+1 for Henry’s. Hendra in Nequay is great for the kids. plenty to keep them occupied day and night but not as commercial/over the top/money grabbing as Butlins/Haven etc.

It’s being taken over by Skyline bikes and is due to open sometime this month. How much a bike shop knows about running a cafe we’ll have to wait and see!

Nothing mega exciting but I’m hoping my new baggies will fall through the letterbox today.

As you say you’ve done a few events last year and you’re a regular rider I’d assume you’re at a decent level of fitness.

IMO the biggest issue for doing 12 or 24 hours is the boredom. I mean, I love being out on the bike and I’ll be at bikefest in a 4 man team but riding the same trail again and again for 12 hours?

Whyte’s is the best trail there (IMO) but W2 gives you more riding and the best of both worlds. I reccomend starting from Glyncorrwg as you get the whyte’s ascent out of the way 1st. There’s an option for snacks and a brew at Bryn Bettws Lodge just before the zig zags descent, saves you going out of the way to get to Afan Forest Centre. Also, if you’ve got a bit of post ride time to kill, there’s a superb curry house in Port Talbot called Agni.

Never done any riding there myself but I reckon you can’t go wrong with any of the canary islands. Volcanic mountains, good weather and loads of cheap deals.

Well I’ve just come back from my first ride with the new helmet and I’m happy. Sure another helmet may have better ventilation but mine’s ok and it’s better than my old lid that I paid £45 for 3 years ago. I reckon the important things are fit and comfort and it’s fine in both those areas. I guess there’s only one way to really test how good a helmet is, here’s hoping I don’t find out.

For those that are wondering it’s a specialized align. Now, what to spend the £40 pound I saved on…….Hmm!

Best advice is get a tiler in.

It is possible to tile over old tiles but if your mrs is anything like mine she’ll want the posh new tiles up to about 2ft square and about 10mm thick, this’ll cause you all sorts of problems.

    Called tap revivers/tap restorers.

Like has been said above, you may find the splines of a new reviver are a different size or the stem is longer, so you’d be best of buying a reviver with a tap head included. Plumbase are the cheapest near me

They’re actually called tap valves. you can buy a tap reviver kit which is the valve plus the tap head.

Previous posts are correct in saying the splines may be different, there are literally thousands of different styles and sizes of valve. Take the valve and your tap head to a proper plumber’s merchant (not B&Q, Homebase etc.) and they’ll find you a match. You should also make sure the screw fits into the top of the new valve.

Something similar happened to me when I was out with my 4 year old daughter. to be honest I dealt with it there and then, got the guy to apologise to me and my daughter and left it at that. If unable to deal with it at the time I’d have gone back the next day to sort it.

I’m assuming the people who think it’s not a big deal don’t have kids. In the grand scheme of things they may be right, it may not be a big deal. thing is I try my hardest to bring my kids up to be decent human beings and to treat everyone with respect. there are just some situations that such behaviour isn’t acceptable. Like it or not we’re all role models for the younger generation.
