You get a lot of bike for your bang. I think they’re stunning.

Bit too capable for me – it’d be like Johnny Vegas riding Kauto Star :D

    And welcome to the forum.

The tool is the best tenner I’ve spent on bike tools for a while

I bought the tool after snipping some skin off my thumb

    +1

Yeah, my Park Tool MLP1.2 Master Link Pliers arrived yesterday and were put to use straightaway. They’ve already lowered my blood pressure and spared the neighbours from listening to a foul mouthed tirade.

    About time.

My monies on Mayweather (although I lost money on Groves and Froch – so what do I know). 40 odd fights and unbeaten and I don’t think he’s seen the canvass properly. Pacquiao has a big dig on him but it’s whether it gets through or not.

    Hora,

If you’re interested, my bother-in-law is selling 3 Patterdale’s (with a hint of Lakeland – Patterdale mated with a Patterdale Lakeland cross mother). Two are black and the other is tan and black. All three are bitches.

Apparently they’re fantastic around kids, loyal (and good ‘ratters’ – my BiL is a farmer in Hampshire).

Do the lines need shortening? If so it answers your question as you’ll need to disconnect the hoses for that and you may as well do this at the same time.

I don’t think the lines need shortening. I know that I’ll have to disconnect the hoses – I was just after some quick tips from the hive on what to expect, what I’ll need to do and the tools required. It seems from further research a bleed is inevitable and I’d like to know how to do it in any case.

I did take a look at your website, which I found intuitive and helpful. I’ve downloaded an instructional PDF & I’ll order a Stroker bleed kit from you in the next day or two, swap the hoses over and see how I get on – thanks, mate.

I thought they were flip flop?

I think I know what you mean – but the Hayes Stroker graphics would be inward facing and my OCD would find that difficult to cope with.

I have a PS3 and you’ve always struck me as one of the good guys on here.

I don’t really need mine now. You can have it if you like.

Drop me an email if you decide to go down that route and it’s yours.

    It’s boxed, with controller/leads etc.

Karma to bearnecessities – good to see. And I agree about the good guy comment.

My prescription for man-flu is a nice crusty baguette with Heinz Cream of Chicken soup and a packet of Rowntree’s Randoms, rising to two packets of RR’s twice daily if symptoms persist.

You invited opinion and became churlish because you didn’t get the outrage at CRC you wanted. Look at the language you’ve used – its deliberately emotive, seemingly designed to influence us to sympathise with your position. CRC have been more than fair within the T&C’s and their subsequent offer of the fiver off some kit. Put this down to experience and forget about it.

I’m all for keeping a bike up together and maintained, however they are mountain bikes after all – a few battle scars and whatnot adds character. That’s not to say we have to accept inferior designs/material that lend themselves to wear, but we might need to lower our expectations somewhat in this instance.

You’d think from my gait I could pass a pig in a corridor. That’s transferred a little to my riding style, although I’ve tried to eradicate it by cleat alignment and bringing my knees in-board, but crank-arm wear is inevitable for me.

    mtbel – Member

Viz top tip – actually ride your bike and you won’t ever see the outer faces of your crank arms. ride it quickly enough and no one else will either.

Not a ‘Bigger Hitter’ as such, but where’s Shibboleth gone? His last post was 10 months ago according to his forum activity. He often amused me. Disappeared or present but under a different moniker?

I don’t think many actors get much of a look-in when Philip Seymour Hoffman is in the scene, whether he’s lead or support.

I watched him recently in The Master* and A Most Wanted Man – mesmeric in both with more stage presence than many of the more contemporary matinee idol type actors will ever dream of possessing.

    Departed in his prime.

    * – having said that Joaquin Phoenix competed with him superbly, but not many do.

    I have done.

Most people are only a few unfortunate turn of events from ending up on the street.

^^^ Glad someone posted that and worth repeating – never a truer a word spoken on this forum. To think otherwise would be utter folly. The line between some of our cosey STW lifestyles and homeless/impoverished despair is paper thin. No-one’s above life and what it can throw at you at any stage … or deal to you from the start.

Cheers Jb – thought I was missing something.

Well that is good news. Call me old fashioned but I much prefer the heptic feel of a paper magazine over lifting the lid of a lap-top, but then I always preferred vinyl 12″ – although, my music is all digital nowadays :(

    It’s a brave move.

Is there anything to suggest that Cranked’s a paper and not an online magazine?

International Mountain Bike Magazine is well worth a read.

Hacked off with rides being brought to a quicker end than I’d have liked due to my frostnipped toes near dropping off, I invested in some Sealskinz Thick Mid Length Socks. Expensive for a sock but so worthwhile – proper snug and waterproof.

Could well be Asthma. Just goes to show that ailments can manifest differently in people! Asthma has different triggers – for me it’s temperature change and cold damp air. It’s relieves when I warm up.

They are THE worst performing mountain bike product I’ve ever used. Outright junk.

High Roller II at the front Ardent at the back. I’m not a tyre swapper though – the Ardent’s not too good in the goo.

    Cheers for the recommendations.

I’ll take a look at those suggested.

eTrex looks favourite given specs, price and that it’s button operated as opposed to touch screen, which might be problematic in wet/muddy conditions.

I want the unit mounted to the bars and don’t wish to tax my mobile with navigational duties, ideally.

I’ve laughed will tears ran down my face at Not the Nine O’Clock News as a teenager – done the same a few months ago a Mickey Flanagan’s Back in the Game.

I don’t mind Mickey Flanagan – I’ve sent this clip to ex barrow boy colleagues in London when they take the pi55 out of the ‘turnip top from Hicksville’ that worked with them for a few years.

It’s symptomatic of the age we live in, which has spawned ball-less commissioning editors. Almost all of it is watered down asinine sh1te. Nothing edgy, challenging, satirical or just plan funny. I’m still waiting for a return to the halcyon days of The League of Gentleman, I’m Alan Partridge, Yes Minister, Black Adder, Red Dwarf and the like. What we have now is bilge like Citizen Khan and Mrs. Brown’s Boys. Even shows like Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You are shadows of their former selves … on that note has Paul Merton every said anything remotely amusing?
