    bullandbladder,

This is a forum – threads solicit opinion. I’m not keen on what I’ve seen, whether it’s being promoted or otherwise.

I’m not detracting from the hard work and application that’s gone into building what’s been done – it’s just not to my taste and is part of a continuing movement in trail building that I find dis-heartening.

I honestly would prefer the fire roads.

Melodramatic or not, we seem to be in an age where everything has to be adulterated and traipsed upon – and for me these additions have a lessening effect. Penmachno always represented something a little more organic and untouched.

Perhaps I’m being small minded because I don’t have the ability to ride it like the lads in the vid. :D

    bullandbladder,

Drop the emoticons and ‘haters gonna hate’ sillyness and understand that other people have a point of view, which may be at variance with yours.

That was soul destroying – RIP Penmachno.

Loved the natural feel to the rest of it but that 4ft wide pathway (it isn’t a trail) represents all that’s wrong with Uk trail building at present. It isn’t even mountain biking.

    Cheers all,

I know it should be under Outlook, but it didn’t work so I tried the other options.

Fetch New Data is set to Push.

Still borked – ARRRRGHHH getting on my t1ts now.

    tried changing it to outlook.com?

Within Settings – Mail – Contacts, Calendars – Add Account I’ve tried to link my Hotmail via ‘Exchange’ & ‘Outlook’ – but it still doesn’t work. I’ve used ‘Other’ that halfway works in that I can send and receive Emails but I have to manually refresh – emails are not pushed through (alerts are set up correctly in Notifications).

I’m building a steel Switchback up at the moment. I was initially a bit miffed when I found the Ti was coming out, as I might have waited, however the retail price is going to be £1600, which is out of my range … or rather the advantages over steel is not justified at that price.

I’m still looking for real world experiences from Switchback owners – the few I have found say it climbs reasonably well and isn’t wandery.

I’ve always found traveling in and out of Bristol from the northern extremities a real fag.

Have a look at North Somerset – Nailsea, Clevedon, Portishead areas.

    Any pics?
What fork have you got fitted – travel?
How well does the slack geometry manage the climbs?

I’m currently purchasing bits each month for my build.

That’s some goalkeeper stat – 162 goals conceded in 40 games!

The SM coach might be better off just sticking a sack of spuds in the goal mouth … prone to chips though.

I ordered a front light from RC last week at what was a very good price and it arrived two days letter without drama. I’ve never had any problems with orders previously made with them. You only need one bad experience to put you off though.

I ordered a KS Lev dropper from Bike-Discount.Com in Germany, which was borked and showed signs of having been previously purchased and returned. Consequently, I’m leary of ordering from them again.

It’s a bit naughty to advertise something for sale that’s not capable of being posted immediately to the purchaser, unless there’s clear notice that there will be a delay in dispatch. Not returning calls and being accessible is also poor, irrespective of how competitively priced the article is.

There are particular retailers that I’ll avoid because of the consistently poor reviews they get on here.

You should have been supplied two different lengths of nylon hex bolt – you’re missing the smaller one.

I can’t find them as stand alone Exposure accessories without purchasing the whole bracket mount.

This is a link from a previous STW thread, should you wish to get some made up – http://www.componentforce.co.uk/category/456/hex-socket-head-cap-screws

Stanton Switchback seems to meet all your requirements. The Ti version is just around the corner.

Superbly forged and robust shells housing great LED’s producing high quality beams- overall Exposure produce hugely reliable, interoperable, hassle free lights without cable faffage across an extensive range. Unsurprisingly those things come at a price. Well, well worth it as far as I’m concerned.

Stress induced anxiety. I wouldn’t attribute it just to the long hours on the road, which is obviously a factor – but background stresses might have ‘latched on’ to the traveling aspect when the problem runs deeper.

Sounds like you need a break to chill out. Examine your workload, home/family life, diet & sleep to see if any moderation’s or adjustments need to be made.

Ensure you make time for activities that float your boat away from all the above – like the restorative powers of MTB’ing.

As you’ve identified, a lighter more capable fork would make a noticeable difference. I’d be looking at something like this –

Didn’t get on with Revelation Space but thought I’d give Alistair Reynolds another go – just read the excellent Chasm City – great space opera thriller – about identity I guess.

Also, Leviathan Wakes by James Corey – fast moving and doesn’t require a degree in orbital dynamics to understand like some of the high Sci-Fi out there.

No mention of Michael Moorcock yet? I used to like the Jerry Cornelius books, and the Eternal Champion series was very good. Also maybe not science fiction, but the line between fantasy and sci-fi can be a bit blurred at times…

    – happy memories of reading the Elric saga when I were a lad.
