got one on demo (prt-6). for a long travel bike it climbs like a demon and feels extremely capable on the way down – i'm very impressed with it. very light and capable machine. Where are you based?

    i read your thread.

    its pointless.

    i read another thread

    it was pointless too.

i conclude none of the threads on here have a point.

Andy, the "phenolic" pistons in Avids are well known for having the consistency of caerphilly cheese. usually the lug breaks off meaning the pads fall through the brake.

What do I do next, other than admit defeat and head down the LBS?

never! You only attempt this when it would have been prudent to give up several hours ago, having trashed not only the brake but also a disc mount and £300 worth of tools and kitchen utensils.

juicy pistons are available as a "pressure foot kit" from edinburgh bikes.

    still a tenner though

sorry to deflate the rant – 4/10 though.

I have an Avid bleed kit up for sale if anyone is interested, i'd take £15 posted for it. Includes the syringes and associated gubbins inc manual. Its the only bleed kit i've used that I've felt really works

email if interested nicolai dot uk at gmail dot com

    whats the perks?

didn't like the helo in cod4 – too random whether you got decent kills off it. likewise dogs in 5 was either a bonanza or nothing. dogs were particularly annoying at spawnf*cking you on HC modes.

i sometimes find moving all the time gets you killed lots – you need to assess your opponents. sometimes there are muppets who'll go hell for leather to kill you, so if you sit in place A and kill them, they will go straight back to place A again to get you. Meanwhile you've moved a short distance away to B and placed a betty at A 🙂 They lose a limb of 4 and see you sniggering on the killcam located at B. They'll then try to get you at B, probably by trying to get behind you. Move to A or C and betty B up and continue until they are foaming at the mouth.

IME keep low, sprint where the coast is clear but walk otherwise – you cannot shoot whilst sprinting. dont run across huge open areas (i.e. use cover where available and sprint between) learn the maps and more importantly the spawn zones (stops folk spawning behind you and slotting you straight off) sort your controller options so you can move the sights quickly but not so quickly you have no control. find a gun you like and use it appropriately on the maps (dont use a sniper rifle on a small map unless you are very handy with it)

above all, dont let your emotion get too high otherwise you end up throwing lives away trying to get someone who is better than you, and probably giving them dogs (or new quivalent) which will just waste you more.

    🙂

Curly68, give him the damn game already!

What's the point of starting to play the game when everyone else has leveled up and knows their way around every map?

    Cruel git.

Thats how i've phrased it to the wife – the M-in-L wanted to give me it for christmas as it was a "good present" and I though **** that, so bought it yesterday anyway. wait 45 days to get in on the action? could be on 2nd prestige by then…..

mother in laws are supposed to not like the son in law anyway so i'm just accelerating the process. hoping to fire it up tonight…

25 killstreak is pretty achieveable IMO, the nuke option could become a real pain in the a$$.

Any vehicles in the MP maps?

flying dreams are awesome. I tend to dream that i'm "buzzing" people by swooping down from great heights and skirting the ground before soaring back up. ace feeling.

26 quid from stirling sainsburys this morning. queued for 1/2 an hour as its was only available until 10am. the wife thinks i'm going to hand it over to be given it back on 25/12. in the world of scots where a double positive actually makes a negative… aye, right. 😈

no fair. my mother in law has bagsied it as a christmas present for me. i WILL NOT wait until 25/12 to play this game. at 26 quid i could buy it, play it covertly for a month and sell on for a profit 🙂

ask the seller how he can justify the price tag, given a quick google will reveal the light actually costs 1/2 that. he's obviously done as much reasearch as his potential buyers 🙁

i'd buy the m25 and make it the london equivalent or the nurburgring with a minimum speed and pit stops 🙂

How many "gut instincts" are based on prejudice (say of the North) by people who havent travelled further than Birmingham?

aye, obviously its not fair to judge somewhere if you haven't even been there.

    davidrussell

true, but gut instinct is usually a good indicator. how many times have you been pleasantly surprised byt a rough-looking area?

2 or three sessions of self abuse before you get up seems to help. can prove difficult if you wake up in company, but that just adds to the challenge 🙂
