I’ll bet its howdens, we have one of their kitchens and it fell apart, terrible quality.
Our chippy really pushed for howdens even though we wanted ikea, he claimed it was much better quality. I have been dissapointed from day one. My skeptical husband believes that the chippy wanted Howdens so that he did not have to bother assembling the carcasses.
After a few rows with Howdens and the chippy, husband fitted solid doors made by a local carpentry firm and never looked back. Chippy has been ditched.

Yeah I guess for once in a blue moon usage..
I think it is only the rugby internationals he is interested in, is there 3 or 4 england games ? Then not again until this time next year.

Well he also has a Z-Box nano, with linux but if I can persuade him to install W7 as the linux is annoying me. I find windows easier to navigate to put the kids movies on. He has a legit copy of W7 which he was going to put on my W8 laptop, but I’ve got used to W8 now. So I reckon seeing as it’s a mini PC already connected by hdmi to the telly it may well be the way forward.
You are all lovely helpful gentlemen thanks.

But you did watch through skygo?
I think you are saying that I can just buy a pass and watch on the laptop, (which has HDMI).

Oh thanks Jamie, so do you watch through skygo?
pk13, he has been doing this but it can be hit and miss as the friends often use up all their allowance.
Happy to pay 6.99 for the day to be sure he gets what he wants.

OOOh I have not seen that Jamie, cheers.
As far as alternative boxes go, I don’t think you can buy a day pass to sky sports without either a nowtv box or a skydish. Is there another legal way to get sky sports?

Well I have no idea what the OP’s domestic arrangements are but we are lucky enough that I was able to be with the kids and not have to go to work. So I could sleep when they sleep, I can empathise with anyone where both parents have to stick to a working time. In all situations, needs must.

Wilko, fair enough, we just did it our way. I wanted to share that.

What like yours? I just posted my thoughts, I can’t see how I have blamed you or instructed you in how to live your life in any way.

My experience as a mother is that everybody has an opinion that they like to foist upon you on what you are doing wrong, when in fact I have been happy with my choices from the beginning and my kids are well. Hence my point about not feeling the need to conform, because almost everybody told me to leave the kids to cry, do the hoovering while they wail and generally go agaisnt my own instinct. I did not conform and so far nobody is dead. I’m not suggesting you do the same, I’m suggesting you have the strength to choose whatever you want to do, it seems as though you have, so good news.

molgrips, I’m not trying to insult you, bring up your kids how you like. I have thought it through and I don’t feel the need to conform to others ideals of how and when my kids should sleep. Thats my point, if you are happy with your choices then thats great.

Seeing as this is stwdadsnet, I guess I should give a mum’s perspective. I would agree with the mother. I still co-sleep with my girls 4 and 7, their Dad has his own room, everyone is happy. My kids are smart, happy, independant and well adjusted. The older one chooses to sleep in her own bed often these days and sometimes sneaks in to sleep with her Dad. It’s only in the western world that we feel the need to suppress instinct and natural behaviour to conform to the work ethic and so called civilised ideals.

Me too. I come from a military family
sorry, I didn’t read any further than that but I’m certain that what you posted was perspicacious and erudite

So you decided my opinion is invalid because my father, grandparents and brother were all in the military? As well as rude, you are ignorant.

Oh behave. I had loads of Action Man stuff as a kid and as far as I can remember have never thought “Isn’t war brilliant!”.

Me too. I come from a military family and am married to a man who grew up in a military family. Both of us are anti war/violence.
In fact only the ignorant would think that kids are so linear as to react so simplistically to army toys. If my girls wanted this stuff they could have it.

binners I agree, and I am not suprised that there is little sympathy, just saddened. If you don’t like his behaviour, surely the last thing you should do is mimic it, otherwise you lose your moral stance right?

I agree with Edd. Whilst I don’t like Moyles either I take no pleasure in another persons pain. This is the whole problem with modern society. We should all be helping each other. Kindness goes a long way.

I expect that most of the other members of the social circle feel that they do not quite fit in either.

We made a mobile phone claim on our house insurance alst year, for a smashed screen. At renewal time some insuresers point blank refused to quote because of this claim. Esure was one of them.

management of expectaions. You thought it was going to be amazing? Let it settle in.
From a Mum’s perspective, my poor OH didn’t get a look in for months and he was very pissed off about it. Now the girls adore him and I am just a doormat..

No worries, give me your address and I’ll pop round and randomly wake you up.
You might call me a herbert, but if you are happy to party the night away and keep your neighbours awake then you are an ignorant person with little consideration for others.

My desire for a decent nights sleep does not stop you from partying, just don’t do it where I can hear you, what exactly is wrong or selfish about that?

    dbcooper

Expecting everyone to simply conform to your own ideals is a bit myopic..

This is twaddle, since when was it an ideal to want a decent nights sleep? I don’t care what you do as long as it does not interfere with my life, make as much noise as you want, as long as it doesn’t wake me up thats fine.

Its not the same as a fire engine is it? The fire engine doesn’t stay outside your house from 9pm till 3am honking its horn. Plus I don’t object to losing my sleep when someones life is in danger, but when someone chooses to keep me awake becasue it’s fun.
It’s mean. I would never do it to my neighbours.

I think any time after 11 even once a year or ever is unreasonable. Why is it OK for other people to randomly steal your sleep? It’s antisocial and inconsiderate. We often have guests until the small hours, but we are more than capable, despite being quite drunk, of behaving in a quiet reasonable manner after 11pm.

Record it every time, go to EH they will send them a warning letter and maybe they will back off, if not play it back to them with very loud speakers.
