looks like 3.6kg which is just under 8lb. Scales are crap though. My 575 came up at 2.9kg which is just under 6.6lb.

the dh from win hill to ladybower that cuts along the hill in the direction of the dam wall/bamford was nice singletrack until the tree cutting began

That used to be my favourite return route back to Bamford. Have they finished logging yet?
An almost identical trail in Broxa Forest near Scarborough got done over in a similar fashion years ago – bloody vandals!

‘think’? I’ll weigh it tomorrow and then there will be knowing!

Oh, RWS x12 skewer system, fits my Pro 2s perfectly and a lot lighter than Rockshox offering.

No frame weight yet, can’t find the scale things.
444 views of my youtube vid and it’s not even searchable on youtube!

Yes, but watching on TV = meh. Riding = woohoo!

I’m not saying the course is easy to ride, it’s just like watching paint dry, watching the riders go round. There’s no jeopardy. I’d much rather be riding it myself, enjoying the greater Dalby forest area.
Watching downhill is just very thrilling, speed, jumps, berms, crashes etc. Rob Warner screaming, Nigel Page being a bit racist, that sort of thing!

I wondered when the weight request was coming! I’ll try tomorrow, I’m not sure if I’ve got any accurate scales.

It wasn’t as interesting as PMB downhill, that was insanely good. I like xc, I just find the TDF more exciting than this World Cup xc and I’m not a roadie at all. It needs to be a bit more… something. More Enduro, more hardship. Might as well have been cyclocross.

You better get a 20mm front axle fork to go on that – anything else would be wrong.

Yes, got a pair of 160mm 20mm axled Lyriks. What I meant was, I’d like a matching 20mm DT Swiss axle/skewer to match the rear, is there such a thing? I prefer the Marzocchi style skewer, the Rockshox one is a bit cack.

Given the music and the loving nature of the camerawork I was half expecting a cut-back shot of you spaffing all over the shock

Ahem! Was a close run thing…

Music was on We7, I think it was ‘Silverchair’, didn’t choose it myself! I didn’t read the paper, it was the cheapest Sunday newspaper I could get! Anyway, they don’t publish the Morning Star on a Sunday!

Yes, nickegg, now I want a 20mm front to match! :-)

    nickegg:
It’s a Nukeproof/DT Swiss branded skewer, you tell me!
    One of these:
    http://www.dtswiss.com/Products/Components/RWS/RWS-X-12.aspx
but with DT Swiss and Nukeproof logos.
Errr, I got the frame with it in so I don’t doubt.

Finish is unusual. Nice looking anodising, quite shiny on main tubes, slightly more ‘matt’ on the welds. Welds look very good. Facing looks ok.

+1 for the Source. I’ve had one of their bladders for about 4 years and I’m rubbish at cleaning it out. I often just top it up between rides and rinse out every 2 weeks or so. Never need cleaning tablets, never get the squits!
They might be 20 quid but they’re a very good investment.

I saw some in TK Maxx last week! Only XXL though but at least you won’t have to wait for them to get baggy…

The Syncros 2.5 is too big to go through the rear of a 2007 Yeti 575 without the outer blocks being trimmed. That’s an indication of size. I fitted a 2.35 in the end but if my new Mega is wide enough at the rear, a 2.5 is going back on.
They roll fast, the sidewalls have stood up to Peaks riding for a year or more and they go tubeless like they were designed for it. They don’t clog in winter (obviously, clay is going to be trouble for any tyre!) and on snow they float quite well.
I pump them up to 60 for the ride to the trail and then drop to 25-30 for the rough stuff and then reinflate for the ride home. (I don’t have a car).

I keep saying this but no-one seems to listen…

Syncros Point’n’Chute 2.5s less than 900g. Very fast rolling, can be used all year round as run at 25-30psi they flex the mud off. A good indicator that they are hard centre compound is after 2 years the centre blocks on my rear still had the sipes on them!
I used them ghetto tubeless with no problems and now have them on No-tubes rims and they snap on the bead with a bang!
In short supply now, only ebay Germany have the 2.5 size.

Saturday is apparently ‘rapture’ day. It’s also the day the Mega hits the shops.
    Coincidence?

hmg have clamped down heavily on stores over the topups. The cyclescheme is effectively a hp agreement. If you ‘own’ 33% of your bike because of a topup, it makes the ownership of the bike on a hp scheme very complicated if things go wrong. (you leave your employer, your firm goes bust etc, etc).
And taxpayers are subsidising your new plaything. As a taxpayer who can’t get a bike on the cyclescheme I say hard cheddar to you all! Buy a crappy old hybrid for 80 quid like I did and cycle to work every day.
Oh yes, you can’t get cycle computers or tri-bars on the scheme either, har har!

My flat 8 mile commute on canal/riverbank has had a few hazards over the last 18 months.
Worst was a group of pikeys burning insulation off some probably stolen railway signalling wire. Their Alsatian ran out in front of me. Unfortunately for the dog I was doing maximum speed to try and avoid getting mugged by said pikeys.
The dog yelped as I hit it amidships and bounced it off my front tyre into the hedge. I got out of there as fast as possible!

They’ve always been lightning fast, same day service most times. The two weak links in the chain are the shop itself and the courier from shop to Fishers and from Fishers to shop!

4-ish years ago, saw Hans Rey in Cannock Chase Car Park. It was pissing down and about to close, he was looking at the noticeboard trying to figure out where the campsite was. I knew it was him because of the sticker-bedecked camper van!

Well, I use them for all mountain. But for argument’s sake, make it an Arch and add 180g per wheelset and as my 1500g calculation was erring on the heavy side, it’s more like 1463g. So, within a gnat’s chuff of 1600g for my proposed AM wheelset but there are lighter hubs than Pro2 so probably possible to get it down to 1550g.
Oh, just a thought: will the 2 year unconditional guarantee be valid for a grey import?

Before buying wheels I always think: How quick, cheap and easy will they be to get spares and get repaired?
The Easton’s aren’t as bad as some. Sapim straight pull spokes are almost impossible to buy in the UK though. (I have a hatred of Mavic wheelsets – just try getting spares!)
If someone wants to spend that much on wheels, who am I to stop them? I think they’re just buying the latest hype though. I was flicking through someone else’s copy of Pro Cycling yesterday and saw all the 2k plus carbon wheelsets available in the roadie world. Now it’s leaking into mountain biking.
A pair of Hope Pro2 hubs with Sapim CX-ray spokes and Notubes Crest rims are under 1500g and under 500 quid. There are lighter hubs out there as well so more savings to be made. Standard J-bend spokes, easily repaired hubs, easily obtained rims.
A loose rock in the rear wheel will cost about 30 to 80 quid to put right and take 48 hours max. How much and how long will it take to get a Haven Carbon repaired?
Keep it simple. Compared to the Easton Haven Carbons, my suggested wheelset IS cheap, light and strong, I can pick all 3!

Nice angles and good editing. Yep, needs some slo-mo and perhaps a bit more variance in terrain – it seemed to be the same 2 bits of trail over and over. Also, avoid the red mist ‘film fog’ effect, it’s been done, overdone and done to death! Test card could be developed, what about using a bit of test card type music while it’s on?
There must be an easy way to rig up a home made cable cam!

Conti Mountain King 2.4s Horrendous drag on hardpack, clog up with mud. Too terrain specific and they wear very fast. Same with 2.4 supersonic Speed Kings. Super light but useless. I went back to 2.5 Syncros Point’n’Chutes.
Anything American Classic – made of cheese!

Best bike component ever? SLX cranks!

    That’s D E L I C A
It’s a contraction of ‘Delivery Car’. Delicia sounds like a porn name.
The standard wheelbase Delica is too short. If anyone’s looking for one, make sure it’s the LWB. The side door has a bit more metal between it and the rear arch. The rear window is longer as well. There’s about 18 inches more deck space in it.

    Deveron53

If money was no object I’d get a Delica again.
Here it is at Cannock. The truck is long gone (sniff) but the 575 is for sale to fund a Mega…
BTW, those forks were pretty to look at but cr@p to ride!
