All my fox forks have been well behaved with minimal help from me. All my rockshox have exploded or leaked and although I do love marzochis they are the only fork where I have had stantion wear. It made no difference to their performance which was superb.

Loving it mate. Raced it two days after putting It together. Awesome bike. It’s changed a bit from the std spec but I just grabbed what I wanted off of the m9 and swapped the with the trek.

sessions are good, as are demos, as are m9s. Commencal are also popular. Plenty of choice to be had.

I bought a 4 month old barely ridden trek session 9.9 for nigh on half the new price. There are bargains to be had. ride.it is a good place to look as is pinkbike.com

Do you fall off a lot, are you slow and terrified of jumping. If so, then you probably do. Ignore all that, everyone could do with some coaching. It’s good to hear someone else’s opinion and to talk through how to correct bad habbits, ride better.

Allthepies…. Very funny, I genuinely laughed out loud at that.

Crap suspension setup tips or just basically poor set up from the factory on bikes just so they pass the car park bounce test. Thus ensuring that the woods are full of people riding under damped pogosticks that could actually be quite dangerous.

The insistence of using cheap shit bearings in very expensive kit. Easton wheels, you are guilty as charged! I like everything else about you though.

The way the industry tries to be innovative for the sake of it rather than making something that works amazing.

Carbon intense slope style, series 1. It will never happen.

So I’ve just bought something with a crappy beam pattern, is not that bright, and might blow up? Well done me! Ah well cheap for a reason. We shall see…

Fantastic day out at Hadleigh yesterday. Rode all the features, no offs (thankfully) and well worth the trip! It should be a very good place to ride when opened fully.

    Many thanks to the instructors!

You need to get down to Warley Tom!

    Cheers,

    Dan (intense slopestyle)

I cut the rear wet scream on my bike to slope the centre row of spikes. Slightly better pedalling and no real loss in braking. Cornering is still great. I rode them Thursday night at our local spot which was mostly frozen solid. A little squirmy in the fast corners but still pretty good.

Hated DIrty Dan’s loved Wet Screams. Der Barons are also good but Wet Screams always for when it gets sloppy.

Having successfully tested a D3 several times I can conclude that they work very well. They also fit my oversized noggin very well.

Surely deliberately setting traps with the sole pupose of causing harm (or even death) to others is very, very illegal and in the great scheme of things in a whole other league to riding a bike on what may be a cheeky trail? I’d be mentioning words like ‘manslaughter’ to him and comments like I know who you are and where to find you etc…

Running 175mm cranks on mine. I’ve never had ground issues but the stoy gives loads of mid travel support. My bolts have stayed put also.

They are bloody brilliant. Having said that mine is for sale over on pinkbike. I don’t use as I just seam to ride dh these days and have another bike for that sort of thing that is more specific.

In intenses defence the m9 is very, very good and also very strong.

If you want a dh bike get one. Ignore what the know it all numpties on here say. Ride what you like and two fingers to the rest of them. Dh bikes are bloody brilliant! Enjoy whatever it is you get!

I think I have ridden XC about 5 times this year. Hence the bike is up for sale. I’ve just been riding DH. Fitness seems to be loads better and I’ve lost plenty of flab. Apart form the falling off bit I think I just prefer it.

Or buy my SS1 frame. Shameless plug, sorry.

Short rear end 16.75inches, Slack HA 66.5 without angleset or slacker dropouts (65.5 with slacker dropouts or upto 64 with an angleset), low bb 13.5 inches, comes with a Bos Stoy, takes a front mech and has routing for a dropper post. My current build is around 32.5 lbs.

Now you can all start slagging off Intenses. Again.

Rode it yesterday. It’s very good and very, very steep. Not convinced about about the kitty litter surface though, it sapped alot of speed in places. All doable on a 100mm hardtail as demonstrated by a few people I saw there.

A bunch of them have recently trashed our local DH spot. I asked them nicely to not come back as the land is private and we have permission to ride and build on the basis that there are no motorbikes. They seemed okay and some left but others were more persistent. The last time this happened the police nabbed them in the car park and they were never heard of again. This may be the case again if they keep coming back…

The irony (?) was that they were slow and couldn’t ride any of the proper jumps.

“My rear suss is Rock Shox Monarch RL, but i’m really struggling to figure out how to adjust it properly?! Only ever ridden hard-tail before, so struggling with all the new knobs!”

    1. Set the sag properly. Wear all you kit and gently get on the bike and leaning against a sturdy wall/fence get into your normal riding position or the ‘attack’ position letting the bike settle, some gentle (very gentle) bouncing is fine to help this. Your shock should have a rubber O ring on the piston. Check to see how much that has moved. Somewhere around 25 to 33% is fine.
    2. Set the rebound. Find out how many clicks of adjustment there are so go from fully out to fully in counting the clicks. Initially start about half way.
    3. Find a piece of trail that you are familiar with and ride it over and over again making small changes to the shock, noting what change you make each time. Keep doing this until you are happy and comfortable on the bike.
    4. If you are into jumping you don’t want to be bucked and also on steep hills (going down them) you don’t want the back of the bike pushing you forwards. If this happens slow the rebound down. If the opposite is happening i.e. the back of the bike, feels dead/wooden speed the rebound up.

Don’t go too mad, your suspension settings will always be a compromise i.e. don’t stress about it juts get it so it works well most of the time.

I’m not sure if you have compression adjusters on your shock?

This is me. And next week, if I remember the camera, I’ll post up the night version. Dirt jumps freak me out though, so respect to anyone who does that!

Start off small, say a curb and get used to that. Don’t try for the big gap jumps first! Later if you can find a nice, not too high table top use that to practice on.
Remember to pump rather than pull up on the bars. That diagram in a previous post is pretty good.
Approach at a speed you are comfortable with and one where you are balanced.
    Drop your saddle right down.
Check the rebound on your suspension, make sure it’s not at the full zebedee, you don’t want any suprises e.g. if the back end of the bike is bucking you slow the rear rebound down. If you are running a CCDB it’s the HSR circuit you need to tinker with.
Tell someone where you are and when you will be back, take a phone and keep it with you.
Take food and plenty to drink. Repeating the same run over and over again is actually very tiring.
If you have all the protection gear, wear it e.g. full face helmet.
    Jedi is your man.
I am not an expert so if you fall off and hurt yourself it’s your own silly fault, nobody made you do this!

Came off on the dd line at rogate today. Never mind, hurty knee, arm and rib. I nailed the mainline though. Oo get me. Yup, dumb crashes that you just dump you in a heap on the ground are the worst.

Why can’t people just be offended? Get over yourselves.

70k per month, why not? It’s sold worldwide and is generally considered a good read. Photographers getting the front cover shoot see it as a big deal.

Mine are great. But what do I know, I ride intenses and they are built on the piss according to the know it all muppets that live here. They are light, strong (I hope) and stiff and look pretty snazzy to boot.

What ever bike you get you can be sure that some clown on here will tell you that you are overbiked. Regardless of that, get whatever bike you want. For what it is worth friends of mine ride the Scott Voltage and that seems to do the job very well and has a good frame upon which to hang better bits when you feel like an upgrade. Plenty of choice out there, look around and get the one that you like.
