    <pedant>

    It’s Total LHM, not Citroën.

Citroën specify it for use on their hydropneumatic cars, as do (as mentioned above) Rolls Royce, along with Bentley and Mercedes.

And it’s Citroën, or at a push Citroen, but not Citreon.

(And the Halfords LHM does seem as good as the ‘real’ Total stuff)

Used LHM for years with no issues at all. In Citroëns and on Shimano brakes.

As it happens, Citroën even recommend using mineral engine oil in an emergency (I’ve done it) and just flush and refill with LHM once the leak is fixed

If LHM has the heat capacity to deal with a 2-plus tonne car braking from 100mph, whilst also maintaining the correct viscosity to keep the struts operating, and the power steering then I reckon it can manage the abuse in a mountain bike.

    Still showing as private.

    Can you view my profile?

As for the “starvation mode” thing – I’ve read that on the MFP site, but I’ve honestly no idea if that’s bad science or not.

So far my weight loss has been stop-start, seeming to stall at various points. Maybe this is me over-ding the under-eating (!) and starvation mode setting in. I’ve not really analysed it too closely TBH. Seems to start off again when I make a good effort on the extra exercise for a few days in a row.

Hi Ton, Thanks for the friend accept – but your profile is still coming up as private. Have a look under “My Home – Settings – Profile Privacy Settings” on the MFP webpage.

Am looking forward to the journey home.

The new version makes me more obese.

I’ll now have to be 59k to be normal, previously I could be 62k.

    28.6mpg according to Fuelly

I must stick in my refurbished injectors and check the tappets, just to see if they make a difference.

    dave_aber

Having said that, the benefits outweigh the fuel cost, for me and the mileage I do at least.

30mpg? IME you’ll be doing well to get over 25.

Maybe my right foot is a bit heavy. I’m not one for hanging about. And mine’s a converted camper, with kitchen, water, etc (and a full drinks cabinet!).

Trying hard I think I managed about 27mpg once.

Kushi’s curry place, just opened up at the top end of Leith Walk / Elm Row area. Proper Scottish food (curry), and not your usual spicy stew you get everywhere else, proper curry.

Don’t be tempted by the B&Q cheapo set of 5 MR11 sized 12v ones. £20 for a set.

    These

Really crap. MR11 bulbs are so small, they don’t really kick out much light @ 20W each. They pop all the time, and to add insult to injury B&Q don’t stock MR11 bulbs! (At least that means I have to buy them in bulk, online, cheap!)

Wow. Someone paid £700 for that eBay one!

Never ceases to amaze me how much people will spend on VWs. I know they are all kewl and that, but £700 for something that’s almost 100% rust?

I saved money on cheap lights and they have been a pain

So did I. B&Q Cheap 12v 20w 5-pack ones. They use the tiny MR11 bulbs, and not only did I end up fitting 4 packs worth to get enough light for a 6m x 3m room. (Yes, 20 bulbs, 400w) they burn out all the time. I’m forever changing them.

Apart from that my design is rather spot on for us.

    This week I’ve been trying the following method;

“Colin, stick an egg on for us please mate”

And every morning, Colin (my chef) has provided me with a perfect poached oeuf.

I’ll be fecked when I get home tomorrow though – might try some of the suggestions above.

    ^ Indeed.

she needs her father regardless of what has gone on between you and her mother.

That’s the first post in this whole sorry tale which even mentions what is best for the bairn. It might not be true (i.e. She might not need her father), but at least it mentions her needs!

Get over the battle with your Ex, and BOTH of you HONESTLY consider what is best for HER.

Clue – She’s not a prize in this ‘competition’

    Shimano’s Words

Looking at the Shimano bleeding guide, it is pretty comprehensive. It’s basically a back-bleed using a syringe into an upper catch tank (the “funnel”), followed by a gravity bleed into a bag, followed by a ‘conventional’ pressure bleed of the caliper using the lever/master as the pressure source, followed by a final reverse gravity bleed of the reservoir, and a neat clean removal of the catch tank.

You can do all of this without the funnel, but it won’t be as clean.

In most hydraulic breaking systems it isn’t so important to get all of the air out of the reservoir – every road car / road motorbike reservoir has air in it (at the top). For this application though, where excessive vibration could lead to any air in teh reservoir getting mixed with the fluid, then introduced into the pressure line it is desirable to get all of the air out eventually during the bleed.

You could do all of this with just a large syringe though, and some rags to clean up any overspill.

I think the fact that the OP’s wife specifically wants an iPad means she’s not going to be interested in a second-rate knock-off running an OS that’s vulnerable to malware, and needs considerable knowledge to keep up to date with updates.

Best just get her a new iRon then.

Bad choice, very bad choice. The riding around Wrexham is nowhere near as good as the Scottish Highlands.

Shhhh… Don’t let that get out

    dave_aber

considering the quality of xc riding in the scottish highlands, and the beauty of it, as well as the respected quality of the scottish universities, i’ll stick with scotland

    Have you considered Wrexham?

Does this mean that if Scotland gain independence and remain part of the EU, that it will have to pay for foreign students from England (and Wales and NI)?

    Yes. Don’t waste your vote!

    dave_aber

If you bleed without the funnel all you are doing is pushing air into the reservoir

Is that not the point of bleeding? Move the air from where you don’t want it to where you do want it?

Don’t forget that insurance companies ask you “Have you suffered a loss or had a claim in the last x years?”

What the mean by this is that they will load your next renewal if you have had a loss – even if you didn’t claim.

So, beware if you are calling them to check anything, as they will record the fact that you have “had a loss”

Took my lad about a week of coasting around on a tiny bike I got for £5 in a car boot sale, took the pedals off, and lowered it slightly so his legs would reach the ground (cut an inch or so out of the crossbar, pushed hard and re-welded).

After that week, pedals on and I’ve never been able to keep up with him since. And he got very used to pedal strikes, since it was so low – he just accepted that they happen and it didn’t bother him.

That was just after his 2nd birthday.

He’s just started showing an interest in bikes again after about 4 years off them completely. He’s 19 now though….

The original Countach has to be one of the best designed cars ever.

Anyone who thinks that of the F40 must be stuck in the 80s!

The Police told me when I got a series of bikes nicked that pro theives will get your bike whatever if they are serious, all you can do is slow them down and make as much noise as possible, hopefully they will get bored, or the noise will alret some one.

Why not set a ‘U’ lock in the concrete, and attach it to your bikes using a long heavy-duty cable threaded through an old drum kit? You’re bound to hear them that way.

kia piccanto is small and cheap

for a reason. They really are crap. Marmalade wheels and elastic steering column. There are better options out there – come to think of it you’d struggle to find a worse cheap car (IMHO)
