massive stack and is trying hard to get his confidence back. He feels safer with one on and it gets him out on his bike. If you do XC style riding then one of these will give you more protection than a normal XC lid but as has been mentioned I wouldn't use it as a substitute for a full face where required. I have had gravel removed from open wounds on my face and it's not something I would ever want to repeat but I don't think I could bring myself to wear one.

Er…… I dunno……. the trail right next to it? You know the one, starts at the same place, finishes at the same place, you might have seen it on the internet a few times.

Is it cos you is too awesome for da red? Kudos to you being so gnarly that only Fort Bill black is good enough for your skillz to the maxx but do you not get a bit bored just doing one trail all the time? I suppose it's all about 1st impressions and if it was a howling gale the time you did it and not a lot of fun then that's the image that will stick.

It's 2 hours from me. I haven't ridden it yet because there are heaps of other brilliant trails between me and it. I'm going to ride it next year, and the black – and heaps of trails between me and it. I sometimes wish I lived down South so I could spend more time on the internet whinging about trails I haven't ridden rather than going out and riding trails. 😛

    It's gash

Blimey, you're a tough person to please, where's the mecca that you compare it to?

LOL at Dr Do. I don't know of anyone who has ridden the trail and not really enjoyed it. If that boardwalk was in London they could charge twice the price for that alone and it would be mobbed.
The woodwork nay sayers should go have a play at Balnain unless the FC H&S dept have taken all the skinnys and see saws out of there too.

I've heard that Balblair is the best with views of both coasts. I've yet to ride it but that will change very soon.

Blimey. I thought that getting matching SSC red BB and QRs was bling. I guess I'll never have a bling bike, the Scottish and Yorkshire in my genes will not allow me to pay more than is practical for anything.

Shame about Niteflux. I still think the Photon Max is the best helmet light I have seen BUT mine died and after 7 weeks of no news I just got the retailer to give me a refund.
LUU light looks nice but as others have said, you could get nearly 3 DX lights for the same price and it's the same 900 lumen P7 after all.
