I’m looking forward to a yes vote, then we can get on with the time zone change, getting in more evening cycling/drinking time in the sun :-)

Think I have got it, it’s a race. Might be round a field, might be timed down but not up. Either way its on a bike :-)
Oh, and there is some marketing for some enduro specific bike related stuff, but who knows what sort of style that is aimed at…still, roll the Garrick autumn and winter series :-)

So.. with the oil then.. isn’t it being extracted by private companies? What revenue does the govt get? And surely some of the companies involved with extraction and refining are British?

The government gets lots of tax on the oil… after the cost of extraction is removed from the barrel price, governments get up to 95% of the remaining profit on a barrel depending on what was agreed at the time of the production license was granted. In some parts of the world e.g. iraq the private companies are just paid a flat rate of a couple of dollars for each barrel they produce, with all the oil going direct to the government. I don’t know the UK figures, but I do know the Norwegians have a flat 75% tax rate on the barrel price (after extraction deductions).

It does amuse me when people keep on going on about the profits the oil companies make… but its a pittance compared with the various governments takes!

iS would have to renegotiate all the productions contracts I would guess ? But I would imagine that they would probably just rubber stamp all the ones currently in place.

Did that twice when living in The Hague… Thought I was so clever using a mountain bike in the city as the tyres would not fit down the grooves, but forgot about the wider bits on points…. And the other time I forgot I was riding a mates bike, with the thinner tyres…. That time I needed to get a new wheel :-(

We do… pay a little bit in, and if you remember/can be bothered to fill in a very very simple form, get a lot more back…
cons…. not remembering… losing receipts… and lastly, not bothering to fill out a very very simple form…

They make their money by people not being bothered to claim…

Got my first 29er about two months ago… I think its the dogs bollocks, but then again it did cost 4 times as much as my 26er. And If strata was anything to go by, then it’s still the dogs bollocks… Smashing times up, down, sideways, tech or non tech… However I thinks is probably more to do with better geometry… So only one real solution test ride if at all possible…

There was a great programme on the House of Lords recently, basically saying they were good for the country because they lacked ‘party’ political affiliation, leaving them free to approve or discredit ideas on merit*.

voting for the house of lords would be a disaster, we already have a bunch to self serving politicians only looking after their own career… Salmond included…
Anyway, back to Scotland… good luck, go independent, cos if you don’t there will only be continued whining about it…

We have a huge climbing frame, and a huge trampoline… The trampoline is used at least three times as much as the climbing frame… But my kids (4 and 5 year old girls) use both… a lot! And the wife uses the trampoline after a few beers :-)
Would not have got either with out ebay though…

    taking home 40% more

If he really is ‘taking home’ about 40% more that you he’s doing well…
But for a contractor, not massively….
I looked at the figures once, and I reckon I needed the gross figure to be almost double to get the same take home pay after all the ‘hidden’ bits are taken into account i.e.

holidays paid, a company car, sick pay, bonus, healthcare, pension

as well as NI, paying for my own training, paying for an accountant etc etc

Our kids have been camping since about 11 months old… Great memories of holding smallest one by the hands while she was learning to walk and chasing some ducks round a field at a Campsite near a pub in Devon…
Keep them warm, they will have a great time… We have an Outwell tent bought from ebay, and we all survived the last weekend at erlestoke :-)
Get a tent with a carpet, makes a big difference… Definitely need a big space inside, and we also find a gazebo/event shelter also makes a difference on the rainy days!

You went out first, did a lap in just over an hour,(taking an hour off your time, as that’s the elapsed time from the 12 hour start) then went out again for the teams 4th lap, in nearly 1 hour 10. You did two laps. From the line above yours, the extra number is the teams finishing place of 2nd.

Of course you should leave her. Your obviously a bad influence on a 3 year old child. And it sounds like she is using her democratic right to voice a (hopefully) protest vote, which is more that at least 60% of the population are going to do. That should be supported…

    No, simple answer.

    From wikipedia…

Various classes and uses of vehicle are provided with a tax disc without charge. These include: electrically propelled vehicles, vehicles constructed before 1974, trams, vehicles which cannot convey people, police vehicles, fire engines, ambulances and health service vehicles, mine rescue vehicles, lifeboat vehicles, certain road construction and maintenance vehicles, vehicles for disabled people, certain agricultural and land maintenance vehicles, road gritters and snow ploughs, vehicles undergoing statutory tests, vehicles imported by members of foreign armed forces, and crown vehicles.[11] It should be noted that although police vehicles are in fact crown vehicles and therefore exempt from the requirement for a tax disc, they generally display them regardless to suppress complaints from members of the public who might be stopped for failure to display a valid tax disc on their own vehicle, and thus make accusations of double-standards, no matter the lack of merit.

Next time some one tells you you should not be on the road as you don’t have a ‘tax disc’ ‘smack them good and proper’ (see thread on using bicycle as a shield), then tell them that the police and ambulance cannot come to them as they don’t have a tax disc either…. :-)
