    Jamie,

    Are you with Admiral?

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2235261/Car-insurers-Admiral-penalising-drivers-speed-awareness-courses-instead-taking-points-licence.html

Unless the insurers ask specifically, I wouldn’t introduce it into the conversation. It’s not a conviction – it’s education, as an alternative to prosecution. Once you have successfully completed the course, no further action will be taken and you will have no record of this on your licence.

EDIT – PS. You’ve brought shame on yourself, your family and the forum.

He’s been released on appeal with a suspended sentence then. Seems sensible in the circumstances.

What is it with Cove’s that makes people have more than one.

What can I say – I love Coves, bit of a fanboi.

If you’re 5’11” you ought to really think about the next size up. Coves come up quite short in the top tube.

My Hustler just feels spot on in terms of geometry. The suspension feels reasonably plush and carefree – you don’t really notice it, which I think is a good thing – it goes about its business without too much fuss. Great on the climbs – hunkers down but doesn’t sit/ squat sluggishly in its travel.

    Very capable bike.

I wish you and your partner the best possible outcome.

Be strong – I’m sure many of us will reflect on your closing sentence.

Mesh – electro industrial/synth pop band from Bristol.

They’re still about – never going to be massive but still should be bigger … certainly more lauded than they are. Bigger in Europe than the UK I think.

Just acquired Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt.

Purchased after I’d overheard someone discussing Levitt’s theory on how the decision in Roe vs. Wade (US – legalised abortion) effected the crime rate.

In all seriousness – I know quite a few off here and ride with two – three regularly. All top people.

I’ve only ever brought my association with this forum up once with a rider on the trails that I’d just met and he looked at me as though I was something that had just fallen off the bottom of his shoe – so I’ve not been inclined to mention it since!

There’s a few on STW who I think would be a good laugh to hook up with.

    Ace. Thanks.

That must have been shot last night. I saw the marked police car parked up on the Portway in company with the two people wearing fluorescent tabards (not police).

    Bregante,

Probably worth making the point as well that eBay themselves have come on too, in terms of providing information in a time frame that empowers us to do something. Their processes going back 18 months to 2 years ago when I was acting on a Priority Crime Team was not the fastest turnaround TBH – far from it. Often victims would see it as police failings – when quite frankly it wasn’t.

kimbers – I know this, of course I do. More so than any of you lot! I’ve been doing it since I was 16 and have been an officer for 17 years. The truth remains that despite the undoubted failures, the successes outweigh the negatives.

I try not to get drawn into these threads – I’m off to play XCOM Enemy Unknown, which any gamer with any self respect should steam into.

The police deal with people in a state of very poor health on a daily basis. Since 1990 – I’m surprised the number isn’t higher than that TBH.

We know that people die … sometimes this happens when they have had contact with police … or A&E … or the Brigade or …

When I see threads of this sort – I can predict with unerring accuracy the regulars that turn up providing links to police inaction or failure – never the successes. The mind boggles (not really) at why they should rock up with mind numbing regularity – almost as though they have an axe to grind – hey ho.

Not the OP who I know to be a good bloke.

I don’t know whether they actually do a sandwich called a Myocardial Infarction, but they should do, it sounds ace if you say it with a Bristol accent.

LOL at this – I found myself putting on a Wester / Bed-me accent trying to pronounce it!

    Yes.

As a visual spectacle it’s very good and there’s entertainment to be had for certain, but the truth remains that narratively it’s a flawed mess.
