Any views on the Dartmoor Primal 29?

    http://slam69.co.uk/dartmoor-primal-29-29×22-2014-7452-p.asp

Amazing price, but interested to hear how you think the geometry compares with the Parkwood, Honzo etc.

    OK, thanks.
Fat Albert Snakeskin on the On-One web site look a good buy, but they only have the fronts. 🙁
I’ve had problems getting High Rollers to seat on my rims (Bontrager TLR rims).

    Any other suggestions?

Pawsy_Bear, no email in your profile, I’d love a GPX file though. My e-mail is jimpalmer10 at gmail.com

Actually stying in ‘Monnington on Wye’, slightly to the East, so probably a short car journey.

Welshfarmer, 4 – 5 hours. Looking for some big views and fun descents, but nothing really gnarly. And a good lunch stop. 🙂

    Thanks all.

Hi, is that snapped post solid, or a hollow tube? My old single-drop was hollow most of the way up, but I have just replaced it with a multi-drop which is solid most of the way up.
I guess the solid version is not liable to the same issue? Or would I be still recommended to turn it around?

    Thanks, any particular company?

They are for a tandem, so two new stems. I don’t really ‘need’ new bars, they would be nice to have, but even harder to justify if I am to buy new stems as well.
    🙂

The Remedy, how are you getting on with the Angleset in your ’09 Remedy?
Which version Angleset did you get?

    Thanks……

Hi, I just bought a pair, for the road with SPDs like you.
Only worn once. They seem fine, nice and warm, but an odd shape, very long and narrow. I am size 48, but had to go for XXL for the width. They do look a bit comical, but I don’t care.

Go for it, for the money I don’t think you’ll do better.

In fact it was better than fine, near perfect I’d say.

I was the guy mincing about on a silver Remedy.

What a great day, but that climb get’s a bit wearing after about 10 runs!

Hmmmmm, I’m a wimp though, I only enjoy it when it’s grippy.

    Anyone been up there today?

    …..Thanks.

    Thanks, Carew Arms looks great.

Anywhere round the northern side within easier reach (we will be coming down the M5 from the Midlands)?

It looks quite a long loop round to Crowcombe for example.

    Thanks again.

Are these trails all very technical?
I’m planning a first trip in a couple of months with some relatively inexperienced mates. I don’t want to scare them with too many roots & rocks.
Can anyone pick a couple of combes with nice twisty flowing tracks, and nothing to technical?

    Thanks.

Stilltortoise, thanks. I’ve got the Vertebrate guide, I’ll look that one up.

Flyingmonkey, that sounds good as well, if you could dig the route out that would be great.

Thanks to all for your support & ideas!

Sounds great, thanks BWD, I didn’t know Chapel Gate was re-surfaced, not been there for a while.

    Any other suggestions?

Are there any similar good routes heading South into the White Peak?

    Thanks.

Folks, an update. As suggested above, I contacted GD in the US. They have repaired it free of charge, complete with 4 little screws, it arrived back today.

That’s what I call good service!

Thanks all, it sounds like there is a good chance it is fixable. I’ll try some JB Weld and hose clamps.

    Cheers.

The food is definitely a highlight!

I wouldn’t worry about that forecast, any moisture dries out within a few hours.

Hi Dave, my two sons & I will be there, our second trip. I’m on a Remedy, younger son (17) on an old Patriot, older son (20) on the TrailAddiction SX Trail. We’re in the Goat Shed also.

Is the weather forecast not good then?

    See you there!

PS. IMHO, no need to worry about braking bumps, it isn’t that kind of riding.

    Cheers……..Jim.

    Wharfedale, Thanks for the offer.

Danny, yes, that is the part I've lost. What model Orbit was yours?
Mine was an Orbit Xtreme Pro, but hopefully they are interchangeable?

Thanks, no pics I can link to I'm afraid.

Its Black, with orange Dekerf logos. But I suspect it went straight in the back of a van, and is probably miles away by now.

They must have had a big set of croppers, it was a pretty chunky lock.

Hmmm. Interesting. No plans for a larger version by the sound of it. I guess I need to try one, do you know of a Demo bike anywhere in the Midlands?

'Bike to Work' cash is burning a hole in my pocket….

    Got to ask…..

Why were you so keen to get them out?

Why not just carry on using them as they were?
