Its an MTB'ers pipedream which has been talked to death but never done. Reason? Its not commercially viable. Proof? If it was as lucrative as everyone seems to think it would be it would be in place making money right now.

It would serve one purpose – to ferry bikers to the top of a hill to come back down. There is no other commercial aspect of this that would make money and the "tourism" thing is a load of balls. There was a big hoo haa a year or so back when the Glentress visitor figures were announced and it was subsequently noted that the methodology used to calculate visitor numbers was balls. IF GT numbers are inflated then inners is hardly going to outstrip that to make enough money to interest a 3rd party in spending thousands if not millions on a chairlift.

not necessarily advocating their salaries but who are you gonna call if the plane has to make an emergency landing / you have a heart attack on board / the drunk passenger you've been tutting about all day decides to try and nut you mid flight?

I think their position of responsibility is greater than just showing folks to their seats and serving drinks. Now as i've never suffered any of the three scenarios outlined above I can't comment on their ability to deal with said scenarios, but thats another matter.

I'll never forget reading about a girl who got wasted at her office do and thought she'd be sassy and sit at the very front of the bus on the way home, hooking her legs up on the rail at the stairs into the coach. She did, however, (somehow) forget that she wasn't wearing any knickers and the entire coach party got a view they wouldn't forget in a hurry. She never ever set foot in the office again, such was her shame.
