I got one when I realised there was more than one person in the house needing to ride indoors.
Made life easier with permanent set ip.
Not the most reactive but a good solution

Cheers everyone and gnusmas. Its good to be given perspective and an understanding on how to cope.
Also have to learn to look after myself as well as others as about as useful as a chocolate teapot otherwise.
Hopefully some holiday time this week will help!

Thanks Ernielynch. You have hit the nail on the head. I have been feeling isolated and lonely even though seeing lots of people but not catching up with mates.
Also feel like I am always putting up a positive front to everyone to keep things going!!
    It is good to talk!

Thanks. Really exciting and potential to be increased in size. All funding has come from a charity foundation which makes it easier to run!

Thanks again everyone. Generally in a better state of mind already with thanks to everyone on here as part of the process!
Drinking more water and making more time.
Have also dropped managing a trail therapy project I got the funding for. I was meant to be delivering the project on the ground but another opportunity stopped this and ultimately wasn’t the same but helped get funding for 2 years to support the project. We are looking for new participants in the autumn based in Plymouth.
    Thanks again everyone.

Cheers TJ. I am saving the help for later when I know I will really need it. Love the tree story and being a typical man try to be the oak when in fact I know I need to be more flexible and open. Unbelievably having these discussions on here really helps.
Bread cut down has begun with breakfast change!!

Cheers everyone and a positive Monday.
Going along the lines of not eating after 8pm in the evening with less snacking.
Managed to get out for a ride whilst twins played netball and back to watch end of ones match and the second match and test out a new to me bike I have been meaning to do for ages!
Big thing I am going to do is try and drop some bread out of the diet and concentrate on less snacking.
Also positive that better half has had second round of new treatment and she seems OK!

Gunusmas I have read your story and deserve so much respect. Hearing you have been through it and coped helps. I totally relate to the feeling of failing all the time. Even with the new project I feel like I have imposter syndrome and wonder how I have managed to be even speaking to people about the project. By being outwardly positive people never question how you are. Hopefully by even talking about the eating will help and looking at the kids does help.
I am based in the South West and fortunately have some good friends and am active in the MTB scene but try not to burden people too much and also know how much support we will need in the future so not being too needy.
Thanks everyone! A new week to make the most of!

Even actually admitting and writing it down helps.
Moredashthancash I understand your pain and as a reasonably logical human being it really pisses me off that I can’t deal with it. On top of not being able to fix the wife it really hurts!!
funkmasterp just need to find another coping strategy but maybe not beer!!

Eldest daughter is in Babcock for the second summer but sorted it out months ago even for the second time.
Worth looking at the bigger companies and looking at summer graduation places. Even making contact will be good fro future prospects.
Not a lot of use for this summer though sorry

I am going through a similar thing with my wife. She was told she had cancer summer 2020 and put on palliative treatment 18 months ago and keeps fighting. 50 sessions of chemo, a hip replacement, 2 Christmas’s and some real ups and downs but you need to make sure you talk to friends STW or anyone. You physical and mental health is paramount to you supporting everyone in your life. Try and focus on the now instead of when the worst could happen. Try and be positive and even go for a short ride or walk or even a pint with friends. It shouldn’t also be the only point of conversation. Talk about other crap. Its very easy to write this but now just have to follow my own advice!! Good luck on your journey.

Would hope to be working with some of the private trail centres to utilise facilities.
If we get the right health care professionals, target groups and equipment it could be really special!

DickBarton. That is the aim. Try a few small groups first moving on to multiple groups. The main person at the project is very flexible with my situation and wants the best for everyone.

I had one custom designed and made for my wife to replace wedding ring. Used a jewellery maker through a friend of hers in Bristol and between us custom designed and made. Cost will depend on stones etc. We decided on three stones to represent three daughters using ethically sourced stones.

Thanks for all the offers but down in Plymouth. Hopefully after a family Xmas which involves isolating before will be able to get out.

It is the shock of cancer that is worst. We went from having a great time in lockdown and looking forward to so many adventures to a true nightmare. We are all just going through in disbelief but Christmas has been a real focus and we just need to find other ones. The twins racing next year will help with a new camper van I am converting, if I get my arse in gear!! That means some road trips and more importantly somewhere comfortable and warm for the better half to rest on days out.

Cheers everyone and just what I needed. Just to be able to speak online helps and hearing other journeys.
There are jus so many things that go round in my head that whilst being string for the family I can’t share.
In turns of specifics she has breast cancer with secondary widespread bone cancer. One thing I will say is please get lumps, bumps and anything different checked. Everyone including doctors, paramedics etc all thought it was a strain. Push to get double checked however scary.
    Thanks everyone!

Would consider Worcester as they are future proof and are easily switched to Hydrogen by changing a part.
Will fit these in any properties now for that reason.
Up until this always fitted Ideal. Great service and back up

Been doing loads of Zwift and riding with kids which is good for us all. Am going to try Mac Millan eventually but not 100% sure. Mates who I ride with live in different tier. Also avoiding too many people as older parents coming for Xmas!!

After following this post got some RR shares.
Also used some funds on some other airlines, BP and safe BT.
Have cashed in half of shares when topped out and will look to invest again if price drops.
Never done this before but seems quite addictive.
    Any other tips?
Looking at long term investments in anything to do with travel and planes.
Apparently RR are close to do doing a deal on building nuclear power stations.

Thank you so much everyone. It is so good to hear stories and receive support.
We are being really positive as a family and she is now coming home today which is great for her and the family.
They have got pain meds sorted so hopefully with chemo we will have some good time ahead, even years.
Love to hear about things like the ginger and carrot to help.
Here is the link to the eldest daughters fund raising page.
Any money is gratefully receivers but not expected and any company over the ride would be appreciated.
The STW and cycling family as a whole are awesome

Funkydoc. I did wonder about the benefit of chemo but the doctors are keen to start straight away and talk of time. The chemo is being used to control the bone cancer rather than get rid of it and we are insistent on making memories for the girls who all ride/race bikes.
I have been out a couple of times when I cant sleep but turn into a blubbering wreck as I have always used my time on a bike to think.
My eldest daughter has been unbelievable. she has been a rock for her younger twin sisters and so brave. If anyone is in South Wales on the 10th October it would be great to get as many people joining her for a lap of her of road course.
    Cheers everyone
