I ordered one from Merlin a couple of weeks back but it hasn’t turned up. Not Merlin’s fault but I’ve had a few things sent via Royal Mail go missing lately. Anyway, paid £180 with no bleed kit, collar, box etc. Merlin are refunding me and I ordered one from Hibike.de late on Thursday, 30.9 125mm drop 420mm, right hand clamp. Had 4 or 5 emails informing of progress, delivered to work this morning. Boxed, bleed kit, collar, MMX doodid, the lot. £179.50 delivered (208.99 Euro plus 9.90 shipping). Looks a lovely bit of kit. First thing I’ve ordered from Germany, highly recommended.

Yeah, it’s balls. It plotted 50% of my ride about 2 miles away from where I actually went yesterday. Also had it give me and a mate times 30 seconds apart up a climb that we span up side by side chatting. Still addictive though….

Cheers all, good info. Seems I’ve got a good set so I’ll hang on to them, haven’t had a single problem in 4 years. Need new knee pads and shoes anyway…

I’m after a new set as well, will either be the Nukeproofs or the Fox Launch Pros, leaning towards the Foxs as they seem to be lighter/better vented so more usable more of the time.

Any pointers on sizing on either of these would be appreciated, I’m of a lanky persuasion, tall with skinny legs.

A hope v2 rear brake and a 2011 spesh pitch for a start.

Assuming it’s post mount and the v2 caliper is 160mm spacing as standard then a 160/183 post mount adaptor. If it’s more complicated than that then dunno guv.

You don’t need to change everything, 9spd cranks and chainrings will work with 10spd. You just need rear mech, rear shifter, cassette and chain (providing your chainrings aren’t too worn)

Yes, mate has just bought 10 speed SLX chainset and is running it with 9 speed SRAM cassette and shifters and 9 speed KMC chain, no problems about 6 rides in.

This stuff is awesome, just don’t touch it after ‘painting’ a coat on. Bottle is best value

That and you can use it to hold the post in the extended position should it go t*ts up on the trail. Useful to have in your pack just in case I’d have thought

Just ordered one from Merlin for £180. I did consider going down the German route but hibike don’t have the 420mm in stock and apparently sometimes Fishers are ok about warrantying non-UK supplied posts but sometimes they aren’t…..

Called Merlin up first – they are 2012 posts with the black collar (not silver as shown in the photo) and they are supplied to them in boxes of 20 (shows how many they must be shifting) so they are sent to customers bagged up. Not bothered about the bleed kit as a mate has one but would have liked the enduro collar to hold the seat up in case of ‘stuck-down’ syndrome. Prefer guaranteed warranty though.

Don’t worry yourselves about the lawn, I’ve since got the wife to sort it. None of my mates like the grips but they’re all fules.

Obviously doesn’t show too well in the photo but the headset is a green Chris King Inset and my frame is in the grey gunsmoke ano. Few other bits of green ano dotted about, would like a green CK bottom bracket but that won’t happen until the Hope one on there gives up.

Wheels came off my old Marin Wolf Ridge. Not usually keen on white rims myself but like you say reckon they look alright on this. Would really like green King hubs with black or grey rims but wallet says no, boo.

Can’t see much advantage in trimming the brake hose to pull it in an inch, can’t be arsed anyway!

@Bregante – I’d like to replace it with an FRV when it wears out. Had an Accord CDi tourer a few years ago, that was a great car
@OP – If your budget is higher that would be my choice.

Old Renault? Rather you than me…..Wife has got a Nissan Almera Tino family wagon. 3 proper seats in the back, Japanese reliabilty, decent amount of toys (reversing camera, wheel mount stereo controls, climate, half leather etc), 1.8 petrol returns low 30s (but no more), high tax but chain cam. Bought it 2 years ago, 2005, 1 owner, 30k, FSH, paid £3300. Done nothing to it other than an oil change and new mid and back exhaust last month. Drives well, only criticism is that the seats aren’t height adjustable, I’m 6’3″ and my hair brushes the roof if I’m due a trim. Honestly can’t think of a better wagon for the money.

Sounds like two different things, known issue caused by the design of the seat tube butting is one, seatpost getting caught on protruding weld and scored to **** is another

Is your flux a 2011? I got the frame in a box with a FOX manual, sweet FA else. When I bought my XCE in 97 I got a pamphlet congratulating me on being a super genius for having the sense to buy a Turner, it also hinted I was probably massively well endowed and popular too. I liked that, it made me feel special……

Hmmm, I had this on my 2005 5 Spot, called Turner direct (it was a reduced price trade in job for my 97 XCE), DT himself answered the phone, he was very apologetic, asked if I was happy for my LBS to do it and to send him the bill for a refund. Got an engineer mate to do it in the end.

Got a 2011 DW spot from Merlin a couple of months ago. Seatpost went in ok but when I went to remove it a few weeks later it was snagged and the Thomson post got badly scored in a zigzag stylee on the way out. This time I wrapped a broom handle with some wet and dry and sorted it out myself (I like to get ghetto with my bling, ok?).

My mate has just bought a 2012 spot and his came with a QA checklist with initials against each task, these included seat post reaming and check of BB threads (another common problem with beads from the blasting stuck in there apparently). I love Turners and I love the customer support but bit of a shame it’s taken them the best part of 20 years to sort out basics like this…..

Went out Sunday evening around Cissbury/Chanctonbury. There were swamps in some areas but generally pretty rideable in most places. My mate had the bright idea of doing a track down Cissbury back to Worthing that is well used by horses, after the first 100 metres the bike pretty much surfed all the way to the bottom, I was just along for the ride. I was cursing at first but laughing at the bottom. The missus wasn’t laughing so much at the 5lb of mud I brought back home with me. Which is a long winded way of saying a bit of local knowledge is helpful when it’s like this (or not, in our case…)

    Loving Peas and Beans!

Our 4 year old is called Lottie, she can be Charlotte when she’s older if she likes.

    She met another little girl in the playground a while back. I asked said girl what her name was;

    “Constance”

    “That’s a nice name”

    “My Dad calls me Connie”

“Does he call you Conkers as well?”

“Yes, sometimes he calls me Bonkers Conkers too”

    Cracked me up, Constance FTW!
