I lost a similar argument ijt he county court and paid up, no CCJ.
If he actually makes good on the threat then using the reply to his summons you can sue for your losses due to his crap work. Then he has borne the cost of the claim (unless you lose of course, then you will have to pay his costs).

PS to all you rationalists and pro science types. You should consider making a donation to the Good Thinking Society who are forcing judical review of local Clinical Commisioning Groups who spend NHS money on homeopathy and other woo.
I feel strongly about this, if you do too, for the price of a round in the pub you can make a difference. (or less if you wish)

A distinction between frogs and toads is not made in scientific taxonomy, but is common in popular culture (folk taxonomy), in which toads are associated with drier skin and more terrestrial habitats than animals commonly called frogs.[1] In scientific taxonomy, toads are found in the families Bufonidae, Bombinatoridae, Discoglossidae, Pelobatidae, Rhinophrynidae, Scaphiopodidae, and Microhylidae.[2] There is no definitive collective noun for toads, and like most collective nouns, the listed proposals are fanciful; one example is a knot of toads;[3] others include a lump, nest, or knob of toads.[4]

It means “easy to remember so I can sing along to it and the lyrics create images and feelings in my head that I don’t have to rationalise”
    I like it.
Thats how I feel about pretty much all songs I like..

Sorry that wasn’t aimed at anyone – the paracetamol thread pops ups every sniffles season. What it highlights is that people don’t need to know why or how the system works for it to work. So thats why I’m interested in other behaviour influencing actions or designs that don’t need to educate people to succeed. I also think people changing their minds about something is an action people don’t get enough credit for.

My apologies, being self centred/paranoid and thinking that it was aimed me. You make a good point.

Reflecting on the paracetamol thread and he epiphanies had as to why silly old harmless paracetamol has restrictions on purchase. It turns out it was because of reasons and evidence and all that shit.

This is a bit mean. I reversed my opinion that the law was moronic because I had assumed that if you were suicidal and wanted 60 pills you would find a way to get them. But it turns out that things are bit more sublte than that, and that someone on the edge would only need easy access to loads of pills to tip them over. A little knowledge goes a long way and I was happy to read that knowledge and publicly accept that my opinion was wrong. I think that is normal and healthy. There is no need to be so snidey about it. It is no wonder that people become so entrenched when faced with riducle for being open minded.

Having seen the data in that report I am happy to retract my “moronic” statement. If my minor inconvenience really does save lives then I am happy to have to go around three times to get a decent amount of drugs.

It is suprising that what seems like such a small thing has had such a big difference.

My assumption was that if you wanted to do yourself in then you would just go to the effort of doing what I do, or visiting a few different retailers.

But I can see that it might be a sudden mental process and if the large amounts are there then its easy to make the wrong decision, but if you have to consciously consider getting a large amount then you might get a reality check.

    Neck wound in..

I buy 6 packs of ibuprofen and 6 packs of nurofen at once, by putting 3 spearators between them and paying for them separatly. Moronic restriction.

Given what the “experts” achieve , and some of what they justify/ignire , its not hard to see why we question the “wisdom”.

Or it is a lot harder to achieve what we want than a simple analysis can reveal and the experts are doing their damndest, but the man in the streets simplistic observations with no knowledge of the problem/process do not help.

    exactly.
This is the problem when the man in the street thinks he has an opinion on how to run the country..

The fuel price escalator is a brillaint example of using tax to change peoples habits for the sake of the envrionment.
Unfortunatly all it did was prove that we are all prepared to spend a shiot load of money to keep driving and is probably responsible for the whole energy industry charging us lots more than they oughtto, as they realised that we would rather drive and have the central heating on than eat reasonably well or clothe the kids.

Life is non linear, increasing (or decreasing) taxes on the oil industry might not have the simplistic effect on the market that the OP expects.

No my BS detector went off on the OP innocently hand on heart stating- “Oh my heart rate is very low is that OK?”
Which is code for ” my heart rate is very low, I know how awesome that is and I need to show off about it without looking like I am deliberately showing off about it”

I have had three of these. On the husbands advice (it was his car) we ignored. Have heard nothing. Contract law states that they can only sue for their losses, ie a couple of quid. If they ask me for a couple of quid they can have it, but they didn’t..

i would get a 2nd hand older nikon D90 and a decent 35mm or 50mm fast nikon lens. Make her concetrate on people and things. When she gets that, get some longer prime lenses or a zoom.

I have a 50mm 1.4 lens like this and it really is fantastic.

Funny this thread, I’ve just come back from the loo’s after having a chat with one of my mates and feeling like doing exactly the same thing. In fact I thought “I’ll go on STW and start a thread on it and see if I can get you guys to talk me out of it.” COINCIDENCE!!

    Reasons to quit:
    – My lovely boss has been moved sideways and we have a the current non specialist proj manager type taking over the running of the show. Unsure how I am going to get on with him as a boss as so far as a colleague he has royally peeved me.
    – I’ve been acting in a role for the last 7 months that, despite not wanting a pay rise, I have just asked for the paper recognition-ie a change in title, and have been turned down.
    – They are vacillating as to whether to contract out my role anyway and are just using me to prepare the ground for the external agency to do my job. If I quit now they will find things difficult. Feels kinda evil but its somehow attractive.
    – I have plenty of freelance work to be going on with.
    – I have 3 potential (but not certain) irons in the fire

    Reasons to stay
    – I’m very well paid
    – I love my colleagues, they are great fun to work with.
