Ah FFS. First WBD nick downhill, now the Tour.

It’s July, it’s 7pm, it’s ITV4, everyone shut up I’m watching my programme, like I have for every year since Channel4. Not anymore I’m not. I don’t pay for any subscription TV so that’s me done.
**** greedy bstard paywall bolox. No more casual viewers to get hooked.

This is so sad. I really enjoyed marshalling these while the lad raced. They were such a good vibe fun event and Kev is an absolute legend. Massively unsung hero. Hope a new venture is in the works.

Not sure what the answer is but less races can’t be a good thing.

Not new but never fixed – Ads take up most of the screen, ad close button doesn’t work until pressed several times. And then you’ve unintentionally clicked on whatever was underneath or nearby. Hitting the Back button starts the whole thing over. And all of this is in slow motion, it is definitely the slowest website of all sites I have ever used.

If you’re not going to Whistler for the bike park then don’t go to Whistler. It’s super expensive as a base so there’s no point being there if youre not all about the park.

We went as part of our RV tour one July and haze and smoke were bad due to worldwide fires. And Crankworx was on. Which made it super duper ace. Recommend.

Wow it’s bittersweet that it’s so common here  – I seem to be the only one in my riding buddy group who suffers.

I’ve had a really good physio give me some really good exercises and I’ve been doing them most days for over a year and before rides and really felt they had made a difference. Cat cow child superman mountain climber – all the good ones.

The pings were much less frequent and they were really low level pain. That’s what’s so depressing about today’s 10/10 pain ping.

I try and work in office all the time because I do 10x  more movement and steps compared to at home. Plus I ride to work.
I did wfh Friday but also did a 10k Mtb ride in the afternoon. So a day of low&high movement before the day of ping.
    Who knows.

Glad it’s not just me then.

Frustrating thing is I’ve had an excellent couple of months – riding lots, walking, stretching, strength training. Booking some sports physio next week, regular sports massage is the only thing I haven’t tried cos I can’t afford it.

    It screws all my plans.
Supposed to be playing guitar at a jam gig and bbq tonight – cancelled. Peaks ride Sunday – nope.
Got Foo Fighters standing at Villa park on Thursday.  No way I’m not going!

And Verbier in August. If this happens out there I’m totally fecked.
    Stress.

We’ve planned a weekend in July to include a day in Dyfi Forest – so i thought i’d resurrect this thread.

What’s the latest from anyone who’s ridden there?

Is Heaven&Hell actually clear of trees – it was an amazing trail until storm damage a couple years ago and it was so battered I cound’t imagine anyone ever clearing it. Would be great to hear its back up and running?

Tomohawk/Sparrohawk, Midge isolation are a couple of faves. King of steep usually too steep unless ultra dry for me.

Any map of any recent enduro there? Is there still that TrashFreeTrails lovely trail down through the woods near the bottom near the campsite?

Any recommended, starting from the Aber side?

Race Tapes is out now on redbull, a sort of replacement for Fast Life, Worth a watch but not all that gripping. Dialed was genuine behind the scenes with no false drama or false edit interview pauses from the Drive To Survive bandwagon. I learned a hell of a lot about suspension from Jordi! And the sense of crazy bike speed from the trackside shots was just jaw dropping.

I think they got plenty of views.
I find the Bernard Kerr stuff totally unwatchable. All of the zero edit straight to upload vids must have its fans but I’m not one of them.

I was on the beta and I fedback I didn’t like the swipey layout vs the old scroll and see everything layout. It got REALLY laggy on my phone and sync got randomly unreliable so I went back to the old one.
sounds like feedback was a waste of time.

Did they clear Heaven&Hell then? That was absolutely covered in many many downed trees last year and looked like it would never recover.

    How about the Sparrowhawk/President pair?

Came here to recommend the enduro trails from the Aberangel side and gutted to hear they’re somewhat trashed.
We spent a couple of weekends seeking out those trails using Welsh Enduro stage maps and Trailforks, they were awesome. The owner at Dyfi Adventure campsite is super helpful with takes of where to go.
We were planning on getting back there this spring – will need to check with you forum locals how it’s looking before planning. I know the campsite has delayed their spring opening to May due to waterlogged everything so it’s a good bet the forest is an absolute mess still.

To the OP – no. Never.

It saves lots of cash, gets the bike shop more trade and gets you riding more.

And since they expanded it to literally anything in a bike shop, not just a full bike, they can’t have any intention or means to ever check.

Well i run DHR2 on front and rear all year round, can never be arsed with changing for each season. So I just want to stick with what i know and get them in DH super sticky for a week in Verbier in the summer. Bit of bike park but mostly the trails so I think they’ll be brill.

The Conti’s are definitely getting the big hype of the day but I’m not keen on paying £££ changing from what I know work. I tried an Assegai on the front last year and decided to they were too DH for me, saved them for the Alps as a spare.

Good point about the flip chip. So if i left the flip chip on low, then everything a bit slacker.

Got whammed by my wife’s xmas playlist on Saturday morning, whamming herself in the process. Then daughter and son both got whammed at their respective Saturday night parties. The whole family got wiped out in one day.

On the plus side my band played it last night at our big xmas gig and everyone bloody loved it. (Nobody was whammed of course, only the original counts)

I’m on E7. Just got an email from Octopus saying :

The technology that switches your meter from peak to off-peak price is coming to an end in March 2024. After the Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) ends, your meter’s timings may not work as expected.

So they want me to change to a smart meter.

Never heard that it needs ‘technology’ to switch meters. I mean, its just a clock isnt it?

I’ve resisted smart meters, it wont change how much elec I use but it does give total control of price/kwh per every second of every day to the supplier. And then they can do anything they want with dynamic tariffs. Which won’t be for our benefit.

Plus my bill is dominated by gas usage. They came to change the gas meter once, it blew their minds that it was outside on the wall and in our alleway and refused to change it. Nevef came back. Wierd.

Yes you’re right, needs a tool to adapt to a torque wrench. Otherwise it looks like the standard shimano threaded tool fits plus guessing the torque.

If they have sorted a decent loop at Dyfi, then I’m in. This years race was a joke.

Out of interest what was bad about Dyfi? The forest trails are awesome fun to ride (not raced anything there myself)

@mravilious – what makes them more durable than the competition? Is it the integration of gears and motor into a single unit or something specific to the gearbox or motor designs? How will you demonstrate its better than the other guys (enough to convince a crowd to fund it)?

I went to his Buxton appearance in 2022, sounds like its the same inspiring night this time round. He’s a remarkable guy.

Speakers From the Edge are great – saw Hans Rey (while sat next to Peaty), then Peaty on his one. Looks like Hans has some dates in 2024. Recommended. Don’t know if its the same at the other venues, but at Buxton Martyn, Hans and Steve were all hanging around in the bar before and after their show just chatting with everyone.

    Hi

I came here to post about Lockerbrook and found this thread.
We rode today up around Ladybower.

Lockerbrook descent has been totally ruined. Flattened to a mirror finish 10foot wide virtual tarmac A-road for what I can only assume is forestry machine access. Absolutely gutted to see this happen to one of the best descents in the peaks.
Maybe this is old news as I haven’t ridden it for a long while.

It’s hard pack sand so MAYBE will cut up again in a few years. Or maybe someone has a plan to restore after the Tonka toys are done.
    Avoid.

But you don’t watch it, so how would you know? You know, if you’d paid for it and subscribed then your complaints would be valid, but as it is, GTFO.

You ok mate? Did you read the title of the thread?

I used to watch every race on RedBullTV. It had the best vibe and I was genuinely glued to it.

I now dont watch any races and ride my bike instead. This is a really good thing to have come out of the DH mess for me. I used to actively avoid arranging rides on a WC DH day. Now I actively arrange a ride on a WC DH day.

I don’t pay for any TV package so I can only watch on dodgystream.com which never works, the results are spoilered by UCI on purpose within seconds of a result, the highlights are shit, the commentary is terrible, semis are pointless and the schedule is a joke.

WynTV, Fox Dialed, VitalRaw and BK LSD are the only things keeping DH alive.

As Jordi says – (should have) changed one thing at a time and see if it works…

Peaks is our local so we’re going further afield. CyB is a good shout – I’ll take a look at the maps
