Ride TPT/canal to Lymm and back. Crap riding (i did a whopping 74 feet of climbing across 20 miles yesterday), but plenty of pubs along the way.

I’ve just got a Canyon 29er. Coming from a nice slack 456, it feels VERY low and racy up front which is taking a bit of getting used to. It’s also scary fast, probably due to low front and fast rolling tyres.

Size wise, I’m 6’2″ and got a medium after using the online fitter thingy. I expected to end up on a large, looks like med was recommended due to my badly designed short-legged (~85cm) body.

Have to say, so far it’s fantastic. Oh, and once built delivery was quick too.

Full. May need to chop your brake hoses too if you want to make it a tidy job.

Still dipping into GT5, done all the easy stuff and can’t face grinding the later A-spec race series. Got a bit disillusioned when I realised the B-spec boys were now way better than I’ll ever be.

    PSN ID: Danski_UK

I have a few B-spec drivers on standby if anybody wants to race theirs against them.

I’ve been on giffgaff for the last week or two and so far I’m impressed. I ported across from orange and the number transfer wasn’t an issue.

    Good things:
    – Cheap – tenner a month for hundreds of minutes, unlimited texts and internet. Unlimited web is actually 100Mb per day, more than enough for me on a moderate use android.
    – It works on O2,so I can actually get a signal at home (screw you everything everwhere liars)

    Bad things:
    – They’re your best friend, mate! Stupid, annoying overly matey tone. All E-mails / messages seem to end with Champion! or Nice One!
    – No tech support. No problem for me as I’ve never used it.
    – It’s PAYG, so you need to remember to top up, though I think there is an auto topup option.

If anyone wants to give it a go, I can link to a free sim offer with £5 credit on it. (You get a fiver credit every time you refer someone new)

All your google account stuff lives in a magic google cloud somewhere – contacts, E-mails, calendar, documents etc.

Best thing to do is probably get a gmail account setup first, transfer over your contacts and sync outlook to google calendar (windows app google calendar sync does this bit). This way, when you get the phone it’ll sync everything from the cloud and you’ll be up and running quicker.

Then start arguing about whether an iphone is better.

BigM – fast cars not allowed, diesel only with strict CO2 limits (at least for my level). Can’t moan too much though as it’s still much cheaper than owning a car.

Agree with everyone about how excellent quickclear screens are, surprised no other company has found a way around the patent.

Time to sit down and write a for and against list for each. Then either sit back and reflect what a lovely problem to have, or have a cry that I’m looking at diesel mondeos at the tender age of 30.

    Cheers all

Due to stupid bloody car policy, I can only add options if I pay with my own money, hence high spec mundano sounds good. Except for one thing: mondeo estate with no roofbars as standard = FAIL.

Car list is basically BMW, Audi, VW or Ford. Standard specs for easy admin (want more, pay more). Passat estate coming to end of lease and I fancy a change.

Cougar, does yours use a clamp on system? If so, do the rubber pads scratch badly?

Camper vans on Top Gear track isn’t even a game, it’s punishment.

Great, unless you’ve got a Marin.

Will gradually scuff through bike paint though, so use helicopter tape where it grips if you’re bothered by such things.

Cheers All, will likely get a cable lock more as a deterrant than serious protection and keep an eye on things. Should at least stop opportunists.

Ordered stuff Sunday night, still not arrived.

Recent scores: Merlin 1st, Wiggle 2nd, CRC 3rd, Ribble 4th (but so cheap for oem bits I’ll forgive them).

    Sell it then. Fool.

Oh yeah, you WILL get idiots on planes asking “Is that a Kindle?” far too often. I figured the novelty had worn off already, but clearly not.

I’m the kind of person that just wants to get on the flight and mind my own business so it drives me mad, but if you want to make friends it’s perfect.

It’s brilliant, esp if you travel a lot. Once you get used to it, it’s just like reading a book. What more can you say?

Books prices can occasionally verge on the ridiculous (almost same as hardback for new releases) and sometimes vary day to day. Can only legitimately buy from amazon, but loads of old (and -cough- new) stuff is out there for free.

Use is fine once you’re in a book, but the interface is a bit 1990’s clunky. Expect to spend a day tapping the screen getting angry before rememebering how we used to do things (ie. with buttons rather than touchscreen).

New Sony’s may be out now though, they look good and have touch.

£550 vs £799 for brand new with warranty? Didn’t seem too insulting. Anyhoo, whatever happened to “If you’re not embaressed with an offer, you’re offering too high?”

Problem solved – nipped out to Rotherham and bought a Ti456 earlier. Next week’s project is building the bloody thing.

For what it’s worth, Mamtor and 456 looked superficially similar, maybe a bit more bling on the Van Nic vs more understated looks on the on-one.

Also had a feel of the carbon 456, wow that thing’s light (and so, so ugly).

My turn to be cheeky back:
Is that a snappy rear triangle model? Knock a few hundred off and it’s a maybe. Otherwise, it’s only 50 quid more for a new one with a warranty.

Piss in a pot test is probably immunoassay, hence horrendous cross-reactivity causing false positives (ie. you've taken something vaguely opiate-esque recently). Proper lab test should put you in the clear.
