Question for the coaches / tacticians. Eng were getting battered after losing a flanker on the second yellow and were on the verge of conceding points big time. Why not temporarily switch up burgess to no.7 role to steady the ship, or is that not the done thing??

Pardon my ignorance but what are open tubs? Do they fit on tubular rims?
    Thanks.

Some nice bikes on here. A question for those posting bikes with tubs- do you actually take them out for long rides?? I’d love to use my cx more than for racing but I’m scared sh1tless about getting a puncture even a few miles from home… No way to repair on the fly right??

after applying for literally every WC match I could, managed to get tickets in the residents ballot, so got a pair for each of:

    Eng V Wales
    Aus V Wales
    and SF1

never been to WC match before so its gonna be great! 😀

    TEMPEST!
    nice one- thats it.
    “AVOID SPIKES” Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!

bit left field here, but did you ever play the proper arcade machine Frogger? that was superb. proper chunky feel to the game play.

another vote for fubar’s on p1,

also loved Gauntlet (though never got very far) and Gorf, Galaxian and other side-scrollers like R-TYPE.

but the one I proper got into spending time on in my second arcade ‘age’ as a student on was called
    X-MULTIPLY,

what was the vector- drawn one with a rotary dial controal that you fired into the centre ? that was cool

Mmm yes I guess it could only be as tight as a whole link module would allow anyway… cheers, will reconsider.

Can’t give you a gpx at the moment but I can definitely recommend that route, it’s a cracker. Nothing majorly technical but the descents are a lot of fun if you let go,and a really nice part of the Peak not usually well known. Opposite way round is possibly even better, whichever one you start by going downhill and the up out on bridleway rather than road start. Enjoy. Wasn’t that boggy when I did it after a lot of rain other than a couple of sections

Soooooo much fail in that vid!
If the guy without shirt (presumably he was just out shopping) actually wanted a fight, why is he not letting bossin get out of his car ffs?!
Why does bossin kick his own door open instead of simply stepping out?

Loving the concerned looking hipster in suede trying to calm it down too.

    Nob’eads.

See if you can find a gpx or on line route for derby Mercury’s china tea pot audax route, a great 100k loop sw Derbyshire / Burton to King’s Bromley etc, fradley. Lovely route that was, and you can obviously join at the easiest point on the loop.

thats the power of the Peak! never underestimate it. I have before to my peril 😀

imagine if you’d been in summer kit on the MTB a few miles up on even higher ground.

Its weird how one can be apparently close to civilisation but also close to panicking about potentially dangerous exposure!

    yep. scumbags.

I’ve seen it happen after a home match too, not at anyone in particular but singing on the opposite platform at fulham broadway about “send em back, send the p***s back”.
that was before video phones, dont think it would happen so brazenly now but thats not the point of course.

    DenDennis

That’s it. English need the next score to steady the ship. AND BOOM!

    Composure now required

I know the feeling only too well. It can also happen on RABs without sliproads, e.g. stationary motorbikes taking off like its moto Gp time and catching up your rear end in about 1.5sec…. 😯

As above,if in doubt just take the safest option…

some of those having nibali beyond question on the early pages of this thread seem to be a little conspicuous by their absence. 😀

either way, good point on previous page regarding the idea that other doping team members should also null the winner’s result

I had a flat there, was renting it out, you could have got a good price from me!
Spent a few days there but no experience of living there.
That was up at warrior sq, the St Leonard’s end. Proper old sea front and clean ish pebble beach… Seemed not to be overrun by crusties with dog on string as per Brighton of old.
You’ve got St Leonard’s old town too with one or two great ale pubs and decent gastro. The coast all the way along west and east makes a great bike ride, i.e. out to rye or Eastbourne, on road. The idea of living on the coast with the sea air an openness really appealed. As above, it’s a long winding road to get to anywhere northward by car,
Decent coast paths and bridleways have amazing views. ..

    Interested in this too.
Where/what is best tube to get/use for a 700×50 tyre on a road rim?
    Not sure what suits… ta

Im wondering whether itz difficult to compare England and the other six nations on the basis of these matches? Anyone else think the SANZ teams only really wanting to beat eng?

Mine was get a proper bike fit. Dont want saddle too high such that when heels are down it over-extends the muscle at back of knee but best to make sure you’ve got the full fit otherwise you could put something else out fella.

but in general my solution was to stop locking the knee out whether on or off the bike.

    DenDennis

as above, get a decent physio to review.
When I had this it was due to me over-extending the popliteal muscle.

I always had quite flexible hamstrings and had thought I was quite clever being able to touch my toes with knees locked out. do not do this, when stretching hamstring always make sure you have a slight bend in the knee.

I’m interested in this too as I’ll be moving to the area to.
Would mainly join if part of CX leagues.

Can anyone tell me whether Kingston WCC and TwickenhamCC are affiliated/members of local CX leagues so club member points get counted, like NDCXL, or does the individual need to get themselves affiliated to whatever league.

I’ve seen that Twickenham CC’s membership fee is £40pa, is that quite steep?

    thanks 😀

I had a KOM due to GPS malfunction that I was proud of(there was no way that twisty DH could be done at over 50kph). some devil flagged it after about a year.

It is quite fun as long as you don’t let it take over your life (yes, many do, and think its ‘actual racing’).

The most objective use is on off-road uphills, i.e. fewer opportunities for favourable conditions

if comparing to others just be aware that there are people sad enough (and I know at least one) who plan their ride on a windy day by taking the bike on a train out to a station in the direction the wind is coming from and ride back from there.

    Have we mentioned THIS

BBC Sport has apologised after an embarrassing teamsheet gaffe involving the Welsh rugby union player Jake Ball.

On their online team list, Scarlets lock Ball was listed as ‘Jake Ballsack’, causing scarlet faces at the BBC Sport website.

you know that Nasty Nick bateman off of the early (1st?) big brother?
I’ve punched him in the face*

I’ve also been offered a magnum or similar ice cream off of superstar DJ Andrew Weatherall. he was just popping out for one while he was waiting at the hair salon.

*OK it was actually in a kick-boxing class but I did punch the fecker in his gormless fizzog.

i see. would be fun I guess but certainly different to CX.

looks a bit like the XC eliminator held in Pickering prior to the Dalby world cup- that looks a good laugh:

    Quality letter and story!

I believe residents of Fournier St include ‘artists’ Gilbert and George among others.
I could show you which house.

To be fair to their much publicised eccentricities they do stick to them and I have enjoyed an authentic turk kofte on a couple of occasions when they have arrived as per their habit ( same restaurant every week night)

Most mens Plan B = anyone breathing.

perhaps but there’s not the element of specifics.

    And

You’re probably several Women’s “Plan B” then, they probably all reckon they could supplant MrsPJM…

I dont think it works like that, the plan-B bloke definitely wants to be it (or rather plan-A)!

    DenDennis

thanks for your honesty VP- you must be one of the purported ‘57%’…

the plan-B is definitely a real thing, and I’ve known female friends to openly discuss who there’s is and so on.

as a bloke I’d personally find this attitude offensive and not what (we’re told) ‘real love’ is supposed to be all about and all that sh1t.

any other female forumites care to add their views/experiences?

    from Woodys link up there^

Apparently nearly half of women in relationships have a back-up bloke – a man waiting in the wings in case things don’t work out with you.
A whopping 43 per cent of women have a Mr Plan B, according to a survey of 2,000.
Unsurprisingly, the most likely candidate is an ‘old friend’ – yes, it’s that guy who is ‘just like a brother’ to her.
Others might be ex-boyfriends or ex-husbands, colleagues or someone they have met at the gym.
Back-up bloke is typically someone she’s known for about seven years and there’s a one in three chance you’ve met him already.

yeah, I think Chris Rock has a routine along these lines, says its like having a D1ck in a glass jar, with a label *Break in case of emergency* 😆

btw, any womens reading this care to admit whether you have a back-up man and the reasons? fear of commitment?

oldgit that cant be healthy and you probably perform so much better hydrated

bloody hell oldgit you’re probably doing yourself a mischief that may surface at any moment!

hydration/nutrition obviously not needed during a cross race, but have you tried drinking on longer rides to see what happens? if not, go on, I dare you!
I find it doesnt make me go any faster, I just dont ‘fade’ towards the end as quick….
    probably helps recovery as well.

Oh, and the general OP point- I find at my age I need a very long warm-up to stand any chance of not going into the red zone and then pop very quickly.

mind you, imagine if you’d “stayed over” at mr Winton’s and were complimenting him on his brunch offering. 😯
