I’d GUESS that the tiredness you describe is not that abnormal and you are probably just a bit worn out, why not take a full week off the cycling commute, get early nights and lay off alcohol completely. You might feel a bit better after that?

I use both, prescription sunglasses for days when I don’t need the contacts, then daily disposables for sport etc. They are great for cycling, especially when I’m downhilling and wearing goggles. I find when surfing that they can absorb a bit of the saltiness of the water and can get a bit sore after a while but that’s the only issue I have had.

Given the size of this issue and the size of CRC, I think that they would be smart to put a statement up on their website in the very least explaining that they are investigating it and will report back soon, and also stating what action they have taken in the meantime to ensure that new payments are safe. The best way to protect a brand is to be honest and communicate with your customers, not to pretend it hasn’t happened and hope it will all die down… I’m sure behind the scenes they are working on this 24 7, but it would be good for them to say that clearly to their customer base.

This has happened to me as well, fraudulent card use also immediately after using CRC for the first time in a while….

Thought I’d mention, saw a really nasty collision today between a snowboarder and a skier. I don’t know whose fault it was but both were knocked unconscious for at least a minute and both were wearing helmets. It made me think how much worse it would have been if they were not wearing helmets.

The ski school snakes do make me laugh, if you get behind one I advise sitting down in the middle of the piste just over a blind crest for a bit to get a clear run ;o)

But seriously yes they are very difficult to get past if you are unlucky enough to get behind one!

Yeah its an Inbred, steel frame. Perhaps a Nitromors strip would be best first off. Or maybe I should just leave with the Rat look!

Children are what they are and we were all children once. You have to make allowances for them. One of the very best things about skiing I think is the fact that its a proper sport that really young children can be good at, its wonderful watching my little lad learn to ski and absolutely love it.

+1 Guy – half term and the Christmas / New Year week! I think Saturday morning is the only time to go up! So quiet! 🙂

Having never done any winter sports before I have self taught myself to snowboard this winter in the French Alps. I have seen numerous accidents, been hit by skiers, seen all sorts of people on ski’s and boards have mishaps, not be in control, and be inconsiderate and considerate in equal measure.

There are all sorts of nobs as well as nice people having a nice time. More than any other sport there seem to be an element on the slope who have the attitiude that this is their annual week of skiing / snowboarding and no-one is going to get in their way / slow them down. I have also seen snowboarders stop to help skiers / kids who have fallen, and some skiers stopped to see if I was ok after a fall. My friend a good skier also got smacked into my a bloke on blades, so it all goes on.

So in summary, its nothing to do with boarders vs skiers, its just that some people are idiots and the perceived pressure of trying to pack as much as possible into your one week of sking that you have paid lots of money for creates a sense of entitlement in some people I think. The whole activity is generally a recipie for disaster if you look at rationaly, and some people just don’t take it carefully enough.

Why not ride on the smooth dirt on the RHS until the turn, then just release the brakes and whoop till you reach the bottom, looks like a straight line to me?!

On the subject of wrist guards, there are good ones and bad ones. Bad ones are worse than useless, good ones will work IMHO.

Find on old fridge and get the compressor out it? I have loads of fun with them when I was a kid but not sure how easy they are to get hold of now given all the recycling requirements etc.

Duxford good if you do want to travel south, I think the days with just the classic warbirds are great. No jets bursting your eardrums! Plus lots to see inside if the weather not so hot. 🙂

My opinion, and it is just that, is that the 160 would be the most versatile and reliable bike to own long term. I’ve owned a 5, Patriots, and SC Blur 4x, and after all that the one bike I now have is a custom Patiot 66 build with a 2010 RP23 from a 160 and pikes. Its great at everything, its perfectly manageble on XC rides and is fun on the down. If had your choice I’d go for the 160.

But you’ll have a blast with any of them! Good luck.

I disagree – its ugly but hey, its a landrover of a bike I reckon, will do a job so what the heck. Use what you have and get riding.

Buzz I think that would still work out a bit pricey, I have very few suitable bits kicking about having had a big clear out. What’s really annoying it that I built up a couple of great hartails in that way over the last year or two and sold them cos I thought I didn’t need them, now wishing I had kept one…

Well that’s kind of what I need – something knackering that is fun and doesn’t go very far in the process! If anyone has something going v cheap in the London area please let me know! :o)

I need this to keep me fit and not bored of a lonely evening…

    Hello All,

Interesting thread, I’ve recently moved with my family to the French Alps just south of Lac Leman, and have been thinking of heading over to the Saleve or the Jura for a bit of riding one weekend. Obviously its a bit snowy now but it would be great to hook up with some people for a bit or riding in the spring before the lifts open.

Also, does anyone know where some BMX tracks are in the area of Geneva / Thonon / Evian?

    Cheers!

+1 for the X-Trail, we recently bought a diesel 2006 with 70k on it, and its great, good in the snow. Just got winter tyres on it, Maxxis like my bikes!

Just my impression but UK riding seems to be much more about razzing about in woods where you can find them, mainly due to the lack of easily accessible epic type riding for most people. Hence the trend for more do it all tough and fun type bikes, that can handle mud. Makes us produce better riders IMHO, hence our big representation in the non-XC type riding categories?

I tried this, having ridden single pivots for some time. I missed the really lively feel you get from a single pivot. I found the glued to the ground feeling a bit boring, although no doubt it was very effective. So I am now back on single pivot, its most fun for me, I can set it up how I like it.

My advice is to demo a few other multi pivot bikes and see what you think. Its personal preference at the end of the day.
