Blinkin’ ‘eck! You could’ve rested that on top of Oppenheimer’s “gadget” and it would have survived the test.

    I think you’re over-thinking it Kryton.

It’s a cool watch that you can hand down to your kids. It will last longer than xenon-124.

I really, really, really miss Shaun K.

    Decent music and intelligent humour.

And a nice interesting fella to boot.

Why did they replace him with the tedious Charles????

    Morecashthandash has it.

    Fiat 850 for sure.

    Thank you.

I think they have affixed the Dino badge for a laugh.

No to all the above I’m afraid.

The car was black and the badge was chrome lettering, quite jagged / spiky, not a plate.

    No, not a 308 GTS.

It looked a bit crappy TBH so one of the lesser marques.

    No, it was really petite.

    Have you looked at Baltany?

I have two. Great quality and value for money versus something like Timex or Seiko.

    https://baltany.co.uk/

They are assembled in China but they hold stock in the UK and the service is very good.

WE had a Dualit. It wasn’t great and finally failed.

After much research we plumped for this:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08HDMVL4H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It’s the most even-toasting toaster we’ve ever had and it’s under £50 and looks good.

A late, surprise gift handed over at 21:00 Christmas Day:

Minimalist Mondaine. De-badged and a strap made from grape skins and recycled PET. The crown is signed with the SBB logo.

Mrs. S said I must have a Swiss railway watch as I work for a Swiss company that supplies specialist tech’ to the rail industry. Don’t mind if I do!

    Together at last!

Mrs. S bought me a rather nice watch box for Christmas. Far more practical than individual boxes all over the place.

I’ve swapped the original bracelet for a non-OEM leather strap with deployment clasp.

    I think it looks lovely:

    £60 from Luxury Watch Straps.

On my first trip to Barnsley, I went for a piss in a pub and some dirty bugger had laid a cable in the urinal.

Sorry, no help to the OP but the thread title triggered a memory…

I’m still amazed (and frankly horrified) by the level of confusion surrounding the difference between a heart attack and a cardiac arrest. I’ve seen numerous headlines “He died after  suffering a massive cardiac arrest.”
Of course the former can precede and precipitate the latter but their only connection is the organ they affect.
AEDs are fantastic and offer a chance of survival that just wouldnt be there without them. Of course, they are of no use if the patient is in asystole but for those in VF (ventricular fibrillation or wobbly, ineffective heart rhythm) they are very good at restoring normal sinus rhythm.
I’d rather have a 50% chance of survival than 0%.

That new Seiko 5 is very handsome.

Not sure about the “pentagonal” GMT hand though.

Can anybody recommend a supplier of a non-OEM leather deployment strap for my Omega Seamaster 120M? And some decent springbars – both 20 mm.

    Looking to spend about £60.

I have a 63 KI Sig. It is the most musical thing I’ve ever heard. I bought mine from a guy who modified it way beyond the KI spec. Clocks, damping, servo board, loads of good stuff. The DAC itself was untouched so I now coax out to a Topping D50s

had a new laser fitted about 18 months ago by a skilled tech’ named Sally. Unfortunately, it transpired that Sally is a male paedophile who is now serving 14 years for abuse  of a minor.

I’ll have an ask around on a forum I’m on.

I replaced the patent strap with a Hirsch Kent in deep blue. It looks bloody lovely.

The Baltany watches represent really good VFM.

    @chewkw

Yes. Classis “mountain sickness” or hypoxia.

My case was more complicated as I was also serioulsy malnourished. I hadn’t eaten for three weeks and my  body had started to digest heart muscle! This meant my blood test showed the enzyme(s) that indicate a heart attack. I was a mess.

I had an experience where I thought I was dreaming but actually wasnt. I “dreamt” i was in a hospital bed but the nurses i could see were like angels in pure white uniforms. I looked at my watch and it had a dozen or more hands so was unreadable. Then a sound roused me. India 99, GMP’s helicopter* was circling nearby.

    *pre NPAS

It transpired that I had been admitted to hospital with dangerously low oxygen saturation (66%). I was hypoxic on air and was transfered to ICU.

I spent three weeks in hospital being treated for an autoimmune disease that had attacked my lungs’ gas transfer ability.

Wegener’s Granulomatosis was diagnosed from symptoms and CT scans.

@tthew –  have you had a look at Crafter Blue’s range?

I have one of their silicons on my Samurai and it looks the bollocks as the ends are radiused to snuggle up to the case. They’re not cheap (£70^) but they’re very good quality.

Me and HtS used to work with an odious bastard who had a faux leather jacket that was exactly the same colour as a Caramac. I didn’t eat them after that.

So…I’m sorry but I’m giving myself a lift by mentioning that there may a Samurai in the classifieds for a great price.

Let’s have a real VFM post:

My new Baltany 39mm retro military auto.

100m WR, sapphire AR glass, screw-down crown and Seiko auto movement.

I changed the OEM strap to a Hirsch Kent as I like them. And it came on tan which I hate.

Watch was just £150 with a voucher code.

    Now that is VFM.

I can’t imagine it would heat up gaidong’s gentleman’s area.

Well  I ran my 2002 Seamaster 120m automatic chronometer against a digital stopwatch for 24 hours and the result was +/- 0.00 s.

    And it’s never been serviced.

    Not bad eh?
