try and compress the fork a little whilst turning the foot nut, it’ll allow the damper or air spring shaft to bite on the lowers and you’ll be done

just get it chased out, removes all doubt and makes the job a piece of piss. if its rusty now, it’ll only get worse so next time you replace a bb it’ll be a pain again. Do it right now and save yourself more hassle.

mine turned up a week ago. seems legit, took a good 3-4 weeks to arrive tho.

Anyone know how to turn the screen off during recording?

I have a Soleus Pulse GPS watch. great for running and general sports where you don’t use your hands.

UTTERLY CRAP for riding. moving hand positions, even tightening your grip on the bars means it reads your pulse wrong.

    example:
On the cross bike, riding on the hoods, pulse at a steady 130bpm, move hands to the drops, pulse rate drops to 80bpm and i never managed to get it to read higher than 145bpm on the bike.
My chest strap garmin would show 160-180bpm for the same efforts.

Even the manufacturer said it won’t work for cycling and a chest strap is better when i contacted them.
I can dig the email out if you like?

Shame as chest straps are uncomfortable for the most part (well, Garmin ones are, my polar replacement strap is fine)

erm, is it just me or have they got totally the wrong idea..

“The uneven surfaces of off-road biking encourage riders to remove their suspension systems to cut down on weight, leading to more control but also greater discomfort”

I live in Bletchingley, 20 mins to East Grinstead down the A22 and 35-40 mins to the surrey hills on the A25.

    Easy Peasy

There’s also Bedgebury forest, Tilgate, South downs aren’t too far away and the North downs are on my doorstep (literally)

    nope.

you’d still need an 11 speed mech, new wheels/freehub that can take the wider road 11 speed spacing and a shifter.

    So no, not cheap.

get some five10 freerider VXi elements, much less clunky than the older style five10s and beyond grippy

when i briefly had X01, i really missed the double upshift of XT/XTR, that’s a really annoying problem for me, get to the top of the hill in 1st, then click click click click click click click click click click all the way to top. got very boring very quickly.

still, it all fell apart not long after that, as most SRAM stuff does, so i didn’t have to bear it for too long!

Flog it, mix and match XT cassette to XTR mech and shifter, relish in smoother shifting and cheap cassettes.

so long as you don’t come off, stay calm and relish the fact that you have annoyed them that much, they will be more annoyed than you.

ridden the 14x a mate owns and I own the 15x. both are utterly UTTERLY brilliant. not the lightest, but some of the best bikes out there for fun.

i find my 105 11 speed to be fine, however, my 10 speed XT stuff also has issues on the lowest 3 cogs, but only when its wet and a bit gritty. just seems to be one of those things.

gears are flawless in anything other than wet and mud

you might be lucky and never have a creak, both sets i have had developed a creak between 2 and 6 months old and required new crowns. conversely to internet wisdom, my 2013 Floats performed much better than my 2014 floats.
I had the 2014 ones repaired with a new crown and sold them (which did take a while) bought Pikes and could not believe the difference in performance, night and day better.

simpler route would have been get them fixed under warranty, flog them and buy pikes.

As mentioned higher up, wait till the crown goes… CREAAAAKK!

I use Rudy Project Zyons with their photochromic Imact-X lenses and prescription RX inserts. 3 years so far and they remain virtually scratch free and they are used in all sorts of shitty conditions.
Yeah, they steam up a bit but id rather that than losing an eye.
When it comes to glasses, you really do get what you pay for.

@alanf, have your tried something like what i use? you can adjust the arms in any direction, same with the nose bridge, you should be able to get something that doesn’t give you a headache then.

Mavic Crossmax Charge out front. Unbelievably good and works in pretty much all conditions.

    not really “living” then

Seriously don’t understand people who don’t use glasses. I know i’m forced to nowadays due to rubbish eyesight, but even when i didn’t need those, i wore glasses for riding. Eyes don’t grow back!

Had the same with Arch EX’s as well, multiple different tyres, Mavic crossmax Roam, Onza Ibex and Onza Canis and a Conti X King. ALL blew off at varying pressures, more than once.

never had an issue with other rims, so bought new rims and surprise surprise, no more issues!

Building it with a mate who has his own machine shop and “NEARLY” every type of welder going

    that looks ace!

Design is done, jig is in hand, as are dropout etc.
Building it with a mate who has his own machine shop and every type of welder going, probably Tig welding it up for the most part.

I’ll checkout ceeway. thanks for the pointer in that direction.

Its going to be a long project, so don’t expect to see anything till next year!!

basically he same as nylok nut, stops the bolt unscrewing. You can use threadlock if it won’t go back

Used both, get the 6 pack. The R8 was one of the most disappointing lights I’ve ever used. Mount is terrible, the light unit wobbles so much you can feel it through the bars. And it doesn’t give out that much light surprisingly.

Another vote for going for the diablo, yeah, run time on flat out is around an hour, but if you cycle it to lower settings its still plenty bright and lasts for ages.

Had the Spanks, bearings went in one ride. otherwise awesome feeling pedal.

have you considered the Specialized Boomslang?

get the MJ872 from Magicshine. nearly as good as the Hope R8 in my back to back testing.

Another vote for the turbines, ace cranks and the ability to fine tune your chainline beyond adding/removing spacers behind the bb shell, which is handy for running 1 x 10/11

    daver27
    Free Member

Do it. if its wearing out the outside edge of the ring, you’re chainline is way out. remember, the “1 spacer behind the driveside cup” is to optimise the chainline for use with multiple chainrings. if you have clearance between chainstay and the ring, go for it.

done Everything apart from Skyline in one day (as Skyline was shut), easy, even looped around a few of the more fun ones for another run.
