    Part true, part myth:
My uncle works at Rolls Royce, testing jet turbines. They would run all sorts of tests, vibration, extreme weather, and bird strikes. Bird strikes were done by revving up the jets, and tossing chickens in the rotors (this is true).

After a few months he gets a call from an engineer at Boeing. He says “Listen, we have a problem with the bird strike tests, every time we toss in the chicken, the engine implodes. I don’t know how you guys are doing it”
My uncles response: “Guys, seriously, you have to defrost the chicken first!”

The bike racks prevent me from heading to the local machine wash, and the guy at work on Mondays charges £25! That said, its the execs in stupidly overpriced automobiles who line up for that. An yes, if you thinks it’s ok to park your 4-wheel drive Porsche with its personalized plate in the handicapped parking because its in the line to get washed, you are indeed a knob-head.

Bucket and sponge for me. Like at least once a season!

I begged my father for one when I was about that age. He took me down to the local, gave me a red swiss army knife. Said if I could open it and close it without cutting myself, I could have it.

That’s how I became the proud owner of a blood sodden shirt and a bandaged thumb. Waited another year before I got another chance. :D

Back in South Africa, while on leave from military (SADF), I overtook a large truck (legally mind), but missed seeing a roadside sign saying ROADBLOCK AHEAD. Came round the corner to see a policeman standing in the middle of the road with his hand up. Slammed on brakes, fishtailed a bit, stopped 5 foot from him. He’s pissed, yelling and gesticulating. He’s yelling at me through window, I’m pleading innocence, but this guy is really on edge. A few moments later, the Sergeant Major in charge comes along, takes one look at my uniform (I was a lieutenant), tells his colleague to calm the f*ck down, salutes me, and waves me on.

I grinned all the way home :)

There are wider implications, as battery tech improves (think F1 and Apple spending much $’s in battery R&D), ebikes make biking far more accessible for the masses. Less cars on road, more investment in proper bike lanes, and so on. This benefits all riders, e-bike or not. I think the commuter type bikes will see a far wider appeal than the MTB versions initially.

Historically, no doubt this same type of discussion was had about motor cars and computers.

I saw with interest a shop in Guildford dedicated to e-bikes: http://electricbikesguildford.com/%5B/url%5D

I think this has been said by a few, but when I’m back in nappies and getting spoon fed by pretty nurses, I’ll be buying one!

Hard to tell from the vid. Does it look like you are getting all the travel from the forks? As for compression, on a run like that, somewhere in the middle would probably do. I’d check your rebound rate first. If its cranked up, the fork can feel pretty springy. Beyond that – try changing you riding position?

For what its worth, I had a similar problem, tried bleeding and air pressure checks, it got worse. Eventually sent it in, out of warranty, and for a £40 service, they just sent a new one back.

This seems to be a default action on some of the original Reverbs.

When that tubeless tire finally pops on after 40 minutes of wrestling and pumping, and realize it the rear tire is now on the front rim with the rotation arrow pointing the wrong way.

Just picked up a 06 530d touring, getting 34mpg average to work and back, without really trying. @ Mikertriod 2 days after picking car up – bam – back in with a DPF filter warning :) 6 new glowplugs under warranty fortunately.

OP, for the sake of comparison: I payed just over 7k for mine, with 95k on the clock, fully loaded, with 1 year warranty.

My Transition Bandit (29er) had the stealth routing for the rear mech, so the cable went over the BB and into the chainstay tube. A chain drop caused the chain to get sucked in-between the frame and cable, damaging both. Moving froma 2×10 to a 1×10 solved the problem. Looking at the pic, it seems they have done away with that design.

Lovely looking bike! Still sticking with my Bandit though :)

I think there is something to be said for ‘earning your ride’. When it comes to appreciating the new tech, you need to have sweated it out old school – earning your stripes on an old faithful 3×11 HT with 90mm travel on a fork that never got serviced, squeaky breaks and a seized up seatpost, it makes those plush and lush FS bikes all the more worthwhile.

Car radio (or ICE if you must) in wife’s Renault. Get in, start the car, and a few seconds later, blast cheesy pop music (the kids) at full volume. And why cant the radio just turn off when I turn the car off? Why do I have to open the door first?

We have a house rabbit, gets on pretty well with the dog too. Do make great pets, mind your cables, mine has an affinity to telephone wires, patched three times now *sigh*. Does get frisky with balloons (you know that ends well) and balls. But given he (the rabbit) and I are the only males in in the house, we are good!
