Nice field watch that Breg. And no battery changes to worry about. Is the lume good?

That Tissot looks cheap and a bit nasty TBH. And you don’t need OCD to be upset by the misalignment issue. Send. Back.

PS What’s with the awful font?

    I like that Kryton.

Only G Shock delivers the tough, good looking utility watch.

I recently ordered the Timex Command Encounter SHOCK. I returned it as it was made of shit materials and the digital field was nothing like as clear and crisp as shown in the ad’s. RRP is £135 too! I paid £108 but got a full refund. It’d be okay for £55-ish.

I have nothing to add but I have to disagree with jkomo about Avignon. I first visited whilst Interrailing in summer 1987. Stunning town loved every minute of our camping stay there. Apart from an eight-hour thunderstorm that had tents floating downhill!

I visited again in 2016 and apart from the area around Le Palais du Pape, the place is a shithole.

I drove three hours from Gassin to get there, just to show my wife. What a waste of everything.

    I have the 42mm manual-wind. I’ve put it on a Hirsch strap.

It’s been really reliable and I love the look of it.

Ordered this tonight. I think it’s stunning yet simple and I love the contrasting polished / brushed facets.

matty – it’s a condenser dryer so there is no exhaust airflow.

I think no. 3 is the most likely.

Omegas are just ace aren’t they.

I bought this lovely thing on August 8th 1992 from WoS in Manchester. And it’s still going strong.

    Thanks Kryton.

I’ve got a Seamaster and a Constellation etc. but this is the one I go for.

So it doesn’t have to be a Swiss timepiece to groove your truffles.

Most of the £5k spent on an Omega goes to advertising, paying their ambassadors and staffing / lighting / renting the boutiques in airports and expensive shopping areas.

I’ve just put my Baltany 42mm military manual wind on a Hirsch Kent.

I think it looks lovely. Yes they are assembled in China but the movement is enclosed by stainless steel and sapphire crystal and the Seagull movement keeps good time. £180 + £32 for the strap.

I have the Diver One in blue.

I’ve had it since December 2018 and it’s been accurate and reliable. One battery change.

    They look and feel great.

Good choice for dad ‘n’ lad.

Better to have an MRI scanner and not need one than to need an MRI scanner and not have one

Will the scanner be charged with involuntary manslaughter?

A 3 Tesla magnet array will find anything metallic.

    Gary Numan.

I heard Are “Friends” Electric for the first time at a youth club disco in 1979.

I was awestruck by the analogue synth sound, the grittiness of the lyrics and Numan’s vocal delivery.

I’ve been a fan ever since.

My parents however thought he was as a deviant and did their best to discourage my interest! And failed.

Panic over. I phoned the manufacturer and explained the situation: 4 replacement handles on the way, gratis.

RRP for non-gratis spares: £84. Result.

Great customer service from R2 Bathrooms and Roper Rhodes.

I don’t think they are chromed-chromed. I think they are wrapped if that makes sense? It’s almost like a foil that is beginning to lift. Or is that how chrome presents when it has aged?

Had a male blackcap in our garden today. Pretty impressive considering we are four miles from Manchester city centre. Last time I saw one on our estate, I was 10 and it was 1979.

Watched first episode last night. Thought it was okay. If you’re going to make a point of the 60 mph winds, at least stump for a wind machine for the deck scenes.

And at least Compston was in native mode rather than that ridiculous Australian/cockney thing he does in LoD.

I do enjoy programming and using the I/O to monitor and control stuff but I want to get down to board and component level too.

I@m not making anything in particular Zilog. I just want to get encyclopedically knowledgeable about a few classic ICs and build a few simple circuits with each one.

    Not a UK101 or anything!

Well I chose Hobbytronics and they were very good.

I got four ICs (2×555, 1xMCU, 1x opto-isolator) delivered for under a tenner. Ordered Thursday, delivered this morning.
Good communication and well packaged and labelled.

    Thanks

It was because I’d effectively shorted the meter in my earlier attempt. Now it is in series proper.
