i was defending you…ahem, but i did criticise your ebay selling technique so instead of punctures can i settle for a slight false-brinelling of my lower headset race? (plus, i’m tubeless so probably won’t affect me anyway)

If I was selling a top-spec bike on ebay, it’s the public marketplace and I’d give it a bit of snake-oil!
If I was selling it via STW forum I’d be a bit more open etc as it’s a market populated by techy troll types!

Different market, different customer – different selling technique.

Bad ebay selling technique from 2009gt IMHO but you never know, some rich nutter might bid while pi$$ed one night!

The OP wasn’t 2009gt but someone linking the ad for the purposes of pi$$taking, 2009gt probably came across the stw post and thought (unwisely!) to try and defend himself!

if the production of carbon bikes conforms to H&S standards then w(h)ere are the ethical and health issues?

Well, apparently the reasons they are all produced in the Far East is because of the high levels of health and safety compliance in the factories and the overall excellent human rights enjoyed by the citizens of those countries.
“It’s Health and Safety gone mad!” (is what is often said by Hrichuad Littlejahn of the Shanghai Daily Mail – but strangely enough it’s for the opposite reasons that this total cock usually spouts that hackneyed phrase)

    Greggs!
Bacon sarnie meal deal with the best machine-made cappucino there is. all for 2 quid 30p!
And my ‘local’ is staffed by middle-aged ladies, they look after the ‘regulars’! (Banter, smiles and friendly service – before the gutter-minded join in!)
    Reminds me of this:

The M67 was supposed to go all the way to Sheffield…

Sheffield is a great city, feels like a town, most ‘stay-on-after-graduating’ city, greenest city in europe. I live 1 mile from city centre and the trails start 1 mile from my front door, offroad all the way to Stanage Edge, 6 miles away.

+1 for Joe Blow. Used to pump up my 4×4 tyres when I had a slow puncture. Still going strong after about 8 years but it needs a new hose and valve head.

i just explained to a customer why their order was late. After telling them the truth, they said ‘and an apology?…’ I said ‘on behalf of [my shower of an employer], sorry’. I think they could detect the insincerity in my voice. BUT WHY did they want a meaningless apology from a member of staff who did not cause the error and obviously did not mean it? My employer certainly didn’t mean it!!!
I regularly have to listen to the robotic apologies while waiting for another delayed northern Rail train service. I feel contempt for the company apologising via recorded message.
As Sean Lock said: ‘I’d rather be told to f*ck off by someone who meant it than ‘have a nice day’ by someone who didn’t’ !

What about a valley traverse South to North of the Carneddau via Cowlyd, Eigau, Dulyn then over the saddle between Foel-Fras and Drum, taking the descending track from Drum summit.
I walked it many years ago and it would definitely be ridable but what about legality for certain bits?
Which is the most ridable start, Helyg or Tal-y-Waun, anyone know?

Tyres are wire bead. Decent lightweight tyres may shave up to a pound!
Handlebars/stem/seatpost/seat will shave another pound in total.
Crankset is a bit cheap’n’heavy, possibly 200-300g to save there.
Wheels are the next largest weight saving but can be expensive. Cassette wil not save a large amount.

I used some Speed King supersonic 2.4s but they were more like 2.2. Sidewalls were a bit thin for Peaks but at 440g each…
I switched to Syncros PointnChute 2.35 (600g) and 2.5 (850g) as they roll fast and have cushioning and grip and I can use them all year in the Peaks. 2.5s front and rear now. These two tyres are responsible for my Mega coming in at 32.5 lb but they roll so fast.

I bought a Pelicase for my Lumix compact (can’t remember which one) and hacked it with hot screwdriver, glue gun and drill and now the case has an optical quality window for the lens, an external shutter button and can be strapped to a chest harness. Movies to be uploaded soon. If it works ok, I’m going to build MK2 with a full HD video compact camera and maybe a screw-on fisheye adapter etc

I replaced my similar one with a part from a bike rack, a camming handle-thingy.

Here’s the definitive answer: If your braking force exceeds the grip of the tyre, skids will result. On a road oriented bike, skids are bad, mmmkay?

It’s always worked for me, I use the super-lightweight Maxxis ones for my ‘best’ wheels!
If the tyre is a bit loose, I put a layer of double-sided foam tape under the rimstrip.

I say buy ’em, ride ’em hard and let Wiggle fix them under warranty if they go pop.

This one is a bit more reliable, Marz air forks need a fiddly air adapter as well so coils are best:
160mm coil 55[/url] and even cheaper!

Don’t think the Crest is really designed for 2.5 tyres to be honest. I did have a similar experience with the 355 and a hi-roller and too much pressure when setting up. I had tp clean the conservatory after that one. Plenty of fairy liquid, less pressure and patience will work.

**Dont think crests are warrantied for tyres above 2.35 either**

Been using 2.5s on Crests for a long while without any problems. Behave well down to 20psi. I’ve been a narrow rim addict since the Bontrager MA40s but will get some Flows eventually when funds allow.
And as for warranty on rims, erm, has anyone ever tried to claim? How would you prove it? I only ever tacoed a rim once and that was poor tensioning on my part.

I’d prosecute the two cyclists who were with him too

If you read the various news reports the other two cyclists were cycling on the same road at the same time but were not connected in any other way. Another reason not to draft unknown cyclists!!!

Hi funbiketrentino, what’s the rear shock? I assume it’s an aftermarket replacement unless it’s a different spec in Italy.

I have just had some new bits arrive (rear 2.5 tyre, syncros 1.5 stem, grips, seatpost, saddle, bashring) so my final build will be ready in a couple of hours.

The rides I have completed so far have been mainly technical-ish uphill and I’m very impressed, as good as my 575 but with better front-end behaviour. I’ve yet to give it a full-on downhill test. I’m visiting Stanage Causeway, The Beast and Blackley Roman Road this week followed by Cannock on Sunday.
