Do a python tutorial on methods, classes and objects, there will be loads of them and one will click with you.

Methods, like functions in some languages, a group of statements designed to do something, you call the method each time you want to do the thing, eg calculate_mpg(miles, fuel_used)

Classes, a group of methods and property definitions, to group related operations and attributes. Heartbeat class contains a property called pulse, methods called set_pulse, get_pulse, calcFitness

Object, an actual instance of that class, you an have a bunch of objects, like Doctor Who would have 2 heartbeat objects perhaps.

Create an object of classHeartbeat:

Heartbeat myHeartbeat = Heartbeat()

call a method on the object:

myHeartbeat.set_pulse(120)

this is the tip of the iceberg but I’d say it’s the bare minimum to get started.

I’ve got 3 under 6. What is hard is learning to control your own mood, lowering your expectation of your own personal gratification and get used to dedicating 99% of your energy and thought to the other people in your life, particularly if you spent your 20s riding up and down mountains.
I find not trying to achieve too much other than family stuff is a key too.

I thought about a bread maker then someone bought me “Brilliant Bread” by James Morton.
Each recipe has time spent in kitchen (typically 15 mins for most recipes) and time proving which is variable to fit in with your day. A couple of months on and I bake various reliable sourdough loaves twice weekly. Ingredients just flour (different types depending on what I fancy), water and salt, that’s it. The loaves keep really well and also freeze well. A thread on piston heads about home baking sourdough got me interested to start with.
