yes- I have one with the maps pack, 1:50k works fine.
you can clearly see roads and bridleway lines etc and can zoom in to a level where the limit is the accuracy of the OS map, not the GPS.
whatever mapping you use, the screen size is obviously fixed, and sometimes glare is a bit annoying but its worked well for me i think.
loads of websites to pre-plot your route from and upload to follow the blue line.
using it as a sat nav is a bit hit and miss though…

if you find you’re wanting more map detail you can always add custom maps of an area too- by getting another map detailed image or whatever. see youtube and web for this

we were also told our area would be a major target, near Hanslope park, and our school was right near one of the few oxide works so apparently that would have to be taken out.

what the previous episode brought home to me is how there seems to be this never ending need for America, (with us tagging along) to invent the next boogeyman. if its not the russian bear, its gonna be Saddam, then its Osama and international tourists terrorists…

    *SPOILER*
yeah, remember seeing Threads as a lad and everyone going on about it at school afterwards.

probably looks dated now but it was very powerful how it was filmed. I still remember the feeling I got and how real it seemed (and how it actually would be) when the guys in sheff are standing there on the hill and see the bomb impacted a couple of miles away, having time to say in disbelief ‘they’ve done it’, and knowing you’d be helpless and gonna cop it yourself in a short while….. 😯

I think its actually quite clever isn’t it?

the real religious bigots, of whatever persuasion, close minded and those who refuse to tolerate / integrate with others would be the ones exposed….

i was thinking yesterday that the Aus total was not a bad score at all for day 1.
good old england, back to the time-honoured collapses.
Going to bed is like being a kid at christmas, thinking when you wake up it’ll be OK. Only its not.
this morning for example, woke up, saw Tremlett had been batting – “what’s he in for already?? ah, must just be a night watchman…. WHAT???”

Will Cook ever get his batting consistency up again or will the role of captain cook weigh heavy and affect his performances at the crease?

its not just the pov stricken or gone-of-sanity either you know.

I was told by a builder I once worked with that he’d been for a morning meeting on the house he was doing up for a well to do big city lawyer.
client was sat there eating his frosties with a steaming dog plop just on the kitchen floor nearby.
Builder subtly pointed this out to him in case he hadn’t noticed, but was reassured that the housekeeper would deal with it later. 😀

    interesting one this.
That pic oldgit shows up there makes it look like there would be loads of room for either a faster riding or running competitor to get past, without expecting a slower runner to move.

I thought people were suggesting that even if you’re somewhere where there physically no room (eg wooded singletrack with high bushes either side), a runner, walker, or stationary racer having a rest, could effectively block the whole track for a bit.
    is that really allowed?

I agree that shouting ‘rider’ is not helpful. However, if someone’s basically standing across the track sorting their dropped chain out when you’re trying to ride (or indeed carry) past I’d say thats simply not on, what?

    what nickjb said.

also, remember you can drop in and see the ‘duty planner’ that many LAs have, mainly to deal with initial stages of domestic issues.
remember you don’t have to be the owner to talk about the principle of planning/changes on the property. could be useful to take a print or two off of google maps/bing etc. to show what is adjacent/neighbouring if similar.
Also, if the LA has an online archive, search on the address or nearby properties to see what has been approved / turned down recently. many of these have pdfs of the drawings…

isnt it the case that if something has been built and used for 5 years+ it gets deemed to have been consented anyway?

Unless the LA had put an enforcement order on, couldnt the previous owners have kept schtum..?
    that doesnt help I know..

and a cold floor would be a nightmare IMO- I had one in a house i rented as the conservatory had been ‘brought in’ to the kitchen and it made the whole area freezing.

I used to think in that mcdonalds advert, the song was addressing the ingredients, rather than giving quantities, ie

“to all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce….. etc”

    rather than
    “two all-beef patties…”

    > You’ve gotta have a full facer and 6inch travel minimum to be riding that.

    > Easily doable on a fully rigid or cross bike that is.

    > you want to try barefoot running for your first 10k.

    @northwind- exactly,
    but who’s doing it right?
i know many jews who eat bacon, muslims who drink alcohol and dont always pray 5 times a day.

as an arbiter I think perhaps the most devout should decide-
    here’s osama aged 15.

its a real hot potato innit. personal freedom versus intimidating/offending.

I’d personally go with France, that religions should be more like ‘a hobby’ than an intrinsic part of what you ‘are’. trouble is, that doesn’t sit well with some religions.

Given that all religions are based on works of fiction written at various times in the past then I don’t think any religion should be able to claim special cases as to how they dress.

    Wot, not even Pastafarians??

going back to the OP, if the implication from the image is that one might be ‘scary’ or a ‘terrorist’, as a resident of the good old united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland, I know which I’d think would be more likely to be bombing innocent civilians 😯

    henley hilly

I did this route as an audax from Sonning Common a few years ago- a great audax, well reccommended as an event whenever its on.
maybe you can stitch together a shorter route from that shown.

I know exactly where that is- I sometimes ride that way to Asda.

What an absolute trollop that driver is- your grannies not gonna get any more dead in the 10 seconds you might be delayed is she FFS!

mind you, cyclist did seem to be exercising his right to ride ‘primary’ for quite a long time there. could he have not got further over to right to let car pass on inside? especially as it was her grandmothers funeral.

mind you, if ‘they’ can’t get on the benefits bandwagon, at least I’ve seen them setting up hand car wash £5 off their own back, trying to get something going after risking it all getting here, not sitting on their non-brown thoroughbred (obese) arses.

EDIT, sorry, my point is that the immigrant issue is a red herring- the numbers dont stack up- we have enough home-grown people trying but not able to find a job (whilst the economy is knacked)and enough home-grown people who will abuse the system

a question for those who have done the 3 peaks-
how much (time wise) would you say is rideable and how much was carry?
I know a fair bit of the main hills are unrideable.
    cheers 🙂

I think maybe there are fewer MTBers just going for strava points than roadies, I know I’m generally out there enjoying the ride as much as poss.
having said that, I guess off road comparisons should be more like-for-like as there may be less drafting effect and less wind assistance (generally).

going on to strava – sadness,
One thing I noticed after a road ride the other night with a group of local strava-baggers, we’d done a generally quick ride but one segment particularly slowly because we’d gone past the ‘start’ then ended up waiting a while for a puncture or something.
(sad I know) but I checked the other guys on the group’s time for comparison, and I couldnt find it just on that segment – I think they’d actually clicked HIDE segment, presumably to not look bad- WTF???

no real expertise here on what quantity/weight to lift,
and not wanting to be over-cautious but just a reminder that if using a bar on your own it could be a problem if you get into difficulty for whatever reason…

OP – was it a ‘burp’ or a blowout?
I’ve had both, sounds more like a blowout from your description.
only had these where the pressure is too HIGH, literally stretching the bead off the rim and damaging it beyond use.
Can you still fit the tyre on?
a burp can happen even with UST tyre and rim systems,
but I’ve never had one with ZTR rims, stans-compatible normal tyres (eg maxxis, schwalbe) AND the right rimstrip.
are you using rimstrip or just the tape?

in my experience, jumping the red just before its about to go green is the absolute WORST time to do it, particularly at urban crossroads. Why?

because on the opposite sequence, just as you dont expect it, some tipper truck is hitting the floor with his accelerator cos his green has just gone amber… DONT DO IT KIDS, stay safe.

RLJ a ped crossing with no peds? i have been known.
RLJ a left turn on red? yep. i have been known. when safe. just like ‘murca.

    Article on SKY training

Interesting read on SKY’s training intervals above, including high cadence efforts.

I loved that attack on steak-boy, he seemed to put 200m into him within a couple of seconds! the riding action seated acceleration was like watching a 10-year old burning round the local park, legs going round in a whirlwind!
