Agree the guy rides like a c0ck, but fair play to him to putting his hand up and admitting it, and telling others publicly to be careful.

I’m a biker and it made me think and if it makes one person ride a bit more carefully and avoid the kind of accident we nearly saw there then that’s a good thing no?

Mrs DB and I spent our honeymoon touring round eastern Denmark – island hopping. Flew to Copenhagen then train to Aarhus and biked from there.

It’s police, seeing as your spell-checker obviously isn’t working.

Nope – definitely polis up here.

I have a wee Exped one – not as heavy duty as a Lomo or Ortleib one but at £25 it is perfect.

    Hilti TE30 – £1100 RRP! Wow – I didn’t know you could spend that on a drill!

S’pose man in the street would say the same about bikes mind you.

As above – with kids and bikes it’s hard to look past Aviemore. Sure, the beaches on the western Isles are (imo) one of the most beautiful places in the world, but kids will be bored in 10 minutes, or less if the midges are out, or even less if it is raining and blowing a gale. Aviemore area well set up with wet weather alternatives and great bike trails for exploring/picnics. Good pubs if you’re into that (Old Bridge Inn). Rent canoes on Loch Morlich or a day on the Spey (very gentle at Kincraig/Aviemore end). It’s not the western Isles or the NW highlands but it’s great with kids. We own a holiday cottage near Glencoe and go camping every year in Aviemore – so much to do.

Nobody is going to do a bloody thing. Facts on the ground are all that matters. The City of London is awash with billions in bent Russian cash, being laundered.

That NY Times article is (by a long chalk) the best thing I’ve found on STW for a long time. Compulsory reading even if you don’t 100% agree.

I’d go round there & give the perp a hiding

Depending on size of perp, I’d be very tempted by this course of action.

Hammerite- I’m in exactly the same boat as you. I’ll be earning about a fifth of what I was earning prior to deciding to go into teaching.

I worked hard in my previous life to make that kind of money, and am now finding myself working harder. Three years ago, I was that corporate person who looked at teachers and thought exactly what the OP posted. Now I’ve done what many others on here have suggested – walk a mile in another man’s shoes and then comment.

Motorbikes – front brake on right everywhere (modern bikes anyway before someone points out Royal Enfields are different). So why pushbikes different?

Epson WF-3520 here – used solidly for 6 months and is very good. I buy inks from 3rd party which is fine for 99% of work (I use a big Canon Pro9000 mkII for photos) and the ink is £8 for 15 cartridges – buttons.

Yes doors are steel now afaik. Will check what I’m getting for my money as you say.

Just go thorough insurance and get it done properly then.

Yes other driver’s insurance is fixing the rear panel which was driven into. This rust is not an insurance issue – I’m paying for this extra myself.

To be fair, I’ve spent hardly a penny on it from new apart from annual servicing and a £25 MOT, so I reckon a bill is coming.

What should I be asking for underbody sealant – what do I want done? Waxoyl type job or something different?

Thanks for all the help – as you can tell I’m much happier building bikes than landies!

Ah, so what we’re saying is £295 is an amazing price if the work is done correctly. However there is scepticism if the work can be done correctly at that kind of price?

Yes I know those tubular steps are a pain – might remove them as they’re starting to rust a bit.

This work is being done as part of a repair as someone drove into me parked on the road and they’re paying. Bodyshop man said he’d basically up their price and reduce mine so I’m slightly tied to him.

Next question – underbody sealing in Edinburgh? Vehicle is 6 years old and showing that classic landy slightly rusty chassis – just surface as above I’d like to nip it in the bud. Any ideas where to go – I’ve tried a bunch of places but no-one does it – any suggestions? I know there’s someone in Alloa or somewhere but must be somewhere closer to home?

Small world. Been guddling with a Kanga today too. Guess we all got the same delivery. Mine sits a bit lower than yours – I have a large frame – but still impossible to mount lights which seems like a serious oversight to me. Came with no instructions, nothing on the website etc so thought I was doing it all wrong till I saw your pics. Not overly impressed with it tbh. Seems fairly secure and well built which are the positives but the design seems a bit averagio.

Interested to hear what alpkit have to say. Some instructions/guidance wouldn’t go amiss.

Hmmmm…an extra £20-£30 to tape a potentially very expensive frame and increase possible re-sale value…bit of a no brainer IMO

    I’m with you.

Mmmmm -zero feedback – brand new seller straight in with a £3k bike? Crap description lifted straight off their website? Only one (crap) pic of his pride and joy?

    I don’t think so.

Spending billions on nuclear weapons and fancy fighter jets while people need food banks – it’s the kind of thing we used to complain about African dictators doing,

This and a hundred other posts like it. This is why many sensible people (i.e. not Braveheart clad extremists) want independence. So we don’t p1ss away money on crap no-one wants or needs in this Century (not just military spending, but lots of examples of that ilk) but on improving the country and the society we live in.

So you went from Medium to Large yes? That’s exactly the kind of feedback I’d like to hear – I suspect I’d be the same.

Yes this 29+ is a bonus. Something I didn’t know about before today but a wet day and lots of internet research and I now understand the benefits!

On that basis, the drivetrain and cheap tubing I’m leaning away from the Caribou towards the Mukluk. Just can’t figure out sizing – I’m right between. Should really wait till the Forth Fat to try some out but doubt I can wait that long……

What user name are you trying to use on UK Fat Bikes?

    Same as here.

Yes have been watching those mukluks on ebay but think mediums are too small for me – 5’11” – I think I’m on the border between medium large. Mukluk owners – any ideas on sizing?

Anyone know how to get access to uk fatbikes? Been trying for about a week and everytime I get the “you will be verified by the admin” or somesuch. No email received. Feeling unwanted. :(

I recall these is someone from this parish connected with the site?
