Contrary to danrandon above, I’ve had a 2.0 petrol frv for juzt coming up to 7 years and it is fantastic. Granted I only get mid 30’s to the gallon but its easily the best engine I’ve had in a car.

Honda’s really do take some beating.

Not that there is a problem with the 2l version as it’s still a chain driven camshaft 😀 but i found the economy worse than the 2.2 sport i have.

Really love my Hondas and they just keep on going. In fact my year 2000 Honda HRV was sold back to the dealer for £2500 as they wanted to break it and refurb the parts to sell back to customers

Honda F-RV 2.2 diesel. six seats, three up front three in the rear, all adult sized. Plenty of room for bikes. Plenty of leg room, full climate control with full auto setting. cruise control etc etc. Big boot. on a long journey we get around 52-58 to a gallon fully loaded. Engines are amazing and really reliable. our first one had 190000 on the clock before some twonk wrote it off. Passed every mot until it’s demise.

    DO NOT buy the 2.0

Managed to reserve one from my local store, but when i tried to reserve 5 it spat the dummy and said there was no stock which is a shame, oh well.

just reduce the qty by 1 and try again, and repeat until it eventually will accept the order for whatever stock they have. I managed to get 6 from my local one

the hilarity is that i was about to £10 each for them from another well known shop.

    None anywhere near me. Shame.

when checking your local store for stock and it says the 3 nearest to you have no stock make sure you click Find a store with availability to find the nearest stores to you that do have stock. you may find that your 4th or 5th nearest stores have them.

    BREAKING NEWS:

They won’t test it as it has no rear seats in.

Then remove the rear seats belts as well. If no seats and rear belts then it is not classed as a seating position. Competition cars often have no rear seats and no rear belts but have to pass their MOT all the same if being used on the public roads.

They tried to fail my wife’s car for having an air fresher hanging from the rear view mirror!!

Technically anything over 40mm in the swept area of windscreen should be an MOT failure die to it “obstructing the view”

    some more info here linky

my bet is on faulty brakes, they tried that one on my rally spec mini that had just been rebuilt with new calipers, lines, discs etc etc. wouldn’t let me take it away until they sorted it. All work was carried out by a very well know competition car specialist and could stop quicker than you could think about it.

Threatened them with theft and reported them to VOSA

All spaniels are nutty at heart but with plenty of excercise and training, mental stimulation etc they will be as calm as anything.

My Mother in law owns a golden cocker who tiptoes over damp grass to go for a pee lol, and has been great with my daughter since birth (she is now 6). We own a sprocker who is mad but lovable and is also great with kids and worries himself sick if he can’t she her when out for a walk with us. He runs ahead of me on the local trails and loves every minute.

spray lots of plusgas clickyon the seized bolt and leave overnight. then with a set of molegrips undo the sheared off bolt. or better still with a dremel grind a slot in the top of the bolt and use a screw driver to remove.

Once again, I don’t like carriers that only strap down with iffy buckles and things.
I always tie off buckles as well; our rack is a steel-band clamping on boot job that I can swing my whole weight off. Bikes are also strapped all round them to rack, and locked with cable to roof bars.

the actual carrier BOLTS into the rear crash member and two brackets that are BOLTED in to the main chassis where the rear gas struts for the tailgate fit.

I can swing all 16 stone of my weight off it.

Is the 451 carrier, sits lower down rather than the up in the air one? Just wondering which bit failed if it was the low down one as it uses plastic ratchet straps doesn’t it?

early 450 model “pram handle” type with the bow across the rear. the buckles themselves failed not the straps. These have now been replaced with webbing ratchet straps for the journey home.

smarts recommendation was to buy a new carrier LOL which they then proceed to tell you isn’t made any more ROFL

time to head down to your local Smart garage with some bombers at the ready!!

don’t see what difference a pair of forks will make 😉

What kind of carrier was it?

Geniune smart bike carrier by Smart as it is the only one that will work on the car due to glass roof and glass tailgate.

I never felt fully safe with strapons(!)

    oh er missus

You were travelling alone in an empty car yet you still put the bike on the outside where it could get stolen, broken, fall off or (in winter) covered in road salt?

    shakes head in wonderment

ever tried getting a full sus bike in a smart car? thought not lol.

In my other car which the wife uses during the week all bikes go inside.

You and the people behind are pretty lucky!

you’re telling me, I’m always so careful as well and hence why i double strap the bottom of the bike. thank god for those crappy pedals with toe strops you get with a new bike.

I’m still shaking at the thought of what could have happened.

Not feeling very happy with myself at the minute. I’ve done thousands of miles with a bike on the back and never had a problem until today.

As my main body of the carrier actually bolts in to the rear crash member of the car and two brackets bolted to the gas struts for the boot lid there is no chance that the actual carrier is coming off, only the bikes which i why i always back up the straps with toe straps.

Still not a pleasant experience on the way to work this morning though. Busy M1 motorway with lots of traffic, keep seeing in my head the news flashes of pile ups caused by bike coming off. Now sat here shaking at the thought of how much worse this could have been.

As I spent most of last week ill in bed with the flu, saturday and sunday mainly involved me thrashing out the last of the bug riding the local woods.

Monday on the other hand was great, spent the morning teaching my daughter how to ride without training wheels. In the afternoon we took her to Hicks Lodge and she rode most of the yellow on two wheels. Go it felt great to throw those training wheels away.

We kept her on them for longer than normal due to her having major brain surgery back in 2011 and we wanted to let the skull really heal well without any silly little tumbles.

She has now chosen her own 661 pads and is looking for a full face helmet like daddys so she can ride some of the downhill bits in the woods with me. (crazy kid)

Had my 2012 ex demo bike just over 2 weeks now and love it. So quick and stable downhill and keeps the momentum well. Nose is a little light on climbs and can lift easily but just lean forward a bit more and it’s great. After riding an miracle, proflex animal, Scott fr and a cannondale over the years this is the best handling bike I’ve ever own and it compliments my riding style.

Also not seen many around and it always gets looked at when on rides.

Why not design it in photoshop and then use the slice tool so you can create links for each slice. Then choose save for web and devices, choose the option to save images and html.

Upload the images to a webserver and change the links to rear http://yourdomain.com/image_name.jpg

    job done.
