It’s been a fantastic spectacle and illustrates to the world what this country can achieve.

    agentdagnamit,

Avon and Somerset have known for some time that riders have been followed – we’ve had offenders in interview tell us so! Sometimes it’s opportunistic, sometimes it’s not. On occasions they have been known to reconnoitre areas looking for cars on drives with roof racks – they employ various methods to locate bikes. Believe me the police have been alive to this for a while.

Bristol District has had quite a bit of success nicking bike thieves and charging them. Of course what happens then is down to the courts.

Have you stuck it on Bristol Stolen Bike Blog – http://www.stolenbristolbikes.com/

Register it as stolen on Immobolise – http://www.immobilise.com/

Set up searches on Gumtree and eBay. It’s likely that the forks and components will get spilt and sold separately.

On Monday I’ll chat to my mates on the PCT (burglary) squads to make them aware and I’ll make sure it gets circulated to district patrol officers. I take it you’ve reported it to the police?

This is half the problem – reuniting victims with their bikes.

Initially I thought I’d give the shooting a go but then I remembered a clay shoot on a stag do in Scotland a few years ago. It was pretty poor – I couldn’t hit a Death Star at 20ft.

Can we include the Winter Olympics? If so I’d be a middle gimp in a four-man bobsleigh team.

They both showed pure, naked, fierce, animalistic aggression of a sort that one doesn’t naturally associate with women – or girls for that matter.

Clearly this man has yet to walk through a British city centre or town of a weekend evening.

Are there any on here who will declare their occupation or lack of ??

    You’ve got some front!

Who are you? Previously banned or sock-puppet? Your name is deliberately provocative and suggestive of a previous forumite – one who I liked as it happens.

I see no Email address in your profile or posts other than this and a few other threads, having only joined a few days ago.

How did you get to know about this site?

    yossarian – you’re at it again :-)

All this thread has achieved is to show quite how meek, law abiding, conservative, intolerant and afraid of confrontation middle aged mountain bikers with access to a computer during work hours are. Is anyone really that surpised?

Do you see the incongruity of your posts? You do the very thing that you castigate others for doing – making ‘tired old cliches’ (thanks rudebwoy) about the character and circumstances of people that disagree with you.

It’s just dawned on me that this will impinge massively on my enjoyment of a nice bacon, egg and sausage sandwich at Brunels Buttery.

Are more buses really needed in Bristol – this strikes me as a lack of imagination.

    The

    ‘offended of chichester’

    – What?

So, those that take issue with CM’s antics are small minded little Englanders from the well healed provinces – slightly patronising.

Would you take peoples ‘critique’s’ more seriously if they were modish zeitgarians from upper west Shoreditch?

There’s a number of HJ’s that crop up for sale on here – some of which will be older models.

It’s a proven, verifiable and accepted empirical FACT that they are the best HT’s out there.

The police don’t take a one size fits all approach to these sort of reports. They make an assessment of what’s been written, and the context in which it’s written (along with other variables). I would say that what has been alleged is grossly offensive and could almost amount to a threat to kill, which is a separate offence under The Offences Against the Persons Act. In reality the threat probably falls short of engaging that statute, but it’s definitely a malicious communication.

Turning our attention to ‘arrestable’ – The term ‘arrestable offence’ is no longer used due to amendments made under the Serious Organised Crime & Police Act, which has standardised powers of arrest. Essentially you can be nicked for anything, whether it’s a summary or indictable offence, as long as it passes a necessity test.

Did the police have ‘reasonable suspicion’ that a breach of the peace was indeed going to take place?

In fact as a point of accuracy the power of arrest for Breach of the Peace is ‘reasonably believes’, which is a HIGHER test than mere suspicion.

On this occasion the CM counter culture were playing at being agent provocateur’s (without a great deal of sophistication) – and it backfired. Simple as that.

Also remember who who abolished the slave trade, that was a nasty narrow minded religious man who ‘Found
    God’!

You’ve not read the Bible have you?

Read Leviticus 25:44-46 where there’s an assumption that you will buy and keep slaves – who should serve their Christian masters especially well (Ephesians 6:5)! Exodus 21 does put in certain safeguards for them though, regarding the severity of beatings , which should not injure their eyes or teeth!

G4S at the Olympics has inadvertently summed up the culture of take-it-as-read privatisation in this country.

As long as you make the right political donations, then you can get away with charging absurd fees for the lowest common denominator of service. Then you trouser the millions in bonuses. Result! It’s now Clear that even that piss poor level of ‘deliverables’ is frankly too much trouble. So why bother? We’ll get paid anyway.

I know! Let’s hand over the NHS and the education system over to the same people, while dressing it up as ‘necessary austerity’.

They’re selling us all down the ****ing river, so that when they’re voted out, they can pop up on the boards of the companies with these new privatised contracts. A million dabs a year for one day a month as a non exec director? Don’t mind if I do!

Couldn’t have put it better myself +1
