no don’t really need the info, but it helps.

Got to the top of skiddaw in the mist and rain and rode down the slate in very sketchy conditions (packed my full facer for comfort on the way down) thats about a 800m descent I think – took me 2 hrs to push up and about 15mins to come back down, just wondering what its like in comparison.

oh and btw I broke both wrists (including completely snapped off head of my right radius) 9 months ago so not exactly at my peak either….

its the speedball\joplin that develops slop, not the GD (although they do break in different ways, luckily the after sales service is 2nd to none)

if you want to ride better, faster and more flowy, get one, if not, don’t.
    Pretty simple really.

just like everyone on here saying “tubeless isn’t worth it” 2 years ago now saying “how do i go tubeless?” its the future, kind of like garlic bread, but for bikes.

water pump is likely to fail anytime soon, ask if its been changed (on the 2.5 models anyhow, not sure about 1.9)

*I’m probably a bike shop snob

no, just find that they are a general purpose bike store and therefore unlikely to stock the parts I need. Not a good example of an LBS on either service or techical know how, or parts stocked.

    cheers

dude, that sucks! was hoping to catch up at Ae, however once again the gods have conspired, you are injured and my van blew up. Last year it was me that was injured, the joy.

why did you go into evans?
    its top shop for bikes

more to the point – you need another stem?

    dasnut

If you want to go even quicker, use a higher gear…. therefore you will go faster for the same pedal strokes

for instance I started on my singlespeed 34:17 and now am down to 34:15 and it knocks minutes off each time you change down a sprocket.

    what would sam hill do?
he doesn’t seem to have problems with his feet bouncing off the pedals – even before 5-10 came along (again)

no, they noticed I had the same t-shirt on for 2 weeks.

as you say, its a “no-brainer”

    dasnut

    probably caused by handlebar setup

I broke both my wrists last august and suffered weakness in one hand for about a week or so, so nothing lasting, previously nothing.

firstly, stop riding a road bike.
    secondly sort your bars out.

its a good point crag – does the man made sealskin “plastic bag” effect have a detrimental effect on the performance of the closely knitted merino sub structure.

I, for one, would like to know.

    dasnut

you haven’t seen might boosh and the old greg episode then. He had a downstairs mix up

    dasnut

yeah well that solves the man made vs merino once and for all

dasnut stops being a cock, manmade wins. bingo.

I have used a merino base layer for around 5 years or so, thats winter and summer, and the thing is it keeps your temperature constant. So 30 degrees alps or minus 5 holmfirth temperature your core temp stays about the same. Man made just doesn’t do that. In my experience anyway.

how has this got anything to do with trail centre or natural?

trail centre isn’t trying to be natural and so it shouldn’t – its a different vibe altogether. There aren’t that many natural trails with berms or doubles on. Personally I like my riding fun and airborne, and those skills when translated to natural trails give them new life.

each to their own and all that

and therefore lies your downfall sir.

    note my washing statistics above.

also please state the definition of your

performs less well than the man-made stuff I use.

crikey has an opinion, therefore it must be truth. The end.

    dasnut

hey crikey have you actually used merino or are you pontificating your views with no basis in fact?

I bet your man made stuff really stinks! Kind of like your forum posts, but stinking in a different kind of way.

    crikey,

outperforms as is doesn’t need washing as much.

your poxy man made fibres are destroying the planet, baby

I bought 2 bright green “vail” t-shirts in the howies sale (my invoice says 14th January 2009)
I haven’t washed either one yet.
    beat it.

I also once wore one of the vail t-shirts with “howies” written across the front everyday for 2 weeks without washing it, it still had loads to go, but my work “collegues” started to notice.

the thing that breaks em is deodorant because it clogs the fibres….

still, carrying your bike isn’t actual mountain biking is it?

    mountains defined
sorry you are correct, I was so surprised at someone on this so called mountain bike forum not only riding their bike, but up and around and an actual mountain, that I thought I must had slipped into an alternate universe for a moment where tyres for llandegla\brechfa\glentress\marin trail where just rubber things that kept your bike stuck to the ground as opposed to a fashion item that the singletrack massive had blessed with godlike powers of traction

das “holding his hands up” nut

    biking, yes. mountain, no.

you will find this site quite a good barometer of mountain bike technology – that is, if they say “its the devils work” then its probably the next big thing, or even the current big thing, and sure enough everyone 6 months later gets with the program….

    tubeless…..

and to add to that, if you are bothered, or worried, sell your CK tat on “the bay” and buy another brand that doesn’t do this – correctly adjusted or not (cane creek, hope etc.)

    dasnut

oh overpriced CK tat not as great as they say shocker
any views on the BB yet? 😉

its all because you don’t replace the rubber o-ring every year you know (as stated in CK documentation I believe)
