There is plenty of riding from Builth. We’ve done the MTB marathon there for a few years and had a great time. It helps if you like climbing and fast singletrack as the stuff I’ve done is not super technical. Maybe there is locals only stuff that is more challenging?

For local recommendations you might want to speak to Cycle tec https://www.cycle-tec.co.uk/ They organise the MTB marathon and I believe they also organise a weekly night ride.

Above is our Ventana El Conquistador de Montañas. It’s a relationship accelerator. Wherever your relationship is going, either closer together or further apart, riding a fullsuspension tandem off-road takes you there faster.

We use Pogs. They have both wired and blueTooth versions.

We prefer cables as it requires us to do less and there is no battery to charge. Getting replaceable cables is a good idea if you do choose cabled. The cabled versions link up to allow sharing and have replaceable cables.

So many have been mentioned already. New versions of Yeti arc-x, Trek Stache, Cotic Soul would all be greeted with excitement.

    A couple of others:
Bring back the Trek 69er or Singular Hummingbird – mullet 27.5/29 with short dual crown fork and updated geo

Yeti world cup xc race bike

An affordable/accessible version of Andrew’s Waltworks

A full suspension tandem with modern geo and e-bike components for durability – we’re genuinely looking for this as our 26″ Ventana feels quite old school

Hopefully there’s more demand for the Swift than there is for the Hummingbird. I recently tried to sell a pretty much immaculate frame and forks and had zero interest…

    @Andy-R
: Do let me know if you’re still thinking of selling a Hummingbird. I’ve been looking for one for a while and must have missed your ad!

I recently swapped the Chupacapra(XR2) on the front of my Stache for an XR4. It was quite a revelation. Obviously more grip, but I was then also able to lower the pressure to ~11psi and get even more grip. It felt much more confidence inspiring at Coed y Brenin last week and encourages you to throw the bike about much more.

An XR4 is 1100g, which is not too bad for a 3.0 tyre with big knobbles. I suspect the sidewall is not as tough as a DHF but it seemed a good compromise to me.

    Tempo by davejevons[/url], on Flickr

Condor tempo fixie which replaced a slightly too big kona paddy wagon. Rides nicely and looking to do some Audax next year.

We went this year. It was fantastic! The riding is a little different to the usual alpine stuff – one side of the valley (Carosello lifts) are a lot of easier flow trails, the other (Mottlino lift) is more DH orientated. There are a lot of longer distance natural routes as well and some companies offering guiding. It was hard to tell what was a double track monster from fun riding though. It’s worth researching the riding options before you go depending on what you’re interested in.

This gives you a feel for the Carosello side. The Tutti Fruttie route is 70km of flow trails in a day.

We drove this time, which worked well as a family of four with three bikes.

I’m thinking of selling a Kona Paddy Wagon if you’re interested? Good condition 56cm frame with mostly nice bits. Drop me a line for pics and spec if you’re interested.

This looks like a great idea. Do you (Chris) have a sense of the size (distance or height gain) of the ride to help gauge how well it would work for our 8 yer old and his three speed hub?

Really hope it works out for you as it looks a fun way for adults and kids to ride/race together.

Thanks all. Much appreciated. Will have a go at fixing pictures once I’m on a proper connection. Soo angry about it still. There is a full blown ranty essay in me somewhere.

We were going to ride the Chase as one set of parents are located there but a stiff walk is probably the order of the day now.

Yeah fairly big chain lock. Looks like a big pair of bolt cutters used.

Taken from a quiet cul de sac,, so I suspect scoped and then came back with tools.

It happens a lot in Oxford unfortunately. We’ve lost more bikes than I can remember, as have other local friends. It may well have gone straight in the back of a van rather than stay local.

Having said that drop me an email as I might have seen something similar that was out of context.

According to Dyfi events twitter feed

To those entering the #DyfiEnduro . If you have your WorldPay receipt you don’t need to enter again. Your place is secure.

I managed to get as far as a world pay confirmation but the instructions suggest it’s only confirmed when it returns you to the site, which it didn’t. It’s hard to tell whether to start again or not.

Yep, same issue here. Not good with a wriggly 4 year old on the back. Otherwise it’s great. I keep meaning to find a replacement stand. Any recommendations?

Very glad to hear things likely to end well for Chainline.

Unfortunately the police sometimes use the insurance claim and innocent seller argument to avoid investigating. Two of our stolen bikes have appeared on auction sites and police have been disinterested in recovering them due to the insurance claim. It’s a shame as we would be happy to payback the insurance money to get the bikes back as they were pretty customised.

However, as above they have had distribution issues in the UK and I now can’t get spares for it. The company has been pretty unhelpful in resolving it. Anyone got a spare axle hitch they want to sell?

Quick update: Madison got in touch to say they have the hitch and other spares in stock now. Sounds like things are improving.

Our chariot has been great. Very good for getting out and about when we would have otherwise struggled.

Drivers are generally very good but make sure you have a flag and rear light as they are hard to spot otherwise.

Have been pulling our Chariot trailer on a 42×18 Pompino – It’s pretty tough going and flexes worryingly! Mudguards are definitely required and it’s really handy to have somewhere you can leave waterproofs and some way to carry a decent D-lock.

Just bought a Kona Ute for Dad duties so the Pompino can be returned to winter-fixie mode.

Jamabalya: Top one is Stelvio, bottom one is on Klaussen pass, I think. It was part of a european tour including Route Napoleon and others. Grossglockner and Furka are also good. Stelvio is very impressive but slow and a long way from others.Try here for ideas: http://www.alpineroads.com/

Worth being aware of timing as many roads are closed due to snow even quite late in the year.

I run a G2 for in a non-G2 Gary Fisher Rig. It works fine. A friend said he thought it handled slightly strangely but it’s certainly not going to ruin it unless you’re very fussy.

Orange had a prototype P7 setup as singlespeed but with a Hammerschidt at the front which seemed quite a neat solution to me.

Some googling suggests they tried it on a Sub zero as well: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-unique-strangeorange-sub-zero-frame-with-hammerschmidt-600

My 2nd as first was stolen (I can’t tell the difference pre and post CEN by the way). As others have said it’s a great reference point. Mine’s done an uplift holiday in Italy at Rivera Bike as well as XC racing.

ha! I was about to post asking if anyone knew how he was – no problem. I would have been a bit of an arse if I’d left him. Hope he mends soon.

It was a lovely day for riding. Shame he ended up in an ambulance.

I’ve got both. Never use the overshoes but that’s because I’ve now got winter boots which work for me. The gloves are very windproof and a good ‘chilly but not frozen’ option. They’re much less bulky than my Sealskin winter gloves making gear changing easier but they don’t have the same absolute warmth.

In early 2009, a crack faffing unit was sent to ride in the woods by a kangaroo court for crimes against fashion they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from maximum security office blocks to the Oxfordshire countryside. Today, still wanted by their significant other halves, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can ride with… The DT-Team.

Yep, went out with them 18 months ago. Very good. Accommodation was fantastic, trails lots of fun but very challenging. Head honcho posts on here as Nasher, I think.
