I have the TaoTronics as above, they sound fine & work ok.

From my memory of similar a number of years ago, it’ll be a relatively secure compound and they shouldn’t have touched anything inside it.

For what it’s worth…. In a previous difficult to ventilate bathroom I used a Zinser base paint of some type, under the bathroom emulsion & never had any problems with it after that – a previous basic emulsion only lasted just a few months above the shower area before peeling.

FWIW, they can & do interfere with the mobile networks, I know of one EMC test house that assisted O2 finding the cause of a very localised network issue in the Midlands, turned out a corner shop was using one & It was knackering the signal between the O2 transmitter and it’s location.

Toms, Homeys, or North Face padded ones if you want your feet to be hotter than the sun!

Ham Hill Cider is based at Drayton, I think the Prince of Wales (on Ham Hill) sell it but would probably suggest buying from the Trading Post at Lopen Head (also pop into Pips Railway Carriage for the best food you’ll ever taste!!), or Brimsmore Garden Center on the edge of Yeovil.

    * Now wondering if you’re local in the area like me?!

I saw someone with one recently, it went up well but seemed a bit of a faff to put away.  They were massively hungover though so that probably slowed them down a lot!

For a supermarket mass-produced option, Westons Vintage is pretty decent, as is Morrisons Vintage.

Lots of people round here would say Lilleys Cider sell some of the best, and they sell online too. https://www.lilleyscider.co.uk/  The ‘Crazy Goat’ is ace!

Ham Hill Early Drop ( http://hamhillcider.co.uk/ ) is fantastic – one of my favourites.

Harry’s Cider also have some lush ones – but i’m local so biased. ( https://www.harryscidercompany.co.uk )

These aren’t [just] MCWCB recommendations – they’re excellent Somerset ciders!

Higher State (sportsshoes.com) do some good budget ones. I have these; https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/hst1070/higher-state-trail-5-inch-race-short/ and they’re fine. Rear pocket fits my S8 ok without being too big.

On the way to Toulon (down the coast from Nice) we stopped in Troyes, by a hotel next to their cinema/restaurant complex was decent & might be on your route.

Uist has some nice beaches, Lochmaddy Hotel is the best I’ve found when i visit for work.  The riding would pretty much only be worth keeping to the road though IIRC.

The price you had to do it is a bit steep, but I had similar done to replace some bodged pulrin & rafters by previous owner after removal of a skylight.

They had to bring the timber up outside via scaffolding then too, so that’s true at least.

I saw similar on a motorhome, got the guy to give me an address so I could view it – he seemed surprised that I wouldn’t give a deposit beforehand sight unseen! Funny old thing, the house in the ads wasn’t the one where it was apparently stored…

Better to have a good whinge & get it out in the open though rather than trying to bottle it up though dude.

I have a mammoth performance 25, it’s a little firmer than the one we tried in the shop which is disappointing, but is still very nice & i’d recommend if you suffer from back issues, etc.

Just wear socks with a wool content, Inov8, Hilly & More Mile all make some for reasonable prices.

You might have got lucky, just tried for myself, apparently nothing available in all local-ish stores.

We got a Mammoth brand version of the Tempur, and they permit a discount on the grounds of certain ailments/disabilities. It’s nice, but a tiny bit too firm for my preference, whereas the shop’s model we tried seemed perfect. It had been in the window catching the sun for a year, perhaps it had softened up – ours hasn’t in 18months though which is disappointing given the cost. :-(

Can I just double-check what the OP said; A 0.25% reduction in the mortgage interest rate saves you approx £500 per month? That seems to be a massive saving on a small change doesn’t it? Or are you borrowing a mil or so?!

We have a 5yr old Hoover Infinity condenser (DYC893B), i’d recommend this system TBH – the water container clips to the rear of the door, easy to remove when it gets near the max. level line.
Also has a simple recessed filter pocket & the lower condensation container rarely needs emptying/cleaning.
It’s auto-sensing but we can easily manipulate the programme so we don’t cook the laundry or get it out just before it’s baked to iron stuff (if needed).
I’ve had to replace the intake fan but the replacement was a better design to be fair so won’t have the same problem again.

You need a decent signal to start with, it can’t replace what’s not missing. We’ve got one in the loft from the internal loft aerial, feeding a few aerial sockets but it still cacks out on certain channels.
I blame the cheapskate previous owners for doing that instead of just putting an aerial on the chimney and using a proper masthead amplifier & dist. box. Our old house had that and it was great in comparison.

Don’t try to swap inlet side, it’s too much work for no return.
I’ve got a Mira Sport 9kW, it’s fine. The airboost function is too noisy to use all the time IMO. I wanted the higher power one but the cable was only 6mm CSA, and the water pressure/flow not up to serving it well enough.

    I think it’s brilliantly bonkers!
My name also hopefully on the tailfin in a minute font…

For anyone interested, Richard Noble’s podcast with Motorsport Magazine is a great listen, the lengths they have to go to beggars belief.
For example, they found that the tide up the river Severn was affecting their laser geometry setup by a mm or two.

I have an old screwfix branded one, useless for finding studs but fairly reliable for finding pipes, screws & wires – better if in use carrying a current at the time.
Probably accurate to a couple of inches sometimes, but the size of the device hampers anything better.

I have a smaller size Samsung Galaxy Tab S, which replaced my Nexus 7. Although I still don’t like the Samsung UI, the device is otherwise excellent – if you can pick one up cheap get that IMO.

For reference, I have just paid approx £500 for supply & fit of a new normal/basic MK distribution unit. There weren’t any problems with circuits though so it was a simple job. That’s in Somerset.

For our place in the end I spoke to a carpenter I trusted, he pointed me in the direction of a woodwork shop he trusted & then he fitted them for me.
I also suffered with posh wooden window manufacturers not getting back to me, presumably 9 normal softwood sash windows wasn’t a big enough job for them!

I’ve got a nice wet.dry Panasonic one, works ok – but at £30+ for a foil & cutter each ~9months i’d prefer one that works well but is also cheaper to keep running. I hate having thick hedgerow for stubble!

Is there more damage than the obvious dents in that photo?

As above – it now has added character, no way would I be thinking about getting rid of it in her situation!

Clean with meths / Isopropyl alcohol, polish with Brasso (or similar), spray with clear car paint lacquer.
I did that with one homemade curtain rail, and the other I left just Brasso’d as the lacuqer chips/gets rubbed off and starts looking crap whereas it’s just a few minutes to polish up if needed.

Burnbake is nice & as mentioned has routes to/from Studland beaches. Does get busy & people hog space as it’s unmarked pitches. There is a normal field out of the wooded bit though. No pub within walking distance.
Eweleaze is fine, but fancy onsite shop(s), lots of ‘earth-mothers’ and many many free-range children (which can be a bit amusing to be fair). Pub is walking distance along narrow windy coast path but gets v. busy – Shortlake might be better for what you’ve asked for.
Seatown Golden Cap is also decent & the pub there’s pretty good too.

GS comes to best part of £10k or so I think, but we don’t have good enough garden access/space to do it

    dave_rudabar

Intriguing… I hadn’t though about the heat recovery systems… I think GS is outside my budget, unsure how PV will work with this dual-meter nonsense but will look into it once we move. The roof faces south-south-west so should be ideal for it.

All, thanks for the info, much appreciated.
EPC online just rated as lower E band, unsuprisingly. I’m guesstimating about £6k for gas pipe street-work & gas boiler fitting.
Going to ask to see last 6months bills to see if the vendors fibbed about how much it costs to run. Not a deal-breaker but need to plan renovation budget.

I had a house with electric boilers on E10. It cost me on average £300 pcm to run. ….

    What the actual ****?!?!
I’m thinking about asking to see their previous 6months bills to make sure they aren’t trying to dupe us!
They reckoned approx. £100 pcm & claimed the house is well insulated, etc. blah blah…. It’s probably not a deal breaker, but now i’m thinking about it…

We probably could fit oil at the end of the garden, but I think i’d rather not rely on that for the future.
