    Typical STW

Thols2 – it’s a small engine. He’s not running an A380 for shits and giggles.

    Phew!

I opened my watch case and was worried to see a blank display on my Certina Chronolympic (ca. 1977).

The chances of finding a replacement module for this are low to zero so if a new battery didn’t revive it, it was toast.

I rummaged through my bits and bobs bin and wahey, I found a new Renata 390.

I couldn’t get the back off quickly enough! So, battery in place and back secured I nervously turned it over to see the result. LIFE – the display was working and the watch ready to set. Many sighs of relief.

It’s in lovely condition considering it’s 47 years old.

I agree with ElShal. Baltany. A great range of designs with Q, auto and manual movements. I have two, both under £180 with sapphire.

@Kryton57 – do you have a link (‘scuse  the pun) to the ebay supplier of that strap? I think it would look great on my Lunar Pilot. What length is it? I have a 7″ wrist so need a bit of longiness.

Well – it’s official. I am getting old.

DPD driver knocked on the door at 09:30 this morning and handed over a package from First Class Watches.

What did I do? Put it to one side and cracked on with finish painting the kitchen cupboard doors in Brooklyn grey!

I’ll open it early evening and post pics of my NWD.

I’m 55 BTW and I’m not a DIY fanatic. I just wanted to progress the budget update of our kitchen.

    Rhinelander > Chicago > Manchester

    A brand new copy of Stephen King’s Needful Things (I’m a poet…)

I once flew Manchester > Paris with a pistol barrel in my briefcase (inadvertently)

    Wasn’t even challenged!

If that AERA had a date window I would buy one. It’s really nice.

Luming the brand name is genius.

I found this languishing in a cupboard. Think it’s about 16 years old.

    Nice looking watch I think.

Surely only saturation divers “need” a 300 m watch?

Pantsman – your collection is by no means pants. Very impressive.

Any chance of some more detailed pic’s perhaps one row at a time.

And tell which is the rarest and what’s your favourite and why.

Baltany are a good VFM brand. I have two and they have been very reliable. Build quality and specifications belie their pricing.

I changed the supplied straps for Hirsch.

    Who’s the **** now?

Taken from the bedroom window during today’s heavy and prolonged rain (22/05/2024).

Not so bright woodpigeons getting soaked through:

And pan up to the house opposite to see two clever ****s making good use of a dish and the eaves!

    This has rekindled bad memories!

In August 1992 I bought an Omega Constellation from WoS in Manchester. I was soooooo chuffed with it. Two weeks later I went to Provence with a mate for a road trip.

And I wore the new watch. And I scuffed the case on a waterslide…take the Arnie!

I’d love a VRS but I’m precluded from ownership due to the high risk of carjacking / home intrusion-to-seize keys in my wonderful city.

I know two people who have experienced the latter for this vehicle. One of them wasn’t even the owner – the car was parked adjacent to his house!

    Crash Test Dummies.

Their excellent debut album, The Ghosts That Haunt Me and their second, perfect offering, God Shuffled His Feet were followed by a salvo of shit.

It’s like they all simultaneously lost all songwriting and musical abilities. Such a shame. One of the best gigs I ever attended was their 1994 performance at Manchester’s Apollo.

Me and Mrs. S chose Swimming in Your Ocean for our wedding first dance.

I wonder how many folk think that the wheels of diesel locomotives are powered by a diesel engine / gearbox?
