really? how this? do you set up a webcam with the instructor or something?

was about to post ‘cue the naysayers’….. 😆
whatever you think of money spent on coaching, my experience is its many times more valuable than money spent on kit to ‘improve’ your riding/enjoyment of MTB

One of the issues here throughout this thread has been poorly defined terms and word that we take to mean different things.

thats why the use of words such as subconcious are not useful. its a word with no definition. everyone thinks they know what it is = no one can define it

agreed. lots of life is subjective. that’s the beauty of it.
In this context, by subconscious I would say ‘thoughts going on in the dark recesses of your brain that you are not aware of’

and those are the parts that a lot of logo/brand/marketing attempts to tap into.

if you are truly immune to such an effect TJ, then I salute you.
whats more, I shall contact the CIA in due course.

2- TJ, are you in complete control of your subconscious thoughts?

I have no idea what you mean by subconcious. Not a term I believe to be useful.

OK, have you ever had a dream? ever remember any thoughts in that dream that you wouldn’t necessarily consider happenning in real waking life?

    EDIT
    3 Are you Terminator?

apologies (to myself mainly) for coming back into this thread.
not sure if the following has been dealt with on recent pages but I’d like to ask TJ:

    1- in relation to

in the context of people claiming the font gave meaning such as businesslike or similar that was universal and inherent.

can you show where this has actually been claimed? I know people have stated that its impossible (for mortals) to separate an item and its branding (due to mental associations etc) but that’s not claiming the same..

2- TJ, are you in complete control of your subconscious thoughts?

OK chaps if you think you’re actually going to get anywhere with this, I think you’re mistaken.
All that is happening is the metaphorical coffers of the TJshow budget are being boosted. to be fair he needs some distraction.

Tails will be chased and greasy pigs will remain uncaptured, that is as far as things will go. To look at things objectively

    – TJ simply CANNOT be right due to the following:
no evidence such as hard facts, data, links to guardian articles, research papers, statutory advice, wiki pages or laws have been provided. This is the usual way that we are shown what is right. All that has been submitted is personal experience and anecdote

Poor old ELF- the first casualty of war is always the innocent.

and on that basis, I’m out

Oh, and I’ve always liked the simplicity of this logo

The red triangle was used on the beer pumps in the days when most folk were illiterate so they knew which one to ask for. easily recognisable, nothing more than that. the epitome of a good logo

Bass logo. excellent choice, such a good design that even the illiterate can recognise it.

hang on, isnt it only the ‘arty farty’ intelligentsia who are into all this winky stuff…. that it would mean anything to?

TJ; what in the name of the Sweet Little Baby Born In Bethlehem are you banging on about? Seriously?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody wronger than this on the forum.

You are so wrong, that in the Scale Of Wrongness, you are a Custard Yellow Fiat Multipla driven by a naked man with blue-painted testicles and an echidna up his bottom.

    Please stop. Please.

ELF- you’ve taken on the equivalent role of those big bald blokes who take away the screaming teen from Simon Cowell’s stage as she’s going “BUT I CAN SING! I KNOW I CAN!”

    DenDennis

Your now astonishingly immovable belligerence, and repeated use of the same phrases suggested you ran out of steam a while ago, but have gone too far to ever admit, even to yourself, that you might be wrong. There is therefore no point continuing this debate.

Its supposed to be “and on that basis, I’m oot”

TJ- so I guess in future, the lesson is owners will look to get together quick sharp and employ their own tradesmen…. how much notice do you get?

In my experience the council’s notice ‘period’ was a formality, not real consultation, as they’d already got the contractors mobilised, instructed and ready to go within 3 months- in EnglandLand we don’t get the option to do it yerself if part-owned by council

    DenDennis
    Free Member

This is mental. Can the council charge costs for works on any privateley owned building they want or is it something to do with previously council-owned building stock?

If your chimney is in an unstable condition TJ you should get the scotch equiv of building control round to condemn it- they would be a separate body to those carrying out the works, no?

    TJ page 3

    TandemJeremy – Member

1 and 3 do what is required equally well – the rest look winky

MF – my point is the difference is only to people in your world who care about logos – the rest of us it makes no odds to at all

now its become ‘not as many as the branding people think’ -quite a come down for TJ (about as much as he’d ever give I reckon) 🙂

    What this reminds me of is those tone deaf people who go on Xfactor;
Simon Cowell: why are you gonna win xfactor?
Contestant: Cos I’m a great signer
Simon Cowell: how do you know that?
Contestant: Well I think I am and me nan and mates say I’m great
Simon Cowell: lovely, let’s hear it
**belts out some godawful drivel accompanied by backing track**
    Simon Cowell: you can’t sing
Contestant: OH YEAH? WHAT DO YOU KNOW?

Good branding works without you even realising it, this is why large blue chip companies spend a fortune on it.

Some people on here need to accept they can learn a thing or two.

^This. Designs or concepts that seem the simplest are usually the hardest to realise.

[don’t get me wrong, I loathe the pushing of needless consumption, but I’d be a fool to claim I know more about business than, say, mr Red Bull by purporting that visual brand marketing doesn’t work very well]

Jeebus, is that scottish law or local edinburgh council?
I’ve been stung by freeholder repair bills myself and it drives one mental, but not in that sort of region…

I wouldnt do the doc but if you are, try not to sign anything until you’re happy of the content as far as you can be….

Also if the Architect has been as bad as you allege you’d be advised to report them to the ARB disciplinary board.

    Best of luck with all

TJ, I think you ought to get in touch with the bigwigs at coke, pepsi, google, facebook, bbc, redbull, and all those other wasteful institutions, and quick mind, before anyone off here steals your insight.
I’m sure they’d be happy to renumerate you handsomely for your information that their money spent on visual/branding identity has been wasted. you could get, i dunno, perhaps 20% of their annual budget savings? 😆

sorry, I didn’t want that. I’m quite enjoying the discourse now on TJ- the Brand.
1 says to me TJ in brogues, man about town, snappy dresser.
3 says no-nonsense, designer glasses, bootlace tie, britpop TJ

by the way, for the record I hate branding/marketing as much as your average Bill Hicks but to deny its effect would be putting to waste rather a lot of corporate$$… What is Red Bull for example? marketing Tosh but they have certainly got rich peddling it

Not at all Druidh – its simply not buying it.

I pity anyone who believes in all this stuff and who wastes their life and / or money doing it.

TJ Why would you keep posting on a thread about a subject that you’re clearly against / not interested in or don’t ‘get’?
are you trying to convert people?

I’m not a graphic designer – but there isn’t a word (that I’m aware of) for words that look like the thing they describe so onomatopoeic will have to do.

I’ve mentioned before, what is interesting is that of the big ‘3’, Alberto HAS to attack to get time back. When will he do this? I suspect stage 18 Galibier. If he does it and gets on level terms with AShl then it will be squeaky bum time for the latter!
If no one attacks on 18 then I reckon there’ll be a token effort by Ashl that gets marked and Cadel will do it on TT.
OR, has AShl been holding back, for the big dig himself on stage 18???

I had this problem till I found a tube of ‘fiber grip’ stuff.

NOT GREASE. its like a synthetic abrasive that gives added friction for assembling carbon parts. works in my steel frame/alu post
