I bought the Advanced Bike mechanic tool kit by BikeHand from tredz for sixty quid. It is a great kit, and I think they do some cheaper ones too.

    This one is 34 pounds.

We have a village group in East Sussex. We started affilliated to a club, but they were all middle aged parish councillor types, so we left, and now just pitch up twice a week at set times. Its all organised by email and facebook.

We have a great age mix from 15-60, we ride throughout the year with a 2 hr night ride leading to the pub!!

We dont take ourselves too seriously, but do have some pretty good riders, including 1 racer. We have good relations with local landowners, and have access to loads of unofficial singletrack.

Crundi – bought one of those ones (floor mounted version) for a mate. He says it holds fine, but the screw in clamp is a pain, as opposed to the fast-clamp on my one. Great VFM though!!

Drinking my nespresso whilst writing this – very nice it is too!!! We have the Krups Auto which works really well. It came with the Aeroccino milk frother thingy, which is good, but a pain to clean every time. If I am making a cappuccino, I use it, but for a latte, just add milk and microwave for 1 minute.

A pair of the MKII UST 2.4 will be just under £70 with the current deal on merlin and in stock. The current MKII protection (TR not UST) fit my UST Mavic 819 rims really nicely. I ran them with tubes for the last 3 months with no punctures. They are much lighter than the full ust version.

I could wind up the rebound, but that wouldn’t be ideal for me. My Fox 32RL doesn’t do it with the same rebound. I just wondered if it was normal with these forks.

Set up my conti x king protections with stans sealant – after a couple of days sloshing sealant around the sidewalls have sealed up nicely!!! Just ordered some MKII protections too, so will run both bikes with x king rear/MKII front.

How many spacers are you left holding? If its 3 its 2 Drive Side, and 1 Non DS. If 1, it goes on Drive Side.

Well, I think I have it sorted!! The bb shell is 68mm, so I seemed to need 3 spacers in to enable the hope bb to screw tight to the frame. With the recommended 1xNDS & 2xDS the chainrings touched the frame. So I took out the NDS spacer, but then the bb wouldn’t screw all the way into the shell. Now I have all 3 spacers on thE DS, it seems to work fine.

The crank is held nice and tight on the NDS and on the DS there is still a bit of space between the bb and crank. It all feels nice and taught, and the crank spins very nicely (about 8 revs with no chain)

Have I made any big mistakes here before I ride it this afternoon?

I converted to SPD’s this year, so many comedy offs whilst stopping!! My most embarrassing was a roll down the side of a Friston bomb hole – put on You Tube by a so-called mate!!

If, to protect yourself, you had to put up your spd clad foot, wouldn’t that be a shame????

STATO, that sounds like it – seems a bit of a mess really!!! I’ve got a hope bb withX0 GXP/hopeconverters now – if they ever turn up from CRC (Grrrr!!).Iit has the spacers as per instructions so hopefully all fine.

    Thanks everybody.

I have a 2011 RZ 120 2. The only weakness in the reviews was the heavy tyres – which I agree 100%! It has the basic Black Sharks – which are the best part of 900g each!!! The rest of the bike works really well – Fox front and back works a dream.

With the current reduction to @£1599 this bike is a steal.

Beware the batteries on the cheapest available MS lights. I have numerous MS lights, and the batteries on the cheaper ones dont hold a charge very well. I have had no issues with the lightheads themselves.

if you can afford the upgrade to the newer German batteries (Open Light Systems)they are IMHO worth it.

Wouldn’t you get huge shadow issues with the light source being that low? Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any reason TO have one??

When you put in new pads, they will be thicker, therefore take up some of the slack in your lever. Aftermarket pads -eg Superstar – are even thicker than manufacturers ones.

Do your brakes have any lever/bite point adjust?

I have 2 MS lights – The “Mickey Mouse” P7 one, and the new Cree 1000lm one, and also the BikerayIV. I have had no issues with the light heads, but be very wary of cheap MS batteries. They really struggle to hold a charge. On my BR, I upgraded to the German OpenLightSystems battery – what a difference!!!! On a 2hr ride – 70% on high(1200lm) it never goes from green :-) All the batteries from these are interchangeable BTW.

As for waterproofing, no issues from me, and we ride in all weathers!!

If people struggle with the rubber band mounting system and the light head sagging, try a strip of grip tape (glue backed sandpaper, effectively) on your bars.

Scaredypants – you need someone who has just spent £100 at CRC, chosen to use the XMAS50 code to get this offer, instead of the other £15 off offer, who then choses not to spend another £100 to use their new voucher.

IMHO, only people who are intending making another purchase will use this code, as there are other direct discount codes available otherwise.

So really, you are looking for someone who has changed their mind on the second purchase.

Ive just used this – X0 crank reduced to £199, used the voucher for a Hope Ceramic Hub effectively for £30!!!!!

A knockoff of a knockoff!!!!! I bet that battery lasts at least 3 charges!!!! (I have 2 MS lights BTW, so know how good they are, I’m just wary of the cheap batteries)

Thanks Buzz. I’m replacing the whole crankset so the bolts shouldn’t be an issue. The GXP crankset is £20 cheaper than the BB30 one, so if my frame will take either I will do that.

The batteries are definately the biggest issue with the MS lights. I own 2, and upgraded to the German OpenLight battery, and it is sooo much better. Our regular Tuesday night Roll-up ride is normally about 1:30, and my new batt is still showing green at the end!!!!

Top tip for mounting MS lights – use that non-slip tape you get for putting on steps( looks like sticky backed sandpaper) and stick a small patch on your bars. Much less wobble/slippage ?

Ive been using the XTR trail pedals – got a good deal from Merlin, no way i’d pay full whack!! The platform is great – real stability, and the ability to pedal clipped out if you really neet to. They also offer much more protection from rock/tree bashes.

I think the 530 and XT version are the same, just with heavier axles.
