Putting everything else aside and just comparing bikes, I’d take the Evolink. Unfortunately its not that simple though. I was on the verge of ordering a Stamina last year and joined the owners group on Facebook, which is full of tales of massive delays in shipping and unresolved warranty claims. I wanted to get the Pole, I really did. My wife is Finnish and I got to know one if the guys from Huck Norris quite well a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the FB group was enough to put me off. I ended up with a Geometron and couldn’t be happier.

What is this expensive process? So far gov.co.uk only mentions the pre-settled/settled status

    https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families

It took my an afternoon to sort it out, and when I had some questions the person at the phone was extremely helpful…

It is a relatively simple process, but already my Finnish wife has been asked to provide evidence of settled status (which you cannot, as there is no documentation provided) and it is also wholly reliant on this shower of a government not reneging on the agreement, and settled status only applies to EU nationals already here doesn’t it?

Still shouldn’t grumble because Iraq or something.

Just for balance, I’m hoping for an initial no deal tbh, it’s the only option that allows everyone a bit of win.

    Time for real change👍

I’m failing to see how anyone “wins” in a no deal scenario

Good info so far, thanks all.

Why are road worse than MTB? Also do you need specific/compatible tyres or do they work with any?

For my use it would be gravel wheels.

Hookless is fine for the road/gravel. My new Zipp’s are hookless.

    Nope, my thread, my rules.

Maybe you should have put some rules in ‘your’ thread to help as looks like the thread is just a mess of very unpretty bikes on the whole, most of which are the owners own, eye of the beholder indeed.

    But you said…

The thread is clearly not for me and I will stay away from it and let you post your own bikes…

Cyclist Offroad is now the only print publication I buy. I’ve been buying MTB mags since 1989 and by now there are very few features aren’t a rehash/resemble something I’ve read before, so I end up skipping half the pages and this doesn’t really represent good value. Gravel is relatively new to me so I quite like reading about races in far flung places, new kit and rides in the UK.

Id say that perhaps Grit.cx in print was a bit too early to really capture peoples imagination. Unfortunately I kind of forget its there now as it doesn’t seem to have the same editorial output as something like ADVNTR.CC

Tubeless, they’re fine but I’ve had issues running tubed. My first ride I did on them was tubed and I had a simultaneous front and rear puncture. I ran tubeless for a year with no issues until I had a puncure in the front that wouldn’t seal so I threw a tube in. Two rides later I had five punctures on the tubed tyre and took them off for something more robust.

Geraint Thomas? Isn’t another ‘tax dodging’ Monaco resident?

Since when was Brexit or the EU about locking up domestic businesses? My wife’s NMW X3 was produced in the US just as every X3 is. Where is the outcry about that? Global business being global shocker!!

How many models are there in the BMW range?

    Re. the thumping:
I think I banged twice, once when he squeezed past and again as we stopped. 2nd one anger/adrenaline and yes probably shouldn’t have happened.

I’m going to sign out of this discussion now, too many people who can’t read. A waste of resources.

You probably won’t read this in that case, but the regardless of whether he hit the vehicle once or twice while moving or not won’t affect the Police’s view on the earlier incident (dangerous driving) or the latter anti-semetic insult. Many years ago a driver ended up in court after an incident with me and tried to use a similar defence that the starting point was me damaging their wing mirror (I didn’t as witnesses testified). They still ended up in court and were sentenced to a suspended sentence.

I thumped the side of his van, partly instinctive “fending off” partly angry, yes I know I probably shouldn’t have. Anyway, he stops,

Sounds like he stops the van afterwards to me. You don’t “fend off” a stationary vehicle.

    Did they go through Australia?

Not in the three series that I have seen.

And while I don’t doubt that they have over dramatised certain events over the three series for the benefit of TV, it’s a stretch to call their exploits “total bullshit”.

Just back from Degla. Some of the jumps are bigger/steeper than I thought they would be bearing in mind the previous trail features. All are rollable for less experienced riders but I can see a few ambulance trips for riders hitting the new stuff fast and not being prepared.

Come on fellas, be reasonable ? If they’re looking at lowering the numbers on the bus, they MUST come up with a way of getting the same revenue to break even on where they were before this ? They’ve lost out on 3 months revenue/profit ? you can’t expect prices to be the same but they have 30-40% less customers (or however many it works out as) surely ?

This x100. Its like that poor restaurant that opened two days ago, warned all guests in advance there would be a reduced menu and still received a poor review on Trip Advisor about the reduced menu, even though the reviewer acknowledged they’d been forewarned.

If you want all the nice things to still be around in 2021, there has to be some give and take.

Ask him to come back as you are having a problem with the new lock barrel. Whilst you’re explaining it has mysteriosuly fixed itself get a friend to clamp his van parked on your drive. When he kicks off, calmly point to the sign that states the drive is private property and clamping is in operation, release fee £570.

I vote for Geometron. Tried and tested. Excellent support plus Mr Porter’s design skills. Has garnered a very keen following.
Yeah it’s more expensive but it’s European made German Engineering.
Nicolai have an incredibly local following.
Proper balanced geometry and now the EXT super shock
    Try one.
I did in Aug 2015 and haven’t looked back. My riding is still improving, love it.
I’m now on my third. (No need but – First update 2nd G16 with longer chainstays, next a G1 – even longer)
I’d encourage you to have a go.

I have just received my Geometron but it was a tough call between the G1 and the Privateer, there is almost £3k difference between the XT build G1 and the Privateer build!

What’s the different for you to run the shorter travel option? Can it be converted butto the longer travel if you change your mind? I personally have a mk1 g16 and as much as I love it to bits I really like how the newer mk2 g16 or especially g1 are even more versatile and adjustable to suit rider and trails

I think its just a shorter travel version of the EXT and I’m assuming different mutators. You can definitely convert between as Paul offered to send the bits necessary for me to have a try in short travel guise.

Geometron can also now supply a short travel version of the G1 with 145mm/158mm travel.

I initially contacted Geometron regarding the G15 but ended up with a G1, in the end the flexibility of the travel/wheel size/geo won me over.

I have a G1 coming today, well it should be but seems that the parcel is delayed in transit. This is much less frustrating than it would be if I was working from home with the sun shining like this under non-lockdown circumstances!

I can’t comment on the bike yet, I taken something of a leap of faith and purchased it without a test ride but I will say that the service I’ve received so far has been second to none.

Yea, same here. Well i guess i’ll drop them an email tomorrow, but it seems very close to shipment date from warehouse, which is what, 15 days away. If it’s May/June i may have to diver my money to a Mega 290.

Mega 290 are really thin on the ground though too, can’t find a 2020 L size frame in either alu or carbon.

Off to Lapland to visit the outlaws on Sunday, so a few days will be spent in Pyhätunturi. Got the kids on skis for the first time in the Pyrenees last year so really excited to cruise about as a family. Snow looks ok, and not too cold at -2c.

I’ve got one for my motorbike. I’ve only used it once to ride down an watch the National CX Champs, there were a couple of roundabouts where the exit wasn’t clear until I was right upon it (actually after it on one occasion, I had to do a uturn) but in general it seems to do the trick.

It’s not a satnav in the traditional sense, but as a navigational guide that stops you having to pull over and check your phone/ a map regularly it does what it is supposed to.
