They defo not 9/16. I think I could tap it out with a 9/16 pedal as it’s very close but don’t want to risk it.
Ceept managed to fit DMR to his sobtgey may have changed them as this one is a few years old.
Good idea by ER to make more dosh lol

It’s not a single piece crank as the freehub/freewheel is on the crank not the back wheel. It’s defo not 9/16 if that’s the norm as tried fitting some of my pedals to it. I can screw the pedals off the ER to my bike but realy loose thread. I will contact them next week to see what’s what. Nice little bikes though in proportion with an adult bike not like most kid bikes.

I thought it was only on iOS?
You need a half decent pc for it to run smooth I bought one for the job as my laptop was too slow.
I still couldn’t run it on high with onboard graphics.

Cheers lads. I hit a problem though. I tried to fit a pair of welgo pedals from a hot rock which were a much thinner axle. So out of curiosity I tried a set of pedals that fit normal adults bikes and they were slightly to big. I can only assume that Early Rider make bespoke pedals and tap the crank arms to suit ?
I’ve been at his pedals with the dremmel and they are much grippier now. I also put my elbow pads on his knee/shins just incase. Would still like the option to get different pedals when he gets more confident with peddling but ER don’t list any on there site.

Will do then mate cheers. I think im only going to fit 1 offset bushing as one side if the shock looks tight for clearance plus not much clearance from my back tyre to seat tube.
Now to decide between the debonair or normal air shift :-)

Cheers lads. Going to order an air spring tomorrow. Should I just get a 160mm and not bother with bushing as bb is already -20mm? I have no problem going with the 150mm and a bushing though
    Cheers

Hi mate thanks for reply but I don’t mean in the air shaft. I mean the lowers of the fork where the stanchions go in. The dust seals do a good job of sealing the lowers so air either gets trapped in or a vacuum.

Some people don’t like slime but I can honestly say it does work. It won’t fix slashes but holes off thorns etc are no bother.
My riding buddy used to get flats all the time and I eventually talked him in to using some and he managed near a 1000 miles without a flat.
When the slime eventually runs out or you do get a puncture you will see all the green dots on the tube each one was a puncture.
I’m tubeless now on my mtbs and wouldn’t go back however my cx is still tubes with slime in.

I would highly recommend an insta360 camera. I have the one and it’s super smooth without a gimbal. The one x will be even better.

I had one on my focus cx and I wore a couple out. Not as good as basic shamans bb IMHO. I think your stuck with it unless you change your chainset as it’s different size to the shimano axle. They a lot dearer to replace Ashwell.

    What about a vivoactive 3?
I used to be on garmin but now have a fb ionic which is decent but more for all round general fitness. The wife has a va 3 and it’s spot on.

I always stop and help if possible. We helped a few people last week up Hamsterley with quick links etc. Would be a bummer if my chain snaps though and on a down note I have to order another link. I always try to be prepared but would hope someone would help me if I was stuck.
On the other hand I give myself over a hundred stitches and lost a big chunk of my nose in September and not one cyclist asked if I needed help on the way back to the van. Could be they were shocked at what I looked like and I’m a bit glad they didn’t as I didn’t know how bad I was until I drove to a&e.
Glad I read this thread reminded me to order some quick links :-)

I can vouch for northward Celsius if you clippless waterproof and warm . I’ve just bought a used pair of five tenn Karver for flats and they seem pretty warm and weather proof. I also wear a pair of sealskinz.

    Cheers for the opinions lads.
I might just stick with the fs pro then. Trail centres is the toughest terrain I do really and not worth getting one for the couple of times a year i might ride rougher stuff.
I just get itchy feet and end up with a different bike 🤙🤙

I was going to sell the anthem but I ended up keeping it for my son to use as he sold his bike.
I’m just worried about peddling up the climbs on the reign as never sat on one.
I do like the trances though but don’t think it would be much different to my fs geometry wise.
I just get the bug every year to change bikes lol and always fancied a reign.

Why not buy a tool kit. I bought the icetoolz one bout 6 years ago and used it all the time. The only thing that broke is the chain splitter but that might have been down to user error.

Pop a debonair air shift in they are supposed to give much better small bump compliance. Only around £40. I’m going to do my pike when I service it after Xmas.

I got my son a kitvision hd8 I think and it is decent. Not as good as a gp but for 30 quid pretty good.
I’m sure the will make better ones now.

I have the switchblade and it’s spot on.  I don’t bother taking the chinguard off as it is plenty breathable imho.   I haven’t used it in the summer yet though.

I also have a Met parachute which is realy breathable which I have used when it was warm and it was fine.

It depends how you look at it.

I used to do a lot of riding in the dark and would  much rather have slightly heavier wheels than sit on a track in the pitch black for 15 mins repairing a puncture especially if it’s raining.

They defenaitly work as when I do end up changing the tube usually because of a large split or the slime has all been used you can see all the punctures it has sealed.

I do prefer tubeless but I didn’t want to ghetto it on my cx as I like to run high pressure and didn’t want to splash out on new wheels/tyres

Why not just buy one and try it you can easy take it out ?

I used slime for years until I went tubeless and it stops most small punctured.    I still use it on my cx.

Well got the air spring and it was for a yari.  I believe it is comptable but it is 160mm which makes it 170mm for a pike which means it’s too much for me .

i might buy the debonair upgrade after Xmas in 150mm if it’s worth it.

I have settled on smart sams they roll good enough and give decent grip off road and cheap.

I once stripped the plastic preload star bolt on a pretty new bike and the crank arm kept coming off even when tightening the pinch bolts to spec.

I ordered a metal preload bolt and it solved it so I think it does a bit more than preload the bearing.

Cheers mate I just assumed that with it only needing 23mm build up compared to 43mm it would have been closer.

I’ve never had 180mm standard forks only 160mm.

    Cheers lads

Would it not be closer to the rotor if that was the case rick ? Could it be 160 fork with a 180 to 203 adapter ?

    Hi mate

i done it in September for the first time.

Mom not that good on a bike but can manage red and black trails ok and I managed it fine just not that fast but I finished 😀.

There isn’t many rocks that I can remember apart from stage 5 but still not that many.

I think general trail centre riding will put you in good form.

I cant jump but all the jumps I went over were rollable.

I was a bit nervous at the top of stage one though but it was ok once a went down.

I would practice walking up steps and steep hills lol

i got a shock with the climb out of stage 5 and actually slipped backwards down the hill till I hit another bike when I slipped 😩

i didn’t manage to get tickets this year though 😂
