What’s all this nonsense about pigs and Early Learning Centre?

Does no-one bother to check these myths before they post them??

    Linky – I see a pig
Yep – there’s a pig in this one too.

And a pig with 3 piglets in this one!
    Yet more pigs at ELC.

    More
    and more

and I’ll not even mention the several dozen Peppa Pig items!!!

I’ve been all over Scandinavia a lot – Iceland and Norway especially have exorbitant price levels compared to here. Even taking into comparison wages etc their drink, especially in pubs/restaurants etc is way more expensive.

Yet there is a huge drinking culture – the prices in no way have put anyone off. A night out in Reykjavik has to be experienced to be believed. Everyone is howling drunk!

On the basis of price alone, they should be nations of teetotallers. It is down to culture more than price alone.

Thanks Ewan for the link. I’m slightly clearer! Having been on CRC etc etc there are many kinds! Most are sold as Maxle for Reba, for Argyle, for Boxxer etc – and also 32 and 35mm chassis. So still not sure which one?

+1 – I suspect your £100 budget will be right out the window once you’ve tried the Liberator – awesome piece of engineering.

Bought a Litespeed Toccoa frame off ebay September last year. £330 quid – with v-brake bosses. They are there if you are lucky.

Pockets of publicly-owned land have already been hived off by the Forestry Commission, including Riggwood at Grizedale, which was sold for around £120,000 last year and later closed to public access.

This seriously worries me. We’re hopefully slightly safer up here in Scotland where access cannot (currently) be closed off (generally), but this is surely the thin end of the wedge. The sad thing is 99% of people won’t even notice never mind care.

Yep – I read Mrs Toast’s response the same way Nonk does. It’s all a bit childish but in the scheme of things pretty harmless/sad/irrelevant.

I’m 5’11” and have a medium LT with 140mm fork – purchased as ex-demo from the good folks at Glentress :-)

I hmm’d and haa’d about the size – I’ve always ridden bigger/longer bikes but I’m really glad I went for the medium here. I could probably have gone for the Large but with a 70mm stem the medium is spot on. I have a 32.5 inside leg and my 400mm seatube is close to the top. With the couple of inches you have on me I would say a Large would be ideal for you.

Awesome bike – just perfect for blasting trail centres – strange I know but I really enjoy climbing now – it is just instant when accelerating but as Glynp says it is much less harsh than say my old Klein on the rougher stuff/descending.

I have 2 Nicolais as well but riding Glentress for example I tend to be on the Lynskey. I keep thinking I need to take full suss but the Lynskey is just a joy to ride and I keep reaching for it and find it my bike of choice especially at this time of year.

Interestingly, I see the Ridgeline LT 26 has disappeared off the Lynskey website – now replaced with a 29er. Does that mean the Ridgeline 26LT is now a collector’s item??

Bought a Tefal Preference 30cm pan from these guys on ebay – top of the range gear, free delivery.

Same as the Jamie Oliver kit (if not better) but cheaper as it doesn’t have his name on it.

Thanks – Handbrake seemed to work OK but when I tried to play the new MP4 file, it was corrupted – blocks on the screen and corrupted image but the sound was OK and you could see through the blocks that it had converted something! Was on PC. Maybe using the wrong settings – there are so many to choose from on there.

@taki – 5 seats, so 2 kids, 2 labs and all our kit no problem! Great at this time of year mind you.

This was the M8 yesterday at about 10am – it got much worse after this and thankfully I got off before it got any worse and was able to get home via backroads.

Towed a Toureg out of the ditch last night. But no pic. Then towed an X5 out – tried to take a pic but the owner went ballistic! Packed up my tow rope – gave him the finger and drove off leaving him there without a word. Then pulled out a guy in his car who was going to Sick Kids. I expect to be rewarded in the next life.

Yes, but they have been clamped down on and a lot better than 10-15 years ago.
    Yes – in hotels
Loads in medina – Riad Magellan and Riad Slawi – google them – have stayed in both and both recommended.
Cash machines everywhere including the airport although airport ones are busy
Yes – integral to the culture.
Get a taxi. Actually quite walkable although not worth the hassle.
As above – a bit but not really. Plenty walking about in skimpy western clothes so no real hassle in the medina. Further afield, dress conservatively.

Great city – have visited many times although not so much for the city itself – more en route to the mountains or the desert.

Place Jemaa el Fnaa at night back in September

Wife on third VW 2.0 TDi 140 – Golf, Touran and now Passat estate – fantastic engine. One tip though – don’t get the DSG if interested in fuel economy. The Golf and the new Passat regularly getting 45+mpg as they are manual. DSG in Touran returned 35 on a good day. Huge difference despite being identical engines – only difference is in the transmission as the DSG has the added load of effectively running 2 gearboxes.

What is all this CV chat I keep seeing on here? I presume you mean Carron Valley? What’s all the fuss about – must’ve missed this chat from the depth of my snowy cave! Someone want to rake over old coals and enlighten the rest of us? (or am I the only one not in the know?)

Allay sync. Use it daily for 1TB of photos. Works a treat.

Think this through people, you are not going to get cheap subsidised riding, top class facilities and the cafe of your choice any longer without some financial input coming in from somewhere.

That kind of sensible chat isn’t going to get you far!

Like it or not, these kind of facilities are going to have to become at least slightly more self sufficient. They need to start generating money, although I doubt they will ever run at a profit. None of us will be forced to use it, and if other riders do, and thereby keep the trails open for all of us for a minimal parking charge, then I can live with it..

Ps I’m a huge fan if the current set up, but the writing is on the wall unfortunately.

+1 for the oil filled heater in the room. Our main heating goes off at 10pm so we have the oil heater on a timer from 10pm to 6am set to 16 to keep the temp ticking over. Doesn’t seem to add anything significant to the elec bills either.

These have TREK in huge letters on them with a tiny Gary Fisher signature on the top tube. No doubt that will disappear soon.

seem to be permanently stripping bikes, building new ones from the pile of bits. 4 new bikes (well, 2nd hand) in last 2 months.
