    Mate,

I work at Southmead Station and can influence allocations. I’ll look up the Guardian number you quoted tomorrow and make sure somebody is assigned.

Have you registered it on Immobilize here – http://www.immobilise.com/

Also post the details here – http://www.stolenbristolbikes.com/

I’ll give you a call in the morning.

Houns – Agreed. I thought the dynamic between the three was excellent.

I also found Martin Brundle amusing, steaming over to anyone in sight on the grid to ask probing questions regarding sensitive issues.

    fontmoss,

What difference does it make that the speech was improvised (you are right, it was)? In fact that spontaneity by Hauer adds to the films greatness! This staggering scene and one that is more associated with BR than any other was not in the book.

I also understand that the critique wasn't aimed at Scott. Again what point are you making? I’m simply disagreeing (vehemently) with samurai for the reasons stated. The film wasn’t “wrong” it was inspired and adapted from the book. It wasn’t a literal translation and never pretended to be. The film was Scott and Co's vision and in that sense comparing the two lacks relevance.

    WHAAAAAT

Ridley Scott turned Dick's novel into the most influential SF film ever made.

Although different storylines they are both a complex rumination on the effects of dehumanisation. What film has produced the range of human emotions so vividly that BR has?

    Its story is fantastically layered beyond belief. Religious parallels are rampant. The moody motion score by Vangelis is superb. The amazing cinemaphotography and fantastic set and costume design are breathtaking and the script – Absolutely Sublime. Let me remind you Roy Batty’s beautiful soliloquy and cinema’s most touching piece of dialogue;

“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those … moments will be lost … in time. Like … tears … in rain. Time … to die”.

That still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and my nose fizz.

With all due respect but what with some of the utter balls written on this forum the OP could be the biggest tosh ever! Sorry, I appreciate it's a matter of opinion and all that.

    Rawhead Rex (1986).

Plot – Set in Ireland, a particularly nasty demon named Rawhead Rex is released from his underground prison by an unwitting farmer.

An unmitigated shit-house of a film so rubbish that it falls off the bottom of the chart to somehow re-emerge sublimely back at the top. Superb because it was such a dismal turkey, and unintentionally hilarious.

There are many good people that live on the Southmead estate (above and below Greystoke Avenue) mind, who maintain their properties and contribute to society. Unfortunately they will no doubt get lumped in with the sort of bigoted idiot featured in the Panorama report, which is a shame.

Just seen your investigative tip. Thanks, real expose that was – what you can trace people through the interweb with IP addresses – never! Perhaps you could explain the workings of the RIPA Act 2000 to me and how you apply for search warrants etc. Always one that knows your job better than you eh.

    There was no

    to-ing and fro-ing

on mine or the other officer’s part, thank you! We did our bit by getting onto Jungle and informing them of our concerns, which given the rather suspicious circumstances was the correct and proportionate response I think. It was left with them to determine whether the frames were those stolen from their previous burglary. I assume that they checked their records and made the relevant comparisons with the frames on Ebay before deciding on a course of action/inaction. I did ask for an update from them but as yet I’ve not received a reply.

Companies such as Jungle/Stiff have a policy of not getting caught up in Internet forum babble and given the lunacy that this thread has degenerated into who can blame them?

The comedy with this thread though has been hitherto unrivalled. Few threads/posts beat it.

    easygirl,

Thanks for your efforts. You will understand that I appreciate your position entirely (being in the job). I've felt that same frustration and have dealt with it in the exact way you have over the last fourteen years.

In the overwhelming majority of cases the police are powerless to act unless they receive the required level of support from the complainant and people that possess the requisite information, i.e. Ebay.

I won’t speculate any further but I will say this, if Jungle has declined to prosecute I can see no reason why that information can’t be put out onto this forum. Some very good points have been made on this thread (along with a small minority of less intelligent ones).

Sorry, I’ll leave it alone. Like you I put my head above the parapet and took it upon myself to try and resolve this.

In a second Email I asked Jungle to keep me abreast of how this pans out. I await a response.

All the best mate and cheers,

    Larry.

    easygirl,

Your post is confused. If you can't discuss here perhaps (if you have time) you could email me (address in profile).

Am I right in this – The crime is a North Yorks job as it occurred on their patch (Summerbridge) and therefore their responsibility to investigate, however they need co-operation from West Yorks as the possible offender might live across the border in their area (Leeds)?

    easygirl,

Has this new information been reported to the police by Jungle?

What efforts have been made with the locals. Do you know the reason for their disinterest?

I'm a DC in Avon and Somerset and reported this to Ian @ Jungle this morning.

I set an Email to Jungle last night highlighting our concerns that the frames are from the break to the warehouse back in August.

This morning I spoke with Ian at Siff/Jungle and he is going to take the matter up with his bosses who will presumably get on the blower soon to the local cops, but that's a matter for them on how they wish to proceed.

    Good spot to Ibis.

    Mate,

The operation sounds like it’s been very successful. I’m pleased.

What’s important now is (with Megs support) for you both to take full advantage of the rest period and attack the next phase with the same vigour, momentum and balls that you have thus far.

    Good.

    cxi,

Thanks, right that does it for me I'll be on to Jungle and West Yorks police in the morning. They need to ascertain the sellers address and spin his drum.

Please nobody contact the seller asking him questions about this frame. If it is stolen it may spook him and frustrate police efforts to make arrests and recover the property.

Are they aware of a batch that's been stolen?

Perhaps Email to Crimestoppers via http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/default.asp?sID=1190640794204

I'll do this if I have time at work tomorrow.

It's a good idea to send it to Crimestoppers. I have done this myself in the past when I've considered something suspicious. It affords the police force that covers the sellers address the opportunity to check their databases to see if they have a stolen report that could be matched to the frame/bike being advertised.

    Tony,

Has this been reported to BTP?

Parkway falls under 'D' district (Staple Hill Police Station). Do you want me to send the details to them for their info? It's more likely to be recovered by A&S than BTP, for example when conducting a search of some scrotes house for unrelated matters.

Has he put it on Immobilse?
