  • No, not me. I was there a few weeks ago and as usual didn’t have time to do all the favourites. Planning to be back there next Sunday.

Thanks, I’ll seek it out next week.

I haven’t been to one since Future Publishing (MBUK) ran it at the NEC about 15 years ago.

Search for Trailscorcher on Facebook and send a message. I do pukka LG 3500s in a 4 cell pack, all balanced, protected and with an extra fuse in case all else fails.

    Yeah, thanks for your entry.

For general info (and as I mentioned in the email) entrants can park their T5 or pitch up on site the night before. No facilities though, but there is a pub in the village.

Online entries close Fri night but you can still enter on the day.

There is a new blue on the Commencal trail down to the bottom. It is absolutely fantastic.

The original trail is now walkers only.

The new red is very rocky and intense.

I never use motorway services. My tip for driving up the M6 is to come off at the A580 Liverpool junction and there’s a Shell on the roundabout with petrol at sensible prices and all the sandwiches and Jaffa Cakes you need.

Yes cross bike should be OK but might be a push on one or two sandy climbs.

Yes, yes and between 3000 and 4000 feet. Exact route subject to a recce as some tracks may be too sandy to climb (yes, really). We don’t surcharge on the day, but T shirts are reserved for pre paid and there is £3 to pay if we run out in your size.

Only a month away. Different route to the others we’ve done since 2013.

I’m using a mix of Stans Race and Joe’s. The Stans seals the bigger punctures and the Joe’s stops the mix drying out.

They can’t cope with anything without a USB socket.

Is the ebike version an eeTap?

I tend to avoid arguments by going straight to the sweary bit.

“What’s the total elevation gain, time and distance for that Swinley ride Dave?”

    1900 feet.

As for erosion, it looked exactly the same at the end of the session as it did at the start.

No worse than a fat bloke locking up the back wheel of a hardtail 🙂

This is when I went to Swinley and spent the whole time just doing the Labyrinth trails and the other off piste over and over again. No way could I do all the climbing back up so many times on anything other than the ebike.

It’s marked as a blue, but in reality its green graded for families on Halfords Apollos. Have a look at https://www.trailforks.com/region/moors-valley-country-park-6764/ and try the unofficial downhill runs near the Watchmoor Wood pump track. There’s also some secret trails such as Naughty Step and Kinky Tree but will take some finding.

I park in Bagshot (College Ride) where the road ends. Short 5 minute pedal past the big radio mast and you’re at the top of the Labyrinth area.

I can see four Jehovas Witnesses standing on the corner of the road getting ready to do the rounds yet again.

    So Q594 is wrong then?

NSL is either 50, 60, or 70 depending on the type of road and what you’re driving. If you’re not in a NSL area, you will have passed a sign that says 20,30,40,50 or 60. Perfectly simple and nothing to do with street lights.

    Now prove me wrong….

Remember the national speed limit also depends on the weather conditions.

It might do in France but not in UK.

The best thing about these is that you can buy the four smallest sprockets as a replacement. £35 against £175 for a new unit.
The worst thing is that it creaks annoyingly. A known problem which is why you get a little tube of grease with the above replacememt.

    What tyres for BPW?

    Black Disposable overshoes
For £1.79 who cares what others think in the wet and mud.

This route I put together years ago
It has been ‘copied’ as the Chalk Ridge Extreme but trust me that’s the wrong direction!

    Telegram? Oh hang on….

A robin has been saved at Christmas. A fox has had enough frest meat to last a few days. Good result all round.

The other one is the pop up that says we’ve detected porn on your computer, dial 1-800-…. or else.

Ad blocker is essential on these or you get swamped by a dozen casino, betting, get rich quick type pages.

It’s fake. I had one of these from a download site and nearly had to restart my PC to get rid of it.

Anti cycling rant on Room 101

Bicycle? How did you manage that?

In Germany they actually do that for a fine over 45 Euro. Thank God for Brexit.

Why not just alter your numberplate slightly with a bit of black tape e.g F becomes E. Their ANPR won’t work as they don’t have immediate DVLA database access.

My old Karrimor kit lasted ages. Guess the latest stuff is Chinese sweatshop badged.

I’ve got a 9 LED lamp head (Cree XML2) that works up to 18V. Brand new never used for £50

I’ve got the speedgrip 2.8 on the front and it’s more than adequate for any of my riding. Plenty enough for BPW I reckon.

Stans Race plugs the biggest holes but dries out in a couple of months and leaves a mess stuck to the innards.
Tried Peaty’s which doesn’t dry out but doesn’t plug anything larger than a thorn.

So I’m trying a 50:50 mix in the vain hope I’ll get the best of both worlds.

If only Chris King did sealant……

    ….and Swinley

The last bit of the red with the berms is super slippery as the frost collects in that bit of hollow.
