    Turbo mince !!!!!

I'm guessing that was directed at my comment?

regardless of fun had / skill employed / desire to win / fitness, a HT was more suited to the course.

    lol ^

I way way overbiked for the event even on my light 150mm pronghorn full sus and it did nark that the work i did to keep with the hardtail whippets on the climbs was eroded becase i couldn't take advantage of my full sus on the downs, but thats the way it is i guess.

Total respect to the guys doing 11 laps solo though – a few times later on in the race i was passed by guys who looked like they were hardly trying 🙂

Bruneep- play nice. A lot of people who do 10UTB aren't experienced and are doing it just to see what it's like and to make an achievement. Not all have been riding tech stuff for years.

I think on the whole most people did play nice, but it wasn't just the novices mincing.. I dont mind folk walking tech sections – i'd rather they did this than come a cropper, but they need to expect people approaching from behind and be prepared to move quickly – its far easier to stop walking during a tech section than stop riding it.

EDIT – to the OP 3 laps of TUTB on half worn shimano pads – I still have half worn pads left. No visible wear at all. Maybe I just braked less 🙂 or pad clearance is greater. Is there a brake manufacturer who noticeably suffers less than others?

rebuilt the air can with new float fluid and reinflated and seems ok, so will be fine. Any authorised fox service centres going to 10 under? 🙂

nah, was clear almost like a slightly thicker gt85. i suspect the oil has mixed with water to form the foam.

gonna try the air sleeve maint and see what happens…

I one tried to nick a cd-rom off a pc mag in somerfields, and stuck it between the pages of a bike mag. The manageress must have seen me do it (it must have been horrendous to watch this kid subtly trying to rip it off the mag with the sellotape alerting everyone withing 50 yards)and walked over to the till, picked up the mag and lifted the cd out, saying "I dont think that belongs in there, do you?"

Worst thing was I was with my gran who obviously didn't realise was trying to be a wee sh!te and tried to argue the toss. I was beyond mortified. Now I just flick through the bike mags 🙂

notice the token wee hard man escaping from the fracas near the car and scarpering behind the two legged hippo with a white t-shirt on towards the end of the clip.

nobody comes out of that very well, but i'd be surprised if a kick like that didn't land an assault charge, especially as its caught on camera – that sort of thing can cause serious injury if it connects.

i looked at one last year but car tax is horrific for them (top bracket). solid nissan build but beauty is in the eye of the beholder IMO – the newer ones seemed to get progressively uglier. Dont bother with an import model, there should be enough of them out there to take your pick. If fuel prices go up any more i'd reckon you'll see more of them for sale so prices might go down 🙂

Your outlay for the (basic) chainsaw course (NPTC CS 30/31 if i remember right) will be several hundred quid, not including some decent safety gear (another few hundred quid) and a saw (a few hundred quid), so doing it for the hell of it will be an expensive hobby. Then once you've done the basics course you have to do quite a few more courses and tests before you are "qualified"

If you want to go out on your own as a business i'd imagine you need millions of pounds worth of personal and public liability cover too..

s'funny you should mention that DB….

my insurance is up for renewal and I talked to admiral. they had a record of an "incident" in my name back in 2008, and I had no idea what it was (and haven't declared it to my current insurers because I naively didn't think it was relevant). I said I had no recollection of any claim until it dawned on me that was when you tried to get intimate with the clio 😉

I said it was irrelevant because it was on lisa's policy but they stated that incidents stay with the policy if the policyholder is involved, otherwise they are on the driver. I said "well, it doesn't matter because it was a non-fault claim" but lo and behold the b**tards turn round and said to me "statistically if you have been involved in a claim or an incident you are more likely to claim again" I told them that was total b0ll0cks but it affects my premiums on the aggregator sites if i declare it now.

the worst bit is if I add the wife on my car my premium goes up significantly because she has the claim in 2008 (non fault) and another as of Christmas day this year because some stupid **** reversed out of his drive without looking.

I hate insurance companies and the soulless actuaries that work this crap out..

it wont be silence though. there will be crackly interference and inane chatter from your equally bored colleagues, waiting for another meeting where they repress their true feelings on anything simply to nod and agree with the latest corporate blandness and bullshit. all in exchange for an easy life.

at least thats what its like here.
