Backs up what I already thought. I’m going for glass. Having a solid roof’s not an option. The woodstove is one of these or similar Jotul woodstoves[/url] Freestanding with a lum built up in place of one or two of the glazed sections. The flu hasn’t been fully thought out, but I think it’s going to exit the rear of the stove at 45 deg then into the liner & up to the flu terminal.

Having cake & eating it springs to mind !

The deposit’s yours. I see no dilema. The deposit’s raison d’etre is to secure the sale. He’s defaulted on the deal.

As for giving it back after you find another buyer ? I’m having more difficulty with that than simply giving him the deposit back in the first place.

Have a look on Fleabay. Not from the point of making a purchase, but it’ll give you a good idea of what’s available at your price point. Your budget’s important as this will dictate a lotof what you can & can’t have. If you’re buying a factory built van IE not a conversion, don’t worry too much about which base vehicle it’s built around. They tend to do low mileages & be well looked after. If you’re spending a couple of bob invest in a damp meter & take it with you when you go to view. Use it to check around all the apertures cut through the vehicles skin. Damp can be a huge & costly problem.

There’s a show on at the NEC if February & it’s worth a look to see exactly what sort of options you can have. It will help you narrow down the things you “need” & the nice to have’s. There’s only a couple of options for transporting bikes. Either a rack mounted on the back or a garage. If you opt for a rack, invest in some good locks & a full cover for the bikes with a lockable drawstring through the base. Bikes get clarty (& nicked)if left exposed.

    Picture taken at Laggan.

I can get 4 big bikes plus my little lads bike in the garage above & still have a bit of room for the gear. If you could be more specific about what you’re intending to buy I may be able to give you a few pointers.

It’s titanium nitride I believe 8O The benefits are well understood & proven in other applications. It’s micro porous & retains the lubricant better. I’m convinced of this  as I’ve got the Talas 36’s on a new SC Butcher. Regular maintenance is essential with Fox forks :( to keep them alive. Why this should be ?……Every other brand seems to last the course without the faf of lifting the seals & cleaning/lubricating the foam rings.

Not a current speciality but one from the past. I would definitely agree that your crack is at present freely propogating through the parent metal. It’s growing at a point of obvious stress & probably not all of the crack is visible. Continued flexing & stress will make the crack longer & more prominent….if ignored, to the point of failure of the top tube. Surface breaking defects like this are relatively common on highly stressed triangulated structures. IE nodal areas on oil platforms.

Can it be fixed ? definitely. But you then have to ask yourself, is it worth the outlay of doing the job properly & having the frame re painted. Then monitoring the area for subsequent signs of failure in the heat affected zones of the new weld.

Sorry to drone on….I’d be looking for another frame

Forgot to mention about the lack of bolt thru rear axle. I’ve been using a standard quick release axle on my Norco since 2005. I weigh 14 stone & the bike 40 = lbs 8O Im 48 & a fairly comservative rider, but I’ve not held back from going over drops or step downs & it’s never been an issue for me. Only time will tell.

Iniial impressions are that for a 30 lb bike it climbs better than I thought it would. One of my riding buddies commented how little pedal bob he noticed (whilst riding behind me :-)) on his Blur & commented on how good the Propedal setting on the shock was working. Well, I was’nt using the propedal & can’t see me having to. There seems to be quite a lot of anti-squat built into the rear geometry IE high, forward single pivot. I also use the Talas mech for the steep bits. It does make a difference I’d not be without it. It’s never going to keep up with a lighter more XC oriented bike on the up’s but once you crest the summit & start decending the other side of its character comes out. It’s got a slightly slacker head angle than the Heckler & is confidence insiring on decents.

I too thought about buying a Bullit, but probably too much (of a gravity) bike for my kind of riding. I bought this for using at Scottish trail centres & the odd all day epic. I could have reduced the weight a bit by altering the spec but could’nt resist the Fox 36’s :D They’re still breaking in & not quite as plush as the floats but a massive step up in rigididty from my old Bombers.

I don’t think anyone’s who’s dropped this amont on a bike is going to give it a slagging, but I’m genuinely chuffed.

I bought it through Stif, who I have to add were great.

Can someone tell me what the difference is between fags bought over the counter & the peasant fags that you make yourself ?

Apologies for the bone question, but i’ve never smoked a fag in my life.

Hmm…I had the opposite problem. Failed to phone the insurance company to renew as I’d found a better deal elsewhere. They very kindly renewed without my permission & carried on taking the dosh. When I noticed this after a couple of months they point blank refused to refund any of my premium, unless I could provide eveidence I’d been insured elsewhere.

They’re making this up as they go along….Grrrrrr

If it’s anything like the previous game/s of C.o.D it’s because of the violence, gore & swearing. Some of the language from the other players is a little fruity as well. Judging by the previous games I’d say not suitable IMVHO.

Just back from Lanzarote & I didn’t see any decent MTB’s of any description. The hire bikes I saw personally were universally bad, most of them creaking & groaning from zero maintenance. There are a few good bike shops over there though, one of them http://www.probikelanzarote.com/ was full of good roadie kit. It might be worth giving him a call for a heads-up on what’s available with regards to MTB’s. I tried speaking to him in my pigeon Spanish por favor……but he’s a brit !

Yes, I know it’s a Norwegian forecast but it also covers the UK. Works for me.
