A police boss at work spoke about “correct asset placement for the night time economy”, which seemed to be a euphemistic phrase for positioning units in particular spots to police the drunken and riotous hordes that descend on the city centre of a Saturday evening.

Got a camera? Take some snaps of Brunel’s tremendous and iconic structure at night.

See if someone’s giving an interesting lecture/talk at St Georges.

Find a pub with some decent live music. The Old Duke, Louisiana.

I can get into the Overview and the Chat Forum, but not the Bike Forum.

Same here – what’s the score with this then? Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I’m still unable to access the Bike forum. Is it a problem with my browser or something?

EDIT – I can view it with Safari but not Firefox it seems.

My post commencing this thread was not very considered or well written – apologies. I’d engaged in some ‘drunk typing’ at 1 or 2 in the morning having returned from a meal at a mates house, during which FSoG was discussed. As we know, being drunk in-front of the keyboard on STW can lead to all sorts of carnage!

I’ve not read the book, so it’s ignorant of me to express an opinion without doing so, but everything I’ve heard thus far about the sells phenomenon that is the Fifty Shades trilogy, is enough to prevent me from investing any time or energy into it. It appears to be porn dressed up as romance, or romance dressed up as porn … whatever, it’s titillated a certain demographic, but the material is unlikely to do the same with me.

What I find interesting and clever/lucky, on behalf of the author and publishers is that the driver for the success of the books, is it being purchased by people that read infrequently or buy 2 or 3 books (digital or paper) a year, not those who regularly spend time reading and have a decent sized library/collection. As more 20 – 50 something year old females talk about it at work and learn of the controversy and hype that surrounds the series in the media, sells rise exponentially.

Now we all have to do, is brace ourselves for the inevitable movie that will come along. The mind boggles at who will be cast in that – I imagine it will resemble something like ‘Body of Evidence’ – remember that agonizingly incompetent entry in the ‘Basic Instinct’ genre?

how and where did you get your ‘sit bones’ measured?

It’s Spesh Body Geometry so here – http://www.specializedconceptstore.co.uk/

It’s not that scientific – basically a foam pad that you sit on and the indentations left by your bum bones are measured. The space between them determines the fit/width of the saddle etc.

Is the seat clamp on back to front?

    No :D

Edit – sorry scrap that, the collar slot should be lined up with the frame slot unless the frame or post is carbon.

The Hustler has a forward facing slot.

At some point people have to take responsibility for finding these things out.

Yeah, if you’ve got the gumption to do that – that doesn’t help the elderly, vulnerable groups or the less intellectually sophisticated amongst us in society. As I said, or rather the OFT stated, 1/2 million have been mislead.

Blu-ray has superior resolution and uses better video-compression, resulting in more contrast and richer colours. Definitely sharper & a marked picture quality improvement over DVD IMHO.

I can’t comment on audio advantages really as I’m a bit mutt & jeff.

The George Inn in Backwell does nice food but they wont have a screen for the footie.

The Plough Inn in Wrington is reasonably good plus they’re showing the Euro games I believe.
