I dont think the OP was tslking about a public place, they admit to being vague. I’ve hit a sheep and seen a deer that we’ve startled nearly kick someone in the head. The point is the same, see the threat and give it a wide birth. Dog and walker, sheep, deer, etc.

This thread is pretty unbelievable, I ride in the lakes about 3 times a week and seldom have any trouble. Replace dog with sheep, fox, deer or any other dumb animal and the answer’s the same. If you hit an animal on the trail you were probably riding too fast and only have yourself to blame. Rageing at someone might vent off a bit of steam but people need to mtfu and take it on the chin.

If you have guide re calipers and are re-using the old shimano spacer you will need to put two bevelled washers under and above the caliper. The shimano adapters come with 2 to go ontop of the caliper. Ditch these and use all 4 that come with the caliper. If that doesnt work then you’ll need a new adapter (sram one will have all the washers)

Im 5 11 and have a large 29er santa cruz hightower with a 150 dropper, as people have said standover shouldnt be an issue. I think you need to try the orbeas, in the existing models medium was a bit small for me, large is a big jump. The new occam does look nice. I was trying left handed drinking today to see if i could switch.

I’ve always found the bonty stuff good but last time i changed a tyre on my road wheels i had real problems, had to get a new rim strip then it went on straight away. Someone on here told me that the rim strips are almost single use. I’d never changed one before.

I think you are missing some of the point. The cassette is a 9-34, giving you a better range as well.

Tried the Carbon Nomad and Blur on a demo in the lakes. The Nomad might be better down, but if you plan on riding uphill and twisty singletrack then the blur would be my choice everytime, much more flickable.

I also tried the Nickel and I've got to say I was seriously tempted. Over the last few months I've tried the Scott Genius, Yeti 575 (current bike) and stumpjumper, in the end I went for the blur.

Thanks for the advice, we have a mu 8000 at work that I tried a while back and found it similar to the sony I've been using. Definetely tempted by the GF1, I've also been looking at the sony NEX-3 / 5

    My Bad..

Give Orange a ring they are normally very helpful and might be able to supply the Cane Creek. Alternatively you could try hope, you can get a Hope ZS tapered as an option on the bikes. Hope list all sort of integral/ntegrated/combi headsets.

Just had a quick look on the CK webiste, are you sure it's not Inset?

Had a similar problem with my Blur (mixed tapered), Cane Creek or Chris King were the only option

According to the Orange site they use a Cane creek zst25 tapered on a factory orange five. I can't find it for sale anywhere so your only option might be Chris King.

I never touch the pro pedal on my blur. It's a very light tune anyway so it doesn't do much.

Someone did say to use it for steep climbs. With the pro-pedal on it sits at the top of it's travel so you are more over the front.

Just had another thought, you could change to a u-turn coil fairly cheaply. Something with a 67 HA probably wants hammering downhill and a coil might be more suitable.

You can put a spacer in the air spring to reduce it permanently by 20mm (or any amount if you want to make a spacer). It's a very quick job.

You can buy an air u-turn cartrdige but it will be pricey.

Personally I don't find the u-turn system good for on the fly changes. I tend to wind down my Lyriks to about 140 and leave them in one position. I think it's something like 7mm per turn of the adjuster, so to drop it for a climb needs a good few turns.

2011 revelations are available with a dual air dual position damper, so that might be worth a look. (tftuned might know if the dual position damper will fit a 426)

Thanks for all the advice. I think it confirms what I already thought, I've been under training. If I use my calculated heart rate as a guide then the 70-80% just felt too easy.

I think I'll adjust all my target zones up to match the 200 I see on the HRM.

I just find that having somthing to concentrate on (trying to keep in a zone) passes the time. Let's face it turbo trainers are mind numbingly boring which is why I've been using the dvds with the workouts.
