Thanks for all the suggestions…….in the end I went for these:
Hex keys at Uk tool centre.
Seemed to get great reviews and good enough for non-intense use. Cheers

    What a great post!
Wheat beer much more potent than real ale
Garlic instead of onions (although pickled anything rules)
    Chorizo in epic quantities
Eggs, hard boiled, half a dozen should be enough
and a spare pair of underpants in case of follow through
Good luck and we look forward to hearing about the trip!

Well the gift of the tooth abscess keeps giving. Since my OP I had the offending tooth removed last week. A very unpleasant 20 minutes while it felt the dentist was trying to pull my lower jaw out. Eventually he drilled the tooth in half and pulled the two bits out separately. OK, a bit grim but it needed to come out as it had a fracture all the way through it and could never be mended.
Three days of nice healing and then pain and discomfort like before! Anyway have you ever heard of dry socket? Pain like you have an abcess because the bone and tooth are exposed. Cue more antibiotics and raid the painkillers!

I have a complete frame from the 4.5 x4.5m one. I managed to get the canopy caught in the lawnmower as I was drying it on the line. Doh. I am in Reading

I agree that for two to three nights take aboard is the way forward. A soft side roller and separate laptop bag. Something with 4 decent wheels as you may have to walk miles. Ideally one that you can piggyback your laptop bag onto or buy one of these. .
If you do check you bags in then photograph them before you check them in. This helps in two ways; firstly it helps you describe your black suitcase to the baggage agent after your long flight and secondly it shows the condition you checked it in in case of it arriving less than intact. In 20 years of frequent travel I have had three damaged suitcases (all replaced without issue), one bag delayed by 24 hrs and the same bag delayed 48hrs on both legs of the trip. The common issue on the delays is connection via Charles de Gaulle! Don’t connect and don’t connect via CDG with Air Chance. So named because there is a chance your bags will make it there there is a chance they wont!

I have been amazed by the way we wreck our bodies or they are wrecked by illness and infection but yet still manage some good humour. STWers I salute you, your inflections and ailments and wish you all speedy recovery. After 72hrs the double dose of antibiotics have kicked in and I am feeling a bit chirpier. I am grateful that I live in the first world, have access to and can afford a decent dentist, have antibiotics and pain control within reach…..it could have been so much worse in another country, time or situation! your posts have put it all in perspective!

I think this thread deserves an update. What have I learnt so far? Having a cupboard full of drugs the wife was given when she had a back operation is awesome (even though they might be technically out of date). Co-codamol is much better than paracetamol on its own, nurofen is rubbish when compared to naproxen! Take both with food and I actually managed some sleep. Lying flat in bed makes the tooth throb so I can feel it down my jaw into my neck…its much better to get some sleep propped up with pillows. Hoping that that the antibiotics kick in quick
The thread makes me thankful I had forgotten about all my other past injuries; snapped tendon in my arm, broken arm and ankylosing spondylitis I have had for 20 years. Malvern Rider I sympathise having been in a similar state of despair before being on biologics which put a smile back on my face. STWs we put up with a lot!

Thanks for all your replies, still feel like someone twisting a screw into my jaw in slow motion. However it should be relatively short lived so will try to MTFU! Assisted by meds of course.

Nice and stealthy! well done! How is the battery attached to the floor? If its anything like the leisure battery in our van I would want it well attached if I had to hit the brakes!

I used to live in Ealing in road of semi-detached and terraced housing. A guy who lived virtually opposite bought a brand new car every 2 years…expensive BMWs 5 series etc. But I only very rarely saw him drive it!, he had shopping delivered and could walk to the local shops. I must confess that one day I whilst working at home I saw him drive off. Of course I did the decent thing and moved my car to ensure that his space was saved. I then went out for a couple of hours. Childish I know.

Got my first adult dog at 41! With wife and two girls and the dog being female I am completely outnumbered. Had from a puppy and despite doing puppy classes she is only really 90% trained! Loves chasing rabbits and squirrels and this year has caught two rabbits. Will sit and drop on command and then follow me and leave the rabbit. Soft as anything, barks like a dog twice her size at the door bell but needs two 30-40 minutes walks a day!
    Enjoy!

So much energy is devoted on this forum to outrage when cyclists are hurt/killed by motorist, especially when distracted i.e. on the phone. I cant believe that some members are prepared to help j5kol become more distracted at the wheel. God forbid he should be in an accident and this be a contributory factor.
j5kol, please do not do it!
