Will have a 1yr old in tow….along with his 5yr old brother so won’t be dragging them out on any sight seeing trips, was out in nuweiba when it got bombed so know of the potential for trouble, but Egypt has to much to lose if tourists get hurt so as a general rule your normally pretty safe.

It doesn’t matter what lights you use,you have to be prepared for the driver to never see you and even if they do to pull out anyway..I do Heathrow to Ruislip commute,If you can jump on the canal and come in the back end,use as little road as possible,I have a Exposure maxx-d on flash mode and a gemini duo helmet light set to medium, make sure you shine it in drivers faces at juctions so they can’t say they didn’t see you.

They never checked bags last year just threatened to,it was the 2 hottest days of the year and they still wouldn’t have any off it,i think its h&s arse covering as per normal and it was obvious the quick boys at the front had nothing with them as all they had was hydration pack and a saddle bag yet it seemed a blind eye was turned.

I done it last year,it was really well organised as all rat race events are. There are plenty of local pubs etc for phone charging, also 2nd day finishes at a sports hall where you can charge, there was cooked breakfast available every morning. There are points when you think your on the road to much but then it slips back off road just as your getting bored, Def no need for a lock, the bike lock up was secure and staffed overnight
