Have been shopping for years using Aliexpress, the normal procedure is “Payment Processing” and then that changes to payment received (can take a while), and then a few more days for the item(s) to move through the China postal network… some things take weeks to arrive, and others can be delivered to your door in a matter of weeks.

I ordered items on the 4th of September, tracking them show them between China and the UK.

I followed the instructions for the dishing tool from Roger Musson’s great book on wheel building…all my bikes are 26″ wheels, but I would imagine that it would be adequate for 27.5″ and 29″ as the tool has a fairly wide footprint…the measurement spoke can be moved forward or back to measure from the appropriate point on the hub.

I made one out of scrap wood and an old broken spoke, cost was FREE…

As above, an IS adapter would be easier to manufacture than the original one (photo from a German website):

that looks the biz…. may fire off an email to check out the price…. cheers….good find… 🙂

the adapter was indicative to the 2006/07 Trek Session 10 as was the rear mech hanger they could be moved up/down to give a slacker/steeper angle to the bike.

been looking at a few 2nd DH bikes (I can’t justify a brand new DH rig at my age….. 🙂 ), will hang on till around Xmas time and see what’s still available…will miss the big rig that’s fer sure…

have just purchased 2nd hands drone parts…. bird number 3 is going to be an ongoing project….LOL

I reckon Cairnsmore of fleet behind Kirro would be a peach for a drone vid, as it’s open, no tree cover, and has fantastic open aspects over the firth

had thought of that with a few other bikers…..tis the bloody slog up the hill with all the gear that puts me off, as the multirotor is a fair sized beastie and it don’t fold down….LOL

no quick cure for your ills….. I just hit the gym as much as I can and also get out on my bike as much as I can, I don’t take supplements at all, but I try to eat sensibly (notice I never mentioned healthy), and I am 61 and still feel the lactic burn of a heavy workout or bike ride…

we have a rescued staffie that has been part of our family since 2010, I have never in my life met a more obedient and submissive dog in my life, she loves it when our youngest Granddaughter pays us a visit, as she and her “Mooch” (the staffie) are the best of buddies, Mooch is so gentle with the granddaughter it’s a sight to behold.

shimano brakes are a dawdle to do…. no issues with the Rear Zee brake on my DH rig after I shortened the hose…I did do a brake bleed on said brake afterwards though…

tis doable, but bear in mind that parts of the proposed walk will be over rocks, beaches and perhaps some steep cliffs…you will have to hike a bike a bit….LOL

yup, I feel as though I have been “Meals on Wheels” for the bitey big buggers when riding the trails at Kirroughtree of late.

I normally poodle roon Kirrie in about 1h.45m’ish.. just lately I have been doing sub 1h.20m times…. just trying to keep on the move to stop them having me as a meatfeast…. 🙂

on Saturday my riding buddy had to change an inner tube on his bike…..I told him he could catch up on me as I wasn’t stopping….. the bitey buggas even destroy friendships….LOL….

what format are the old stw editions?, you can always use the FREE “Calibre” software program to convert the STW format over to mobi (or whatever format the Paperwhite uses) and then just use a data cable to upload them to the Kindle..

Our Local bike shop had an e-bike demo day a few weeks ago….I thought why not… let’s give them a go… have to admit that riding the bikes were effortless, I tried a full suss and then a hardtail….I did enjoy the bikes for the 10 min test ride on each of them, but to be honest something was missing…..it was about an hour later I realised that I felt as though I didn’t actually have any feeling of having a workout as such.. could just be me though… would I buy an e-bike….. yes, when my old legs can no longer pedal my old fashioned 26″ wheeled bikes…. 🙂

yep, I use a buff under me helmet :-O  have it sitting just above my eyes to catch the sweat…. works OK but not great, also wear gloves with fitted sweat patch to catch the rest of the sweat….

I fitted a pair of M2’s to a Rocky Mountain Blizzard steel hard tail, the brakes do the job perfectly, but if you are the type that hares around trails then I would advise fitting a larger pair of rotors, as the 6″ rotors that came with the kit are a tad undersized at times….. but to be fair I can’t really complain at the cost of £34 for the complete set, incl bolts and spare olives……. 🙂 , plus the fact that the levers are adjustable…

I know that you stated “not wanting it to hook up with your mobile phone”, but some of these devices need an app on your phone to function properly…

have a shufty at the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 from Aliexpress or Gearbest, they are cheap enough and the manufacturer updates the firmware on a regular basis…

I had the Mi Band 2 along with a few other cheap apps from Playstore in order to get it to work the way I wanted….I now have a Samsung gear fit 2 and it is a total piece of crap… I wish I had not sold my Mi band 2… there is a Mi Band 3 to be released in the UK in the next few months…

I fired an email off to Fox, this is the reply I received….

“Unfortunately we don’t have any published service info for product pre-dating 2013″…..

WOW… yet I located servicing info easy enough on an old set of Rockshox 2003 Judy’s and 08 Reba’s……I was positive that I located servicing info on the Fox website last year for a set of 2009 Float forks…… :-O

    davy-g

I recently built up a 2003 Rocky Mountain Blizzard steel hard tail frame…. a combination of new or 2nd hand parts…. the main thing to consider is that forks with a 1 1/8th straight steerer tube will get harder and harder to source, as nearly all forks these days come with a tapered tube….

Providing your bike is fulfilling your needs then why change it for something newer that is only going to sit in the shed most days…, my other bikes are a an 07 Trek session 10 and an 09 Commencal Meta55…. they both work…. so need for change…LOL

stop at Athabasca Falls, Icefields parkway, Lake Louise when driving from Jasper down to Banff, there are a few other sightseeing stops on that road, Lake Louise is mayhem for parking as it’s mega busy….. and take a Gondola ride up to the top of sulphur mountain while you are in Banff….. fair old view from up there…. 🙂

just remember that you’re not top of the food chain over there….LOL….. Bears have been videoed down near the Garbanzo uplift entry at whistler… always ask for local wildlife info wherever you plan on going biking

There is also Kamloops ranch for biking as well as Sun peaks bike resort just north of Kamloops.. enjoy yer stay…… been 9 years since I was over that way…… 🙂

I would do the repair very carefully… and if that don’t sort the problem out then I would fire it back to CRC…. (and deny, deny, deny all knowledge of any attempt at DIY …LOL)

As mentioned earlier… the motion control seal had failed…. I stripped the forks down and serviced the Motion control as well as the dual air, renewed all seals and whatnoughts….., even applied SRAM butter to the Bushings in the lower legs (as the stanchions were showing some wear cos the bushings were dry…),  all is working fine now… (time will tell….LOL…)

    thanks to all who replied…. cheers…. 🙂

I bought the service kit from Bikegoo… they are sold out… here is an alternative link
