I have no Yeti experience, but if you google skoda yeti bike upright you get a bunch of pictures, so I guess it can be done, judging from th pics there’s plenty of height, not so much length though.

Curious if anybody here is driving an mk4 Jazz and is able to fit a bike upright.

I second the Honda Jazz, I have a 2010 MK2 and I can comfortably fit (rear seats folded) an Orbea Rallon, size M, rear wheel first front wheel off and secure it upright with 2 straps on each handgrip hooked to the boot hooks and 1 bungee over the top tube, no need for extra stuff.

Been doing this for years and never a single issue, including multiple 2000 km roundtrips.

I’ve also occasionally carried 2 bikes upright, the Orbea and a custom hardtail which is a bit longer, and while not particularly easy

This is with the a mk2 Jazz, the mk3 inside space is basically the same, unfortunately the current mk4 has less interior space due to the batteries, so this should be confirmed with a practical test or by taking measurements and comparing the 2.

You might not like the tune and nobody can argue with that, but knocking to me is definetely a shock issue, no knocking on mine.

I’ve had it on a rs super deluxe air for 2 years and it’s been way better than anything stock I’ve tried before, so good that I had to have their fractive tune plus luftkappe on the forks as well (fox 36), and after that on my second bike forks as well (34s), *luckily* a hardtail.

I got a 4iiii because it was on sale and quite a bit cheaper than the stages, but clearance was less than 1mm, so I ended up using a spacer.

Hi Neil superstar, I emailed you, btw in order of preference it would be the sentinel 29er wheelsets (#5 or #1) or the 29er TR21 ( #81 etc.).

    @ gordon

I guess this would help? https://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/switch-ultralite-front-hub-pin-tool.htm

    Thanks for that.

From what I get you should have removed the threaded retainer ring first:

“OLD PUSHFIT TYPE – Remove adaptor, the bearing bore is smooth

NEW THREADED TYPE – Remove adaptor, the bearing bore is threaded. 15mm adaptor has threaded retainer ring, QR is pushfit but is different to allow for threads.”

Cheers bloddsexmagik, the meantime I got a good deal on the M10 with factory forks and took the plunge.

I had seen the PB article but also read some negative user feedback about the grip as well, probably due to improper set up, who knows, in the end I just felt getting the factory fork was going to be easier than upgrading later,

    Cheers all.

stevie750 what model year is your Fabia and what’s the bike if you don’t mind me asking.

Anybody riding the Fox 36 Float Performace 160 3-Position fork on the M10 (grip damper)? How do you like it?

General consensus is the HSC LSC damper is very good, but haven’t found much on the grip damper.

Besides the extra cost in certain situations I’d rather have the 3 position adjustability to quickly lock the fork.

    Thanks all for the input.

GKW my gut feeling (and looking at the suspension design) tells me the AM9 is more pedal friendly than the Smuggler, I also like the lower standover better, but less the 4 mm taller seat tube.

The Aeris is also quite a bit longer than the Rallon, 773 mm vs 753 fc, longer chainstays, so probably the latter is better suited to most of my riding than the former.

    Argh analysis paralysis

Anybody in here who’s ridden both the Rallon and the Smuggler or the Aeris AM9?

I’m almost sold on the Rallon, but I can’t demo one before the end of April.

Yeah I demoed the Fuel EX too. For me the Rallon is faster both up and down the hill!

i actually don’t know the stem length, I thought 40mm maybe – it’s just the stock one.

Hi GKW, could you please elaborate on how you found the Rallon faster climbing than the Fuel? That’s a pretty bold statement! cheers

    Cheers all.

I am going from XD to 11 speed Shimano MTB freewheel, the endcap comes with the new freewheel.

@Bolt, already ordered the new freewheel, I’ll keep the XD in case I change bike.

Hi all, not sure if SXC-2 and SX-2 are the same either, mine came stock on a Giant TCX SLR.

I first inflated the tyre (1.75 wire bead smart sam) with the tube, but it would not loudly pop into place\seat like it happens with my other wheels, either stans or dt swiss. Don’t know if this means something or it’s normal with this rim.

I used a layer of gorilla tape, didn’t have the proper stans tape in house, but no luck.

I’ll try again leaving the tubes in for longer and using more tape.

    Cheers

Schwalbe Smart Sam wire bead set up tubeless well and come in a variety of sizes: inexpensive, durable, roll reasonably well on pavement and offer surprising amounts of tracion on dirt.

Hi everybody, I did not mean fitting the bike sideways with the magic setas up, I know there’s not enough room for that with just the front wheel off, what I meant is carrying the bike like it’s shown here[/url] ,from this old post.

The car should be an eight gen Civic even though it’s not clear what kind of bikes are those.

I was assuming that I could have fit my cube stereo 29er 140 with the front wheel off, seat down, and back wheel between the front seats, to gain some length.

    Cheers

My guess is you’re coming from lightweight bikes? ….so depends where you’re starting from I guess.

    +1!

I’d like to hear about the Jeffsy from someone coming from a 29er in the same class… stereo, spectral, stumpy, remedy, trailfox etc.

My jobsworth chaintool broke the second time I used it.

The chaintool on my 15 years old Topeak multitool is still going strong after countless uses.

talking frame only, is a headset with a straight steerer crown race available for purchase? Or could I use the crown race from the smoothie mixer?

Any way to use this frame with a Rohloff via a Monkeybone pm rear brake adapter?

Successfully Rohloffed my previous scandal and current Lurcher frames, and ridden them over the Alps, it would be a shame not to do same with the Parkwood for my next trip.

PS another set of bottle cage bosses would be great to use a tool tube\container.

dantsw13, could you make some examples? What I like about that light is the mounting bracket, it looks pretty stable, so far with the lights I have used, the phoenix and the gemini clone from DX, that has been the main limiting factor in off road use.

Basil, would you be at peace with yourself if I replaced the words “Planet x On One” in the title with “dealextreme” or “chinese”?

No, I’m looking for feedback on those bike lights.

Another vote for Norvegian Brynje, the “fishnet” kind.

Anyhting would get wet though, especially under gore tex, I would try lighter weight merino like on one thin stuff, or a more breathable outer layer, like event.

search for the ghetto tubeless inflator thread, I found it to seat tubeless tires faster than a compressor, easier to carry around too!

Assuming you are refferring to the Alu air 9 and not the air carbon I would choose the Lurcher because I own one and having ridden on a Scandal for the past 3 years and also tried alu bikes from Niner (one9 same as air9 but ss, and emd) I much prefer carbon. The Lurcher is an excellent frame but if you don’t need the SS option you could also look at the complete “discount” carbon 29ers from Rose, Cube, or the alu from Radon, Canyon etc (these 2 will offer carbon 29er HTs next year)

    dblspeed

Yes they are pretty bad, they are alloy nipples (if I rebuild I’ll go brass) and many are visibly about to crack open, the rest are corroded and cannot be tensioned properly.

Replacing them individually is out of the question because this is a tubeless setup with adhesive tape.

I was thinking that since the rims are old they could rebuild out of wack or the wheels thing could not last long.

    Cheers

Do the rings come in 3/32 btw?

PS nice UNO ring, wonder if they will make a version for the sram x9/x0

I meant work as in equally effective but I caught your drift 😉

Since we are at it, I currently run a 34×18, should I get the 34 or the 33t elliptical ring?

I gave a review of the Shimano AM41 shoe, comparing it to the AM40 and MP90, both from Shimano, complaining about the lack of the removable insole compared to those 2 other models, which was also adjustable in stiffness. That’s it, no comparison with the competition, no swearing, profanity etc. I can see the same shoes have received a 2 star rating, but largely outnumbered by the 5 stars….

edit IMO giving a high rating then writing everything in the narrative is not as effective, as most people look at the average, read all the negative reviews and only some of the positive ones?

bummer here as well as I spent time writing that review.
