:-( sad to hear that….mine’s not too good at the moment either. Vet in the morning and some big decisions to make…

If the map has been published, a group of us should ride it anyway and exercise our world leading rights of access.

The landowners can jump up and down all they want then.

That’s annoying. Was on for that – it’s the week after Tour de Ben Nevis so was going to do a double header.

Superb start to a post! OP asks question but clearly knows the answer already!

AFAIK only Nicolai have a transferable warranty to any owners within the 5 year period.

    Any others out of interest?

FFS did anyone just see the news? Dropping napalm on a school playground? Surely we must do something. Almost in tears watching that report.

+1 for chromag. I’ve 2 bikes with Hope and 1 with Chromag at it is better imo. Tighter, smoother, no creaking etc.

If you can’t afford Troy Lee, buy something cheaper. Don’t buy counterfeit shit.

Yeah WTF – I’m so cool in my TLD gear! Yeah right. And inside you a little bit of your soul dies because you know you’re lying. Plenty good gear that is not ripped off.

Pretty sure my bike does less damage than the average horse. And I rarely leave dung all over the trail either.

I agree with you 100%, but this is the argument that is used against MTBs time and again.

put a CR500 mountain biker next to even your raddest most gnarcore STWer rambler and ask them to let rip..

    Same argument exactly.

    dazzlingboy

Ah, so because MTBs are allowed everywhere, they can cause whatever damage they like?

As a long time rider of both kinds of bikes, my sympathies are split, but I find it hypocritical that MTBs are seen here as the good guys and MX as evil trail damaging hooligans. This is precisely the argument that other trail users use to bash MTB riders and that hasn’t done much to improve relations or move either cause forward much IMO.

Yes in Scotland we can go anywhere but I that didn’t stop me being roundly abused on Sunday in the Pentlands (and I’m SUPER polite believe me) by walkers both in the hills and on the canal.

And as someone else pointed out, and as I know from experience, MX riders are seriously persecuted in Scotland (no BOATS etc up here) so basically you HAVE to wing it “illegally” if you want to ride at all. No trail centres for them. Of course some MX riders behave irresponsibly like the litter louts in Glentress, but the majority don’t.

    mtbs just aren’t

Well reasoned argument – thanks. Horseriders/ramblers/others may disagree with that.

evidence they leave is always visible

Yep – I just posted about the evidence that MTB riders leave behind on another thread (Glentress).

Superb. Replace the words “MX” with “MTB” and you turn this thread into a page from Rambler’sTrackWorld.

How many threads are there on here about cheeky trails, trail building, riding footpaths etc, yet when someone else does it it is time for pitchforks and Bombers!?

Signed. Don’t really care if some are VAT exempt and some aren’t. MRT should be IMO.

I enjoy Spooky Wood, but am constantly pissed off by the amount of rubbish left lying beside the picnic table at the top. Much prefer sections of the black nowadays (not much use to the OP perhaps) at least partly to avoid the Spooky Wood rubbish tip.

Drive to the top car park. Head up the red but stay on the forest road till you reach the Spooky wood climb. There might be some swearing and cursing up the wood climb but it’s short. Fire road to top. You’re there.

    This

There aren’t endless pots of cash to fight every age old legal case – that may sound harsh but we have vital services here and now that are desperate for funding to be effective to protect truly vulnerable groups of people.

    and that

give it a rest.. we ve had apologies for the slave trade, inquest in to hillsborough half a dozen times we ve replayed bloody sunday so many times no one can remember now who did what.. outcome.. not one person jailed or convicted of wrong doing.

whats done is done live for today

IMO. We have a shit load of problems on our plate today including ensuring that the police uphold the law without having to dig back through the history books looking for old battles to fight.

Alarm Mines! Wow. Very tempting but I’m amazed that such a thing is legal! I have no sympathy for thieving scrotes but wouldn’t want to end up in court cos I’ve blinded someone with a blank cartridge. Mind you, the boys in blue would probably be round in a trice if one or two of those things went off!

And reading a bit further back in this thread I’m struck by a few things. I’ve spent a bit of time in Finland this year – a small nation of 5 million people. Do they feel they need to join back up with Russia, or go calling on the Danes, Swedes or other Baltic neighbours to form a “union”. Do they hell. Setting aside economics etc, why do these great ties matter? They matter today sure, but will they matter in 50 years if we split up? No.

I’m not passionately for or against but I find spurious “we need a union because we’ve always had one” arguments distracting from the real issues.

The racing bit is a red herring. Mattjg is right – if riding recklessly and they injure then yes – I don’t care if they were stravaing/racing (which would be nigh on impossible to prove in any case) or just riding along.
